@BuntarouMori
@BuntarouMori 2 месяца назад
Excellent analysis. Very accurate I think in 2024 it will be much more difficult to take him down there was a considerable improvement compared to 2022/2023 His survival on the ground is good, perhaps because he should focus more on that with Glover which is Glover area (jiu-jitsu) And the TDD is inferior, I believe he doesn't have many high level wrestler partners at Teixeira Gym, Glover is not a wrestler specialist, far from being. Poatan must have earned around 7/10 million $ in the last 2 fights he should hire a top wrestler to improve TDD TDD high level will mean he will have an advantage AGAINST THE ENTIRE UFC and that includes heavyweight. No one in kickboxing will have favoritism against the best knockout artist in MMA history with the deadliest weapon ever seen left hook

It really doesn’t matter at the heavier weights where guys can spark one another with a jab. LHW has been one of the weaker divisions historically, the skill gap is large even between the top 5. Alex is an elite striker, who can strike with elite MWs, so the gap between his striking ability vs much a much slower LHW’s only minimizes the takedown threat further. Also, a lifetime kickboxer that not having the TDD of a guy who has been in MMA/wrestling for the majority of his career isn’t shocking. And to add, the clench is part of grappling, which Pereira does well in, this title should be “Pereira’s TDD & BJJ is….”. It’s okay, the majority of UFC fans not understanding combat sports is a long time tradition. When you’re fight analysts are Rogan & D.C., it’s honestly not your fault

If he can improve it just a bit maybe a year from now and especially if Jones continues to be inactive I am putting my money on Alex to knock him out if or when they fight.

Pereira is such an amazing fighter. That being said, once he is down he really struggles to get up, spending a lot energy trying to get back up to his feet. Someone above average could bully him one the ground. Can't blame him, only two years into the sport compared to people who's done most of their life, he is picking it up quickly. If he gets just a bit better on the ground he will be unstoppable...

Alex showed how weak in talent light heavyweight is. It’s why Jones is no GOAT. Aside from the eye poking, cheating, PEDs, losing to Reyes, etc. Alex walked through the division easily and Lightweight, Welterweight are by far the most talent stacked and depth.

When you hear someone from the top 10 has "weak ground game" or something like that - it doesn't mean they are bad at it. They still have better MMA grappling than like 90% of the UFC, but there are just guys that are still way better at it, cause for example it's their main weapon or they are more balanced fighters.
@Hiaki1000
@Hiaki1000 2 месяца назад
+ he doesn't try to really grapple in his fights, his goal is to not get taken down and when he gets taken down to get up asap and not get submitted. He is not trying to be offensive and his defense is pretty good from what we could see.

People also seem to underrate his cardio and his stamina recovery, too. They're fairly good for what he needs to do -- pick you apart, survive being grappled until he can be back to his bread & butter.

Most of these guys can't wrestle either. He's kinda lucky to be in a shallow division regarding wrestlers/grapplers. Even Ankalaev isn't that great. He's usually striking. DC or JJ would have finished him in the first round, but that doesn't matter. He's NOW competing and right now there's no good wrestlers. Good for him.

I don’t understand why fighters who’ve been taken down can just defend until time is up and reset rather than taking a break and resuming position on ground. It’s kinda unfair to grapplers.
@batmanonholiday4477

i see your point, but then if a fighter was knocked down and was saved by the bell -- a situation that seems similar to being dominated in a grappling scramble -- then how should they restart the next round? should the fighter get knocked down again? that's why i think resetting makes sense, its an artificial setup, but sill reasonable

Which of these guys are good WRESTLERS? Instead of just grapplers. Genuine question I don’t know all of them. Somebody like Jan is a BJJ grappler. BJJ grapplers are known to not have the same takedown effectiveness like wrestling guys like Khabib Islam etc. To be fair though, Jan was able to take down Izzy easier then Pereira it seems. Although Pereira is heavier naturally

Great video! Finally somebody giving him props for his high level grappling. People pretend like he can't grapple, well 80% of these "grapplers" are fakes who never get exposed cause people don't try to take them down. Jacare Souza in his washed state is the perfect example. Everybody was terrified of his ground game (including Blachowich), and then freaking Kevin Holland KOs him from bot position, and then Andre Muniz snaps his arm via submission.

When you try to grapple Alex your goal shouldn't necessarily be to try to finish him on the ground, Grappling should be used to try to change Alex's eye level. If you allow Alex to keep his eyes between your eyes and nipples then you are basically just kickboxing one of the greatest kickboxers of all time with small gloves on. Not a wise choice for anyone that cherishes their cognitive abilities.
