I loved Kenny's reign. The revelation that Kenny was working hurt with vertigo made me appreciate him even more, and especially with how hard he has been going since the beginning of AEW. I hope he takes a good rest period as the Cowboy era gets underway.
@@jansmitowiczauthor78 pretty sure same music when nick and Matt won the tag titles at last years full gear, and hangman was in the hallway and he walked away
One of the greatest stories ever told in Professional Wrestling. Filled with such subtlety and nuance, that it truly, really, fully felt real every step of the way. Amazing stuff.
Imagine being the people who don't watch this series and realizing this story was 3 years in the making and pre dates AEW. BTE builds so many story arcs that so many have no idea where they came from. Congrats to Hangman.
that q and a when they were all still in japan. listing the american dragon and punk as 2 of the guys they wanted to do business with down the road if this idea worked out
I dint watch bte but still I understood the story, how the elite eventually helped hangman to beat the real heel of the story(his demons) and acknowledged their old friend as the real champion... Inspite of all the difference he was still their friend at the end of the day.
i mean you can still follow most the story without bte, but it definetly adds more depth and explanation that aew live shows dont have time to explore.
Hell fuckingggggg yeaaaaaa dude Aew just killed the game for that and kudos to Kenny for doing the right thing and putting hangman over stuff of legends
I was at the PPV and when they went in the back a couple people around me asked if they'd keep fighting without the cameras going with. I turned to them and said "Cutler followed. Something from back there is going to end up on BTE." Looks like I was right lol
Hangman tossing the beer away made me cry. My mom is a recovering alcoholic, and she struggles all the time. Seeing this story play out has really meant a lot to me and to other people who see themselves or their loved ones in Hangman. An excellent evening for everyone. You all should be proud!

This was also an easter egg when Omega wins the IWGP Heavyweight title in Dominion 2018. Before he got the belt, he hugged Matt and Nick.
I was at Full Gear and stood up in respect and acknowledgement of Hangman's win. My husband was confused knowing I'm an Omega fan, but you can't be a BTE fan and not acknowledge this long time story-telling coming to fruition. Well done Hangman, you do deserve this. Thank you Kenny for a long and wonderful reign and please take a long and well-deserved break.
Kenny Omega, Don Callis and Chris Jericho are from my hometown of Winnipeg. It's great to see three of Winnipeg Sons! Cheering them on!!! Still want to say that Fear Gear was a kick ass PPV!!!
Absolutely this. And that nod *had* to come from Matt, not Nick. There's been so much work put into this time just on Dynamite, but when you factor in the story telling that's also went on here in BTE...it was just perfection. And I hate that more people can't appreciate/don't know about that history to get just how freakin' damn good that was.
Just wanna say: thank you to every single person involved with this vlog, this company. I was one of the lapsed fans from the early 00’s. I had kinda heard about punk and the pipebomb and would watch stuff on RU-vid every once in a while, but when AEW started I came back in full and I truly couldn’t be happier. What you all are doing is unbelievable. It’s amazing and I thank you all so much
Same here... Huge fan in the 90s and stopped watching in 02 when I was like 17 or 18 and caught clips here and there and then heard about the young bucks and Omega in 2018 and haven't stopped watching since
Hell yeah! I followed NJPW and AJPW. Since western wrestling was disappointing and, imo, completely ruined the sport aspect in favor of entertainment! AEW finally brought something different, and while not always perfect, I have hopes for the future!
Ryan I agree💯 love wrestling again because of aew and great matches and great comedy that actually makes you laugh and not forced bullshit like that other company
Big props to Kenny for being how hurt he was and still having enough in his tank to put over hangman before he disappears to recovery =( miss u already Kenny get well!
Hangman's Tale is one of the best stories that has ever been told in pro wrestling. A story of overcoming speaks to people on a very fundamental level, tears were shed and the cheers were rapturous all over the world. Congrats Hangman you deserve this incredible moment!
I don't watch bte but still the story was amazing especially at the end when bucks acknowledge that their old friend has now beaten the real heel of the story(hangman's demons) and is now ready to be the champion.
@@kalzangtopgyal5304 Hangman's biggest enemy was always his own demons. I think tranquilo club made a great video about it but yea man this has to be one of the greatest long term story telling behind ofc Kota v Kenny. All of these moments are just a testimony to how great of a mind Tyson smith (Kenny Omega) actually has. Beautiful stuff honestly
1st: Congrats to Hangman, he deserves it. 2nd: Great job, Kenny as champ, go take some time off and get those shoulders healed up. 3rd: Thank you Brandon for getting your ass beat and still finding time to edit these amazing clips
Everyone in the comments are talking about Kenny & Hangman, and rightfully so, but I just want to acknowledge the fact that Rocky's moment of cognitive dissonance had me cracking up.
I kept saying "He's gonna beat Kenny!" My eyes were tearing up, matt's nod made my eyes water more, after the 3 i shed manly tears, then hangman tossing the beer away to hug them made me cry
@@incrediblemarv yeah man, he's been out for a while with an injury EDIT: Just double checked - He had neck fusion surgery, will be out for a while longer
The matches Kenny's been putting on with a body made of Sand and hopes and sheer willpower is exceptional Go for a few months and heal yourself the Title is in good Cowboy hands
The Hangman story has been the best long term storytelling I've ever seen. Absolutely incredible, the nod from Matt was enough to make a man cry. What a moment.
I can't stress saying it enough either, the Hangman Page era in AEW has officially begun and cannot be happier about the challengers and stories that are ahead for AEW World Champion Hangman Page! 🐎
please convey this to Matt, Nick, Kenny, Tony, Adam, everyone in telling this story of the Hangman. You really told a true grit Western and most westerns today cannot even reach the levels of character development you all did these past 3 years. Bravo job.
@@frankf684 He rides with a posse, he chased a badguy on a horse, he was in a barroom brawl, he returned to town to settle an old score, he was framed for a murder he didn't commit, he made a campfire, hats & chaps, once an evil cattle Baron tried to steal his farm ... ect ect.
Great storytelling with Hangman and I'm absolutely dying to see what happens next. The bit of him choosing to celebrate with the DO instead of drinking a beer was great growth and showed how far the Hangman character has come. Looking forward to his time as champ
Hangman is one of the umble champ. He was starting a jobber for many years and working so hard to reach the top spot. It is so inspirational. He has no wrestling family background or any privilege. Definitely a true people's champ.
Nick trying: "Crap, I keep messing up. I keep saying next week, but the ppv is tomorrow. Lol" Adam focused: "These guys are so dead... so dead!" Matt giving no f#cks: "Oh oh oh ohhhh, it's a catchy song, what can I say? 🤣"
19:23 and 19:32 ... men... I almost cry when I saw the Bucks telling with her eyes "Do it" Awww :'c what great friends and what a great moment to Hangman. I hope that Kenny returns soon, AEW won't be the same without him.
I love these videos because it humanizes these wrestling characters and shows that they are just normal ass people. Also it’s fun to see how comfortable and how much fun they are having. Just casually talking before doing a run in 😂
I was there at full gear and its kinda amazing to see them up close. Watching them on tv they become more than just normal people and its weird to see that up close we are all similar
I love the behind the scenes stuff, just love it. You see them nervous (which you think the vets there would handle easily by now), you see them bored, you see them just talking to each other and hanging out. Thankfully, more relaxed than I feared. And damn they do seem supportive of one another and of the success of AEW as a whole...that's probably the most pleasant thing to see.
Damn Kenny looked like he needs a long ass break from wrestling. Good job to both men. You can actually see hangman thanking Kenny at the end of the match.
Honestly he looked fine and like he was having lots of fun to me. But yeah hopefully he gets some much needed rest and time off even if it's only a lighter schedule and showing up every other week rather than every week.
@@aaronh3347 as an athlete myself, you can only compensate for injuries so much until your body finally breaks down. Kudos to Kenny for putting over Hangman huge despite the injuries that he has.
All the people involved in this are incredible. The time, effort, and physical pain these guys put in to give us these stories is incredible. But special shout out to Cutler, for playing a thankless role to peak perfection, while putting together a BTE less then 2 days after a PPV. Good shit!
I cried when Matt nodded at Hangman, when Hangman won the title, when Hangman embraced the Dark Order, and when they chnaged the name plate.Keep it up AEW. Congratulations Hangman You deserve it
Finally!! Praises to Kenny Omega. This dude carried the championship for a year with grace and power and now humbly passed it on to Adam Page. Now its time to rest before the next big comeback .
@@niolu1710 like how!? This man moves like a wrestling god, and he is not even 100%. Imagine if you give him a couple months to rest and rehab and get back to peak shape.
Also considering the fact that it was the main event and not midway through a 7hour show. Plus it was a properly planned to make the next big star rather than just for PR value of crowning the first black wwe champion.
I have been watching wrestling for over 30 years, and Hangman winning the title is my favorite wrestling moment of all time! Thank you AEW! Congratulations Hangman! You deserve it so very much!
this felt like such a major moment, years in the making, happy for hangman also looking forward to see what the next chapter in kenny's story looks like
A Big Thank You to Kenny Omega. What an incredible run he had in 2021. 4 belts, 3 titles, in 3 promotions, in 2 countries. Epic matches vs Rey Fenix, Jon Moxley, Rich Swann, Moose, Andrade, Sami Callahan, Orange Cassidy, PAC, Christian Cage and Hangman Page in AEW/AAA/IMPACT.... .....all while wrestling with injuries. Pro Wrestling Illustrated's #1 Pound for Pound in the World. He deserves a well-needed rest to heal and re-charge. Truly the Best Bout Machine!
Congratulations to Hangman winning the championship. What a great journey we've been on up to this point. I teard when he slapped the beer away and went in to hug the Dark Order instead.
I shed tears seeing Hangman hug everyone in the back. The redemption is complete, but the story is only beginning!!!! Take as much time as you need to recover Kenny! You're a goddamn workhorse and you deserve time to heal up! We want to see you at 100% when you do return! No cutting corners! Your health is THE TOP PRIORITY!!
Matt Jackson nodding at hangman was one of the best wrestling moments ever! Up there with the I'm sorry I love you super kick haha this was awesome 👌🏽 COWBOY SHITTTT
This made me emotional, after a very long time i have seen such perfect storyline, it’s even more amazing to me bcz i have been watching bte since 2015 it makes me happy and proud to see the heights that THE ELITE have reached . THANKS
One thing I love about AEW is, even when you're sure something is going to happen the way it does (Hangman winning), there's still all that emotion. Hangman's character development has been some of the best development in recent memories. I'll admit, I almost teared up when he won 😅
Can't take anything away from Kenny Omega. Who carried 3 companies on his shoulders simultaneously. AEW World Champion, AAA Mega Champion, and Impact World Champion.
this is just beautiful.. long term storytelling 3 years in the making.. bte n AEW told 1 of the best wrestling story's for me of all time and the best 1 I see n some time
We need to give a metric shit-ton of appreciation to Kenny for the run he gave us, especially while dealing with all his injuries/health issues. This is the culmination of the power of passion and planning, and I can’t wait to see what AEW has in store for us next.
I already cried at the end of the match and then i cry again with that same little music at the end of the episode. The story of Hangman Adam Page is one of the most beautiful strory i've seen, even apart from wrestling. This match was a masterpiece, the storytelling was perfect. The first chills came when Omega throw this bad look at the fan with a sign about Kota during his entrance, then the fact that Turner was the ref, the look of Matt when he nod at Page, the celbration with the Dark Order made me think alot about when Kenny was crowed IWGP champion, tossing the beer to hold his friends (Kenny pushing the belt away to hold Matt). Thank you Hangman, Thank you Kenny, thank you Bucks. You're pure Genius.
Loved the Mall of America part, as I worked there for 4 years. I was at the first Nitro it was in the East Rotunda outside the train store. Being a WWE fan, i knew little about WCW at the time but my buddy was a huge wrestling fan too and talked me into going.
