JT's barn, grill&small engine repair. Your motto could be "It ain't got no gas in it." Nothing like taking a forgotten machine and giving it new life again. Brings out the kid in us.
Can’t wait to see your new shop when it’s finished. I love watching you bring dead machines back to life. I do that too but not to the extent that you do. Keep up the great work and keep those videos coming!

Yep, you are on a roll. Awesome when a plan comes together. Should be running and driving good in no time. Don't see many of those little Massey's around anymore. Good deal saving 2 of them.
An easy way to feed the fuel line through the flywheel shroud without removing it is to fit a full length pencil or same size wood dowel into the end of the fuel line and feed it into the back hole. It can then be maneuvered through the front hole relatively easily. I’ve done this many times when needed on these Massey garden tractors. The clutch works in conjunction with the variable speed drive and if the variable speed arm or the center movable flange of the variable speed pulley is stuck the clutch pedal won’t disengage the belts.
Excellent video JT :) also $50.00 dollar Massey Ferguson 12 Lawn Mower Tractor & I thought would run after you did bit fix up on and amazing too! Also you see need lights fix up on too and be all set ! Super see in action, first ride Tractor was Blue Roper my grandparents had help on grass cutting years ago not sure much about it except 3 in tree Manual transmission and one had home farm was Lime Green Firestone (Airens) , sat over engine on back over of 8 hp Briggs & Stratton also 2 pedal with Foward, Netural, Reverse below seat , one left pedal for go slow to fast , other right pedal for Park or Brake , bed 42 inches cutting lawn with 2 blade , no electrical start with key only rip cord and 3 gallon fuel tank! Pain keeps oil in dipstick+ tube pull out engine and tires turf types ! Did job till motor blew up on Crankshaft in half ! But was only $150.00 farm auction sale special said had been used for 25 years and fixing upper! Got 12 years out it !
I picked one of those up that has the deck, rototiller and the blade! When I got mine going it actually blew the muffler out and was spewing molten metal at me. Went with the same Amazon special carb and like yours, worked just fine. Keep up the great work in saving these old classics for everyone to see!
You should never use slime it is water-based and it will rust. Your rims. A better product is called tireject it is a liquid rubber compound with Kevlar and it will seal up to a quarter inch hole. I used it on lawnmower tires that had sidewall cracks and it’s sealed it up golf cart tires that are older than the hills that leak and it sealed them up
JT, ur amazing ability and desire to get that Massey 12 motor to turn-over and run, u did-it. runs and drive o.k. Best $50.00 find.. Fluffy much be in the house.
Man i love the old Massey garden tractors, im looking for a big brother for my 7 as well. Great job taking a fence row queen and making her run and operate!
Hey JT, I can see a problem developing! It starts with one and then, "why not two"? Pretty soon you're buying more, "just for parts"! My wife had to intervene when I had four jeeps lined up in the back yard and her car was left out of the garage. 😢 Is that a concrete slab I see? That "Big 12" may need roll over protection! Now about the forklift! Awesome! A few years back I bought forks for my Bobcat. I think I use the forks more than the bucket. Great for moving trailers around the yard and all sorts of other things. 😊
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 You should drill a hole large enough for the shank of a hitch ball into one of the forks about 2 inches from the end. You can also run a D-ring shackle through it for lifting engines and such with a chain.
What can I say, another success. Hope you get the clutch and variable speed working. I actually owned a 12 for a couple of years, it had carb issues but it had a working deck. Gave $150 for it.
Great job JT. That was luck for that to start up considering it had sat for how long. Those deluxe mufflers are nice. I just sold 1 for $200. Something to keep in mind is if and when you do a repaint, i know a guy thays got a decal kit for it. Shoit me a msg if your interested. And always grest to wake up o a Friday to watch another video of your. Cheers
Talk about total lock that’s two for two I would have gotten into that predicament of getting to items that I’ve always wanted and I would never be able to get them to run outstanding😊😊😊😊
One of my neighbors had a Massey ferguson lawnmower for my entire childhood and beyond. He kept it going! Anyway my dad rented his farm, now my brother in law does. He mowed the road ditch on both sides of the road with that mower. He leaned way the hell over to keep it from tipping. Good video JT!
John Deere was another one that put the battery right next to the fuel tank. Burnt up one JD 112 when the metal gas can accidentally bumped the positive terminal. Installed battery terminal covers after that one. Restored the burnt tractor and still have it and a second 112 along with a 110 with a bum Tecumseh.
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 yeah...my cars, trucks and tractors are the same way here....but on those, the gas tank isn't right next to the battery! Burnt up a nearly brand new jean jacket trying to put out the fire on the 112. Burnt up the wiring hood and dash. Not metal like the MF.
Nice work JT . Just needs some more tlc, & a oil change; Nice risk that panned out. One man's junk; Is another man's treasure. On a different note I'm behind on my buildings; I'm having a hard time getting the materials I need. It still seems be supply chain issues; Oh well plenty of other projects to knock out. Again congratulations on getting the M-F 12 up & running.
Nope gonna put the massey 10 back together and getter going Drive Tanker semi-truck for Gully Transportation and go to Houston Texas from Quincy Illinois every week so it's probably gonna take some time ⌚
Gas tanks that are dirty old fuel inside. I give the tank a few or lots of rinses with boiling water and dawn soap. So you can't touch the tank because its too hot. Then pressure wash the tank. Had good success with that method.
Jt. I would restore that one as its the right size.the heck with the deck, the kolter needs the point sanded or replace ,i believe its the same size as my 74 140 JD. A little work horse for sure
Nice little Massey Ferguson 12. My uncle had a 12 years ago, back in the mid eighties. I don’t remember his having the chrome muffler guard. His was a variable speed version. Nice to see it runs. Hopefully the barn is moving forward. Thanks for the Videos, Have a Good Weekend.
Won’t be long the whole series collection will be lined up and operational. You’re right on the forklift being useful, I have a compact tractor with forks and probably use it at least once a day. Saves the old back lol. Thx
That gas tank on the 12 will fit many mowers ,even my old JD 140 that many people are restoreing cause its JD green. If thats a good in yours, it worth $75 to $100 on ebay alone
I have the same. bought without motor and repowered with 102-04 perkins diesel 2 cylinder. Unfornately never finished.. My oncle have a 16 with this motor and it runs pretty good.
Another great save JT. And, I wholeheartly vote for the body and paint. There's gotta be a L&G tractor wrecking yard in your area. Find a deck, we Massey guys dont' care if the tractor is "numbers matching." Remember, you ARE gonna need a showcase piece for the "JT's Barn And Grill Small Engine Service mentioned below. And everbody else reading, rummor has it, that although JT says he"not addicted to MF lawn tractors, he is looking for a 5, a 6, an 8, a 10 and a 14. Obviously, not running. Obviously I'm joking. Don't bug JT, spring is here, he needs to work up the land, it's planting season on the horizon, he has the new shop to build, AND paint and polish on the 1800. Jt great video, fantastic find for 50 bucks, and is Fluffy on vacation again? Damn it, even my boss don't take THAT much time off.
Grandpa had a Massey 10 many years ago and not to long ago I was able to pick up a 10 in pieces for $50 dollars and couldn't pass it up also got 3 case 220's a 442 and a 446
I love it 👍excellent job mate 💪when it stared running it put a smile on my face 😀i see the concrete is ✅ cheers from down under 🇦🇺have a good weekend jt
JT, Looks like with a little love that MF'er will make a sweet little tractor. Is that a 12hp Kohler? Also the square body Chevy PU looks nice as long as the MI salt has not gotten to it. Always enjoy your content/channel. Thanks, Boe 👍👍
My 10 with a manual was the same way, also make sure you check the tensioner for the rear belt(located under your right foot), mine likes to stick once in a while and you will feel it slipping even though the clutch is fully engaged to move.
Good Morning J T , Ya that is really cool no doubt about it. You will have it fixed up in no time. I have a question, I saw the other day a Massey Ferguson SNOW MOBILE , do you have one ? I wasn't aware that they made them. Great video, have a Great Weekend. 😊
