Abigail Cunningham Well New York mostly became polluted and culturally diverse in the early 1900’s so it has a couple of fourth wall breaks as in referencing modern day NYC. And “in the same carriage” is referencing their large subway systems. Honestly, the only thing that specifically referenced colonial times is Lin’s costume, him pointing at the sky in the end, and the phrase “Upstate doesn’t trust us.”
@@madjaster9620 The previous line was a reference to marriage, though, which also don't fit a busload of people unless you're talking about Futurama, and multiple people sharing a carriage for hire (especially someone like, say, Hamilton and Burr in this period) was not unheard of. It's a lovely parallel, but it does work in the period of the show.
Is it me or has his voice improved immensely??? Like I adored his voice in Hamilton but those vibratos and the amount of control he has seems to have grown a lot!!
I feel like some major obstacles of achieving those vocals were a lack of sleep cuz of Hamilton + a shit ton of other projects + a toddler and a newborn. Good thing he prepared for this tho because by golly, he's never sung this good.

I can sort of see how he'd do it too. The concept would be how this one seed that knows it's special can find a way to stand out in a world filled with watermelon seeds that all seem the same, and this seed's struggle to achieve its dream of growing into a plant that produces the best watermelons of all time--not necessarily the biggest, but the best.

This gives me so much... inspiration?? Like, here is this guy who came from nothing, was ridiculed in his time for his drive and his policies, and died like a whisper. People barely recognized his name 2,3 years ago. But we all know him now. And we are cheering for him. And it gives me so much hope that his desires of having a legacy are finally fulfilled more than 200 years later. Thank you, Lin, for bringing this full circle. Now, to the replay button!

OMG THE CHILLS. I cry every time I get up to this part. It's my favorite part of the entire song because of THE BELTS! Even though I'm a girl, I had to take a lot of time to practice the entire song, especially holding the final notes. Holding the notes at 2:39 is still very tricky for me, but I'm used to it now, because I've actually held those notes before. I feel proud of myself.
Nah, this is classic Broadway. I think a new style has developed recently and that's what a lot of people are now familiar with, but the classic Broadway songs sound similar to this.
I swear it feels so great to see someone nice AND talented get famous for their genius! There's so many stars out there that get hyped for seemingly no reasons other than their looks. It's great to see real talent being appreciated.

Those final notes at the end are so hard for me to sing. I've been practicing this amazing song for 9 months now, and I always run out of breath. And I always get shocked when I am able to belt the notes. I cry at 2:39 too, so you are definitely not alone either.

I love the way Lin says “island.” He cradles it on his tongue like it’s at home in his mouth. He tries to give that world as much of a life as it has given him. It’s small, but God, is it beautiful.
No, it's a moment in the Chernow book that Lin and the director Tommy Kail both circled as a point to maybe include in the show but never did. New York put on a parade to celebrate Hamilton after the adopting of the constitution in the state, one of the only times he was celebrated. According to Lin, it would fit right in after the Federalist Papers, during Nonstop-which was why it wasn't used as Nonstop closes Act One. Hope this helps!

This masterpiece of a Broadway single gave me shudders. And what a great video! I am absolutely flabbergasted at how Mr. Miranda keeps upping his game and making more and more amazing Hamilton-related content. In other words, this man is a LEGEND.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the voice of Lin? Ive been around since 21 Chump Street and In The Heights to Hamilton, and never have I heard the full vocal potential of him. I mean sure, he's got grade A+ lungs, look at any rap he's done, but damn that final New York. He's also got a lot of emotion coming through, it reminds me of Frank Sinatra singing about New York. This may be a Hamildrop but I cant think about this being Lin giving his thanks to New York, and frankly, I would love to give him a standing ovation for this song, it honestly sums up New York City perfectly. ((Ps. I am actually from NYC, so that part about fighting like old couples and feeling safe in a crowd is very true. I don't know, maybe I'm biased haha))
FINALLY. I’m so very glad Lin and Tommy pointed out this part of Hamilton’s life. It was one of the best parts, in my opinion, even if it was short. It’s just really awesome to have a song to represent it.

EXACTLY THO. My dad surprised me, we were in the Hamilton store on broadway, right across from the Richard Rogers theatre. He showed me a cool book which he had hidden the freaking tickets in. Me being me, I thought someone *left the tickets in the book on accident* **FACEPALM**. But eventually I figured it out (haha im stupid), bought a 40 dollar t-shirt from the store and put it on over my other shirt so I could wear it during the show. It was kinda funny, I asked my dad when we were going to see it, and he said RIGHT NOW. I was like RIGHT NOWWWWW???????? And we had standing seats in the very back, so we couldn't see the top half of the stage. During the first act, I think this guy was the usher? I'm not really sure but he gave me a chair with a cushion on it so I could stand on my knees. But we came back for the second act and the same guy got us better seats in the very middles row of to the left and I discovered that the stage was REALLY TALL XD. But yeah long story (VERY long story) short, that was the best day of my life. Oh yeah and also I met the stars backstage BYEEEEEEE!!!!

I just want to say how much Hamilton has effected me and my life. I have attempted suicide 3 times at the age of 12. Hamilton has shown me that I need to tell my story and continue it. Hamilton has brought me back to the place I was in before. I no longer have suicidal thoughts. I can smile again! And I know maybe no one will see or care about this comment, but... Actually what's the point.

You can see in his eyes how much he loves New York and especially what he does. I've seen stories of people coming across him at shops and on the subway like he's _not_ Hamilton.
I don't think so. For one, Lin seems way less of a...ahem...tomcat...than Hamilton. Also, his passion is theater, rather than governance, law, or finance. He's got the drive and ambition, yes, but he might also be...maybe too nice? Hamilton fought hard and made few friends. But...he is an excellent actor and represents Hamilton well when he's up there.
