Women, straight women, men, gay men everyone suffers from some type of discrimination. The tougher your skin is the happier you will be. Someones view or acceptance of you is out of your control so why break your head about it. Look up stoicism its a practice from long ago it helps control emotion. The worldview is the specific path taken which says (again, for incoherent reasons) "I am x because I identify as x". So I do think it can be helped, although I don't assume it would be easy.
