@@Swoosh_015 When I pulled muscles in my mid back and right shoulder I had to slide and push myself up a specific way because it hurt so much. To the point where if I were to bend my back, I'd posture with a backwards lean (for some reason it felt better like that) to try and ease the tension. Imo there's no way in hell it was a simple back issue. Even if it was, back issues connect to the spine and lower neck which sends signals to the brain stem/nervous system. My last year playing college football, I had a severe concussion. Continued playing through the whole game. There wasn't MUCH of a concussion protocol back then, but was checked out and cleared initially. That night I was in the hospital with neck spasms, vomiting, was shot up with morphine, and woke up in a CT scanner. Like I said, I played the whole game, and didn't start to feel "off" until our way home when the game was done. I was playing for free - I had no money incentive to play. I was just playing. These guys are making MILLIONS to play this game and there are always people hunting for your job. They need real advocates to say, your health must take priority. Just playing for the 10-11 years I did as a kid through high school and eventually college, I know I am left with permanent head trauma. I suffer from insanely debilitating migraines. McDaniel sounds ridiculous. Did anyone ever claim that the injury last week would cause Tua to fall in the same way Thursday? He answered a question that nobody is asking. The question is, did he have a head injury last week that opened him up to a more serious injury so soon after Sunday if he did take another hit to the head? His statement was utterly absurd and purposely worded to avoid answering the questions at hand. As a 40 year Dolphins fan, McDaniels need to go. It doesn't matter what the "protocol" said re: Tua's original injury. He suffered a concussion. I am a physician with experience dealing with patients with head injuries. When I saw how Tua's head hit the ground and his subsequent inability to walk steadily the first words out of my mouth were "significant concussion. He's done for today and likely some future games." It doesn't matter if he can count backward from 100 by 7's, knows what day of the week it is, where he is, the score of the game. It doesn't matter if his eyes react normally to light and he can focus. It doesn't matter if he tells you he is OK. You witnessed a man sustaining a blow to the head, grab his head, wobble "punch drunk" and stumble to the ground immediately thereafter. That means CONCUSSION!! I'm not sure who the physician was who "cleared" him to get back play but they have to be facing some very uncomfortable questions about their decision to allow him to continue playing.
@asnark7115
@asnark7115 Год назад
The most significant sign was the posturing immediately after the hit. Just for argument's sake; even if he hadn't wobbled or shook his head then fell down, even if he bounced up and finished the game somehow, he met the hard criteria for severe brain(stem) trauma.

If the NFL really wants to protect the players they should do whatever it takes to improve the helmets regardless of what the helmets look like after the improvements. In addition, if a player has a possible injury involving anything from the top of the brain to the bottom of the spine they should go through a thorough protocol and will have to take at least a week off unless there is written documentation submitted to the NFL by an independent neurologist to say they are cleared.

Why do you ommit the part where the doctors said last week that it wasn't his brain but his back? I agree that if his back was that hurt he should have sat out this game but if Tua and the doctors say it wasn't his brain, we have to believe them. You make it seem as if both the Dolphin and the NFL medical staff put him back in knowing he had a brain injury.

Look at it as two separate events. Sunday: for better or worst it was reported as a lower back and ankle injury Thursday night event: QB (slammed, rag-dolled, pile-driven) to a "cement" turf in a plastic hat. (when you watch the hit to the turf at regular speed, you can feel the impact [slow-mo takes the severity away]). I would say if he was 100% healthy before this event, he would not be after...

I honestly don't think McDaniels would have put Tua in had he known it was a head injury. What I think happened here is the Dolphins doctors told him that he was clear and Tua being none the wiser due to head trauma against the Bills thought he was okay to play and he very much was not. An independent neurologist should have been the one to clear Tua and not the Dolphins staff. That being said, as the HC, McDaniels should have went through further protocols regardless of what Dolphins dr's said. I get that McDaniels is glad that it's a concussion and not worse like several spinal damage leading to permenant paralysis, but still a concussion is a concussion regardless and it's still trauma to one of the most sensitive and vitals organs in our bodies.
