Watched the movie last night ,and after watching Road House with Patrick several times over the years , I think Jake did one hell of a job on the remake.
Beg to differ with the “critics” in these comments who say that this or the original are bad movies. They aren’t Forrest Gump or The Shawshank Redemption but they are good for what they are. Open your minds to other possibilities. Or not, your loss.
Big fan of Jake. Serious actor, deeply skilled. This was a waste of his talents, IMHO. See "The Covenant" if you want Jake Gyllenhall as a badass. Go watch the original Roadhouse. It needs no improvement.
Hollywood can’t come up with an original idea for nothing. The arrogance of these people constantly thinking that they can redo iconic movies better than the originals drives me crazy. It’s like as good as that movie was can you only imagine if we did it with today’s superior actors?
I think that part of the problem is that movies are so expensive to make. In order to attract investors producers pitch properties with a proven track record. The original made money, so a remake with actors that people like and have proven to be a draw will put butts in the seats.
@@toshikotanaka3249 what is really irritating about all these remakes, is that when they do a remake it’s like the originals don’t exist anymore. You never see the originals on tv anymore just the remakes. And to be honest I have never seen a remake that was better than the original.
@@1962egl Maybe it's just a time thing. Only so many hours in a day, only so many slots in a schedule. Maybe the owners of that particular television station believe their audience would rather see the latest version rather than the original. I have seen one remake that I thought was better than the original. "The Day the Earth Stood Still" the original was made in 1951 and the remake in 2008. I've always thought that NO movie ever did justice to the book it was taken from but "A Clockwork Orange" did.
@@toshikotanaka3249 _The Day The Earth Stood Still_ Is called that because Klatu makes everything stop to demonstrate the power of the forces he represents, who have sent him there to warn humans about their destructive ways. It's an absolute classic. The so - called "remake" totally missed all the marks. Really disappointing big budget nonsense. If people want to steal some ideas from a story and make their own, they should have the decency to use another title. _Pale Rider_ is just a rehash of _Shane_ - _Avatar_ is just a rehash of _Dances With Wolves_ - _LA Takedown_ was the original version of _Heat_ etc.
@@dancarter482 The original Day movie was about mans propensity for war, the second was concerning the environment. And the original was from a 1940 sci-fi short story called "Farewell to the Master". The original movie missed all the marks of the original story too. In the second movie all electronics on earth were fried which also demonstrated the power of the forces they controlled. But the insect like nano-machines that ate everything in their path pretty much demonstrated that also. Every story you mentioned was also taken from an earlier work. Do you think that "Shane" was the first story to ever depict people being driven off their land by superior forces but are saved by a hero? Those are in the Bible. Hero stories are thousands of years old. It's a standard premise. There are countless ways to tell hero stories, you don't have to stop with the original. I liked the second Roadhouse film although I thought it was ridiculous to bring in a psychopath to beat Dalton to death, why not just shoot him?
A lot of people commenting on how bad this movie is If you watched it and didn't like it that's fine You could always keep your comments to yourself Whatever you have to say isn't going to change the movie
Hollywood has no ideas other than to re-make old stuff & bash you for politics. I once was a movie buff but 100% of everything that comes from Hollywood sucks now
i'm a key west resident of 30 years, i never heard about hollywood making this poor movie, or whatever it was "glass key".... right... hollywood sucks, this movie sucks
my wife says that she likes the original Patrick Swayzee better. i keep catching her watching it on DVD. "get 'em Dalton!" LOL you can't make this shit up
Except it IS a remake. This is not an original idea. This movie is riding another movie's fame. Using 30 years of Roadhouse's name recognition, advertising and marketing itself, vampirism 🧛♂️, off the good will, name recognition, memories, and massive free marketing of the original Roadhouse. You Don’t get to leach off of someone else's work, then cry about comparison. 😢 You want your cake and eat it too.
Nonsense. And though I liked the original -especially Sam Elliot - the original movie was kind of stupid. Ben Gazzaras character was kind of a twit. I thought the action scenes in this one were quite good.
Just say it sucked, because it did. Why resort to tarring the whole industry? What about this stinker of a movie says woke to you? Grow up. Think for yourself.
Define woke? Lol…and what mattd said noting it will rubber band back a tad to the more positive. Eventually. But in some ways, YES, movies and how we perceive them thanks in large part to the internet has made for a lot of lame flix.
@leechap3 You haven't noticed the many box office disasters Hollywood has had in the last few years? Why? Because go "woke" go broke. People want to be entertained, not lectured by "woke " ideology just to appease the 2%.
@bartondean4260 Why? You're got these super hot petite Hollywood " what is a woman " beating the hell out of men triple their size, so why no " what is a woman " bar bounces? Good god man!....bwahaha
