Home sweet Hamtramck 💕 Coney dogs are chili dogs. The call to prayer was what they heard when they pulled into the Hamtramck Stadium (baseball) area which is undergoing major renovations. The flags on Campau are sponsored by community members and coordinated thought our Human Relations Commission. Thanks for visiting!
In the 99 years since its incorporation, every mayor of Hamtramck has been Polish American. That will end January 2, 2022 in Hamtramck's centenary year, when Amer Ghailib will be inaugurated, along with an entirely Muslim city council. With every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Thank you for this video. Where are the people? I was born and raised in the tenement slums of the South Bronx. We were crammed into congested, tiny apartments. I'm used to congestion, crowds, noise around the clock....
The videos are beautiful. However, I thought that taking road trips was about stopping into communities, getting out of your car and actually meeting some of the people who live there and discovering things about neighborhoods. What are you learning on this trip if you are just googling a few facts that it doesn’t even seem like you are reading and just speeding through neighborhoods with a narrative based on your preconceived ideas? Travel can really be amazing and expanding if you keep yourself open to the possibilities of learning and experiencing new things!
Aha maybe thats how ur religion works but in muslims religion there is a prayer call that remind people to pray. same like u put remainder alarm bell for morning to get to ur work.
Hamtramck is a Muslim majority town. That’s why you heard the call to prayer and why you saw two women in full covering. Would be interesting to know what conflicts there are as Sharia isn’t compatible with Western cultural values.
A Detroit Coney Dog is a perticular style of hot Dog that's bigger with a natural casing in a steamed bun and toped with seasoned no-bean beef Chili, yellow mustard and minced white onion! (Shredded cheese is optional)
Lol and coneys are not footlong hotdogs. Detroit is known for our coney (chili) dogs that have coney sauce, onions and mustard only on a steamed bun. Go to American or Lafayette Coney Island downtown. They are the most popular coney restaurants in the city
@@majkizbajjki5505 I never learned Polish. My mom, dad, aunts and uncles spoke it when they didn't want us kids to know what they were saying, LOL! But yes, I'm 100% Polish. My grandparents came from there back around 1900-1910. I don't think Poland even existed as a country at that point in time. All I know My grandfather left his farm behind to come to America. I am also part Montek My Dad's Mom's Maden name and part Ubraczewski, my mom's dad. My mom's mom died when my mom was young and I never knew her maden name.
I 💙 Dearborn! I grew up there. Living in the warmer south now but miss the food, smiles and cultural variety. I wish someone would do short restaurant tour videos.
I came to the US in 99 from Poland landed in Hamtramck MI back then it was 40%polish 20 Bosnian and the rest were Arabic Bangladesh Albanian I can tell you now it's pretty much segregated east to west and on each part of city belongs to a certain nationality
Take Katie to Ann Arbor. And then come over the west side of Michigan which is the best side. Grand Rapids Traverse city. Lake Michigan beautiful beaches & lakeshores.
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS For Yemeni food, my favorite is Sheeba, however, Yemen Cafe is delicious too. For hipster tacos, Dos Locos Tacos. For Bangladeshi food, I like Aladdin's. For Polish food, Polish Village. For sushi, Fat Salmon.... We have so many to choose from. Balkan House is also super delicious as is Remas, Boostan, Motor City Sports Bar, all of our pizza joints...
Guys, please be very careful driving through Detroit! You actually need to speed through, and not drive around like a tourist! Hamtramck is pronounced Ham tram ick, all together. That town used to be a heavily Polish Catholic town. Pope John Paul 2 visited Hamtramck in 1987, that’s how significantly Catholic it was. Unfortunately, the Muslims took over with their Mosques, and those were the prayers you were hearing overhead.
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS maybe your southern life never lived in the real world. Hamtramck is literally the most diverse city in the United States. Maybe your southern ass doesn't understand that
@@kaydis5307 Okay, so you wanna talk about being up to date, and knowledgeable on demographics and geography.. how many states have you been to in the last year?
