Yeah the amount of evidence was so enormous that he didn't stand a chance, doubt it has much to do with her being a celebrity, although that does affect how much attention the press gives to the story.

I agree he had previously attempted to force two women off a train with a fake gun and got a suspended sentence. What about Angel Lynn? Her ex was originally sentenced to seven and a half years, then it got increased to 12. That is just one example of so many. I am glad he got this sentence but let´s be honest if his victim was not Holly there would be no way he would have been handed a life sentence.

100% This man physically tried to kidnap two air hostesses and actually held two Woolworths workers. He seems to have got very little punishment for those crimes but gets life for thinking about kidnapping Willoughby but never actually met her! I think it's definitely right that he is put away but it probably wouldn't make it to court if his potential victim was a regular person.

I often wonder why this story is attracting so much media attention.

The only difference her being a celeb made is that the news story is bigger. There was still mountains of evidence against him and he'd most likely have got the same sentence.

Certainly money/fame can get you special treatment. But you would rarely get 3 years, for actually succeeding (in killing somebody, in the manner he planned). The sentences are gradually getting harsher overall, for the worse offenders. Nowadays, it's often 25 years-to-whole-life, if you succeed in this sort of abduction/killing. Sarah Everard's killer is an example. He got whole life. But it was indeed ridiculous, this turd got suspended sentences in the first place (for actively trying to abduct women). That's definitely soft justice (although it was years ago). We can at least be glad he's always lacked an IQ, hence why he's always failed in completing his abductions. The British justice system certainly can't be thanked, that his attempts have always failed. For example - he managed to tie up two 16-year-olds, a few years AFTER being 'dealt with' for trying to abduct two other women. And it was even an American cop, who spotted the risk to Holly. This time, he'd been planning murder as part of his plot - and had been planning for years. And he was a repeat offender. So he would have likely done jail time, even for a non-celeb. But even if he finally got a decent sentence (because his victim was a celebrity), we should at least be grateful that women are now protected from him (for the next 15 years). The revolting little slug cried when he was found guilty. And he threatened to kill himself, after the sentence was read out. Guess he doesn't like the idea of being imprisoned, as much as he likes the idea of imprisoning. One thing we can say, though - he won't face sexual assault in prison (as he planned to do to Holly). There's no prisoner safer in the whole country, from sexual assault 😬

You'd be lucky to get a police response, unless a hate crime had been committed.
