EXERCISE TO TRY: Place a subject with interesting contours in front of you. This could be a house plant, your hand or even a crumpled piece of stiff paper. Place your dominant, drawing hand on a piece of white paper holding a sharp pencil or a fine tipped pen. Cover your that drawing hand with a light weight cloth and begin connecting your mind, your eyes and your hand . Synchronize them so that they move in complete sympatico. Try imagining yourself as a microscopic creature travelling over every bump, crevice, and fold. Try to record the topography and the outline all at the same time without lifting your pencil.
