The only foul play involved is whoever decided it was safe to fly. From people that actually understand flight conditions and the helicopter they were in, there no reason they should've even been in the air. THE RESCUE TEAM COULDNT FLY IN THE SAME CONDITIONS. Do an investigation to figure if the pilot was incompetent or if the officials were pig headed enough to force the pilot. That's about all.

The truth is that sanctions does not affect the elites in Iran in anyway, sanctions only affect the common people. Iran survived these sanctions for more than 40 years now, and every time it is the ordinary citizens that suffers the most. Will you all please get a helicopter pilot on here? As a helicopter pilot, I can tell you the most difficult, dangerous flight environment for a helicopter to fly in is inadvertent weather near mountains, especially the winward side of the mountains. Also... the Iranian President doesn't make policy... he carries out the policies of the Supreme Leader. He may advise the Supreme Leader but the Supreme Leader calls the shots. The IRGC and Supreme Leader handle military policy and most of their foreign policy. What does an Iranian President do? Defends and implements the Supreme Leader's policies. Raisi was only notable for enforcing domestic policies with brutality. Iran's policies will NOT change because of this death. The main impact is this throws Iran's succession plan into doubt. A potential succession crisis following Raisi's death could have major implications on the region. Until then... nothing.

@@robertm3561 prior to the 1979 Islamic revolution Iran bought all their aircraft from the United States. Since 79 they have had to purchase aircraft and equipment from the Soviet union and now Russia and north Korea. That helicopter was probably the "nicest" non combat aircraft they had.

I think they use the term “conservative” in the general sense due to the fact that the American term and usage of “conservative” (meaning Freedom, independence, etc) is the opposite usage across almost all of Europe and most of the Middle East. Not sure when it originated but that’s been my understanding from everyone I know from those regions.

I do not believe this was foul play. I think Chuck Holton did the best assessment. He is a war correspondent, and was a helicopter pilot, having flown this participating one. As soon as it happened, he predicted Israel would be blamed because they blame them for everything, and surely wouldn't miss an opportunity to. This chopper is so old they don't even make parts for them anymore. It was the wrong altitude, and shouldn't be flying in that dense fog. It was a recipe for disaster. If he was murdered, it wasn't by Israel.

Being worth a hundred million, or a couple hundred million, or a couple hundred billion is all the same when it's a politician, who is supposed to be a representative of the public, who made all of that money while in a government position. The amount of money doesn't really matter. All that matters is they embezzled, were bribed, made bets on companies that they knew were going to experience a windfall due to policies that were going to be passed, or all of the above. Their gains were gotten through crooked means.

But why? Why go through all the effort of an international assassination when the result will be exactly the same? The old regime will get back in power and it's the same foreign policy wise. You go through all that when you have a proxy ruler set to take their place. No, it's more likely the old regime wanting to go back into power. They're the only ones who benefit, because again, nothing changes for the us or isreal with the leadership change. That or a crappy helicopter(due to sanctions) in a bad area. I'm leaning towards the people who are looking to become the most powerful and wealthy in the country again...
