This was my absolute favorite recording of Diana Krall performing “How Deep is the Ocean”. It was from her New Year’s Eve 1998 concert at Yoshi’s Jazz Club. No matter if there were noise from the audience but the performance is truly incredible and intimate. Her intro into the song was like so gorgeous beyond words. I love Diana’s piano style. Her interpretation of this song is exquisite!

@LisaRSArt - This performance was broadcast live on NPR's Toast of the Nation. I recorded it, but missed the first two songs ("Errand Girl for Rhythm" and "All or Nothing at All"). What's missing from these snippets on RU-vid and even on the Japanese bootleg that was available online for a bit, is the entertaining banter between Diana and the audience. At one point, she put a talkative audience member in their place by refusing to start a song until they quieted down. It was all in good fun. No stress. The only thing that marred the broadcast was the NPR announcer that kept making inane comments between songs. I'm sure NPR has this recording squirreled away in their archives. Maybe a high quality remaster could be made available someday.
