Chris Kaba had been caught on CCTV shooting a man at a nightclub and was allegedly a key member of a London gang, it has been revealed.
A judge allowed details of Kaba’s criminal history to be made public on Tuesday, following the acquittal of Metropolitan police officer Martyn Blake, who was cleared of his murder.
Kaba's family tried to block the release of this information. However, during the trial, the judge ruled that Kaba's past was not relevant to the case, so the jury was not informed.
Blake, who shot Kaba on September 5, 2022, was unaware of Kaba’s background and did not know who was in the car, which was linked to a firearms incident the previous night.
Kevin O’Sullivan speaks with former Met detective chief superintendent, Kevin Hurley.
