He wears his sensitivity like armor
It’s the core of who he is
His truest self.
His strength. His power
Empathy to understand
He’s not afraid to show his feelings
He’s secure with who he is
He wears it as a badge of honor
He owns it. He’s a proud man
He was guarded like you are
He wouldn’t let anyone in
He built walls to protect himself
But that’s no way to live
He tries to live by the Golden Rule
He pays it forward when he can
But hate breeds hate and
he’s grown tired
He’s losing faith in his fellow man
Maybe because his eyes
are aging
He can’t see the light as he once did
Heaviness weighs on his shoulders
Sometimes he just don’t care
He had hopes we’d learn our lesson
Our expense is in the red
We didn’t heed the warnings
Chose to ignore them instead
Consequence be damned
