David Lammy has said his talks with EU nations this weekend are "just the beginning" of his effort to "reset" relations with the bloc.
The new Foreign Secretary is on a tour of Europe for his first overseas visit, meeting with counterparts in Germany, Poland, and Sweden.
Labour has made it clear they have no plans to rejoin the EU single market or customs union, nor to restore free movement.
However, the party aims to "improve" the UK-EU trade deal established by the Tories in 2020.
Alex Phillips speaks with former head of MI6, Sir Richard Dearlove about Lammy's appointment to the role and the wider implications of national security and defence.

I think that every election there should be TWO votes. ONE for your local MP and ONE for PM! The outcome may have been very different! Many constituencies didn’t have a REFORM candidate which meant voters were unable to choose their preferred PM. Starmer won ONLY because the choices on the ballot were rubbish and denied many people their ‘choice’ of PM.
