As an agnostic I’ll say thank you, you sound like the most Christian, Christian I’ve heard in some time. Also, Lovebites is the most metal, metal band I’ve heard since the late 80s . 🤘🏻🤘🏻

LOVEBITES' song titles such as "Crusade," "Holy War," and "Glory to the World" are so evocative of religion that one might mistake them for a Christian band, but like many Japanese, they are neutral when it comes to religion. In fact, the lyrics of "SWAN SONG" are inspired by Norse mythology. And the song title "Judgment Day" was chosen for the title of the album they are working on, not because of its religious connotations, but because of their own desire to let their fans judge the new LOVEBITES by the finished music. (They made the decision with the intention that the album titles would be in alphabetical order.)

Hey there, I don’t think that they are Christian band. I am just coming at this from a pastors perspective where I’m sharing what I’m getting out of the lyrics. It does not change the original meaning of the lyrics as how they were written. But, as I am always saying in the Videos themselves, that interpretation is left up to the person listening to the music. It’s often times based on personal experience, and where someone is actually at in their life. They are an incredible band, but you’re correct. They’re not a Christian band and I know this. :) still an INCREDIBLE band.

LOVEBITES - Judgement Day lyrics: Never lived Never died Never end No way to go Every night Everywhere Everything Arriving of darkness What is “right” What is “wrong” What is “sin” Who’s to decide? Hide and seek Truth or dare Playing tag Chased by the evil Another back and forth of gaining and losing Running out of my time Each tick of the clock’s taking down piece of my life again Who’s ally Who’s against Who’s to pick All in your hand Up and down, in and out, left or right, answers turn around What do you see in this world full of insanity? When the rain come to end, what’s waiting us Don’t look away This is the truth RISE! THIS IS JUDGEMENT DAY! Life - Given the “foreverness” RISE! THIS IS JUDGEMENT DAY! Life - Leaving name in history Tragedy in the past find salvation Now with the great will, the path lay in front of me Starting here, this is the day! SOLO: midori / miyako /midori /miyako / both Never lived Never died Never end No way to go Every night Everywhere Everything Arriving of darkness What do you see in this world full of insanity? When do we come to ask what's awaiting us, don't look away! This is the truth! RISE! THIS IS JUDGEMENT DAY! Life - Given the “foreverness” RISE! THIS IS JUDGEMENT DAY! Note that Lovebites is not a religious band. They may have some religious symbolism in a couple of their MVs but they are meant to be metaphorical. For this particular song, Asami (lead vocalist) highlighted in an interview the context of "Judgement Day" here. After their previous bassist left the band, they went on a long hiatus and there was a lot of uncertainty. People questioned if they would be back, and if they did, whether they would be as good as before. Instead of focusing on the past, she wanted the band to be judged by the music they produced and performed after they were "resurrected" from the dark times of uncertainty (their long hiatus coupled with the COVID pandemic). Hence the "dark" (symbolizes the past and uncertainty) and "light" (symbolizes the future) segments of the video mirroring each other.

LOVEBITES. They are listened not only by metalheads. Ladies came out of their metal genre and have wider spectrum of fans. They play Eclectic Metal. It means they blend as the first band in history all kind of metal mainly power and thrash with NWOBHM, heavy metal, symphonic metal, speed metal, hair metal, hard rock, rock, rock'n'roll, jazz, progressive pieces, funk and even punk. They mix all with classical music using operatic, R&B, soul and gospel skills of vocalist and grand piano and Spanish guitar skills playing. Sometimes they use typical Japanese melodic lines which are included in ENKAs_ melancholy ballads singing by Japanese women. Only their can do it. Obviously they draw a lot from British, German and American metal. All this makes their style unique. 🐺🤘LOVEBITES 🤘🐺 the team of five thrashpower metal goddesses from Japan_Tokyo. I think you understood very well what the song is about... facing your past hurt and smashing it instead of encasing and enshrining it as in glass. Part of this hurt comes from ourselves (the band members have both a dark side and a light side in the video, as we all have), and there's always another battle to be fought tomorrow (that's why the song cycles back to the beginning). Asami (the singer) has a lot of lyrics about battling inner demons, finding hope, overcoming depression etc., so this song fits right in with that. That said, as Japanese they're not Christians, and I would be careful not to infuse your own beliefs into the interpretation of their lyrics. They do adopt a bit of Christian imagery in a few songs, but in the song where that stands out the most (Glory To The World), I think you would find their "theology" a bit iffy from the Christian standpoint; although I'm an atheist, I'm an ex-Christian, and I do think I know that "the greatest love is loving yourself" is not exactly a Christian thing to sing. You have to understand that to the Japanese the Christian faith is mostly colorful foreign folklore, to be adapted to one's own esthetic purpose when the fancy takes them.

Hey there, I appreciate you :D Thank you for sharing your thoughts, comments, and suggestions. I always value people who share their heart with me. I try to make a space here where people can voice their opinions and thoughts. I look at these songs from a Pastor's perspective if I can understand the lyrics. I also try my best to make it clear that if you don't land on the same side, that there is room for interpretation. I know not everyone is Christian - I don't expect the things that I say will resonate with 100% of people. Interpretation is 100% based on someone's experiences, current place in their life, and can change over the course of time. This is where I am in my life, this is what I am involved in everyday, and ministry has saved my life. For someone else, it may have completely broken them - especially if the focus was on people and not on God. There's 4,000+ "religions" out there. I believe mine is true and the next will believe theirs is true. I think there's room for dialogue - we are all adults. The cool thing is that the folks who are requesting me react to these songs know I am a Pastor and know I believe that music is and always will be based on the interpretation of someone else. My interpretation or a work of art is going to be different than yours and yours will be different than the next reactor. The author of a book could be very intentional in writing about x, y, and z... but their reader who is struggling resonates with the details that talk about a, b, and c. They don't even see x, y, and z because of where they are at. We all have biases based on our experiences and most of the time, that's where we operate from. And it does NOT take away from the original meaning of the song. If things were that cookie cutter and everyone thought the same, things would be very boring. It's no different than the way you see my reaction. Sadly, there is a negative stigma surrounding Pastors for being pushy and unaccepting. I know that doesn't help. Personally, I believe in loving people where they are at. I'm not a universalist - I believe in Jesus. However, I have friends who are Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Pagan, Atheist, etc because it's not my job to force someone to believe. It's my job to share (like I already have) and then love that person in front of me regardless of the details. Again, not universalist - I just don't think that hating people or bashing people works. Different cultures are beautiful and are not something to be forcefully changed. At the same time, cultures shift, cultures change... and the need for acceptance and love is at an all time high. People struggle all over the world and feel like they have no hope. People battle depression and go through issues in their lives that change how they perceive the world. One of the reasons I started this channel is to show that there are Pastors out there who genuinely love people and don't operate from the place of fear mongering or forcefulness. I believe that religion as a whole causes problems. What I believe the love of God really is... is called faith. Faith doesn't cause division, greed, fear mongering... it just loves. It unites, it makes a way for Hope and I believe that that hope lies in who Jesus is to us as humans... if someone doesn't agree, that's fine. I can agree to disagree and we can walk away being friends. I've seen what division does and I've seen what love does and I'd rather stay on the side of loving people where they are at than hating them for something we don't agree on. And, the blessing is, with this reaction - I've put that I'm a Pastor in my name so I'm not blind siding anyone who clicks on my reactions. There's no reason to. I hope this finds you well. I can be long winded. haha. I'd love to hear your story one day. I put my email on my RU-vid profile if you ever wanted to chat. It's not often I come across an "ex-Christian" without there being a story behind it. I come from a place of genuinely loving people. The worst that will happen, is that we end up having a friendship based on the right stuff - mutual respect and understanding that we probably will agree to disagree.

@@pastorbrentreacts I would like to chat on the condition that you don't try to convert me or preach to me. We can exchange opinions, talk about music, life, whatever, but I would be very disappointed if I were to discover that what I thought of as a nice casual conversation was an attempt to missionize me. I'd like to address the notion of truth for a moment. I believe there is a Platonic truth, as in: there is one (1) reality out there that is not open to interpretation and relativity. We might see only a part of it because our senses and processing power are limited, but it exists. That has consequences for our attempted explanations of the world: they're either correct, or on the way to correctness once we have learned more and manage to iron the errors out, or they're not. Same applies to interpretation of art: there were thought processes going through the artist's mind (one of which could be that the artist intended to fashion his art so that it is open to interpretation, of course), and that means we are limited in our leeway to interpret. In a nutshell: the truth is out there; it can be learned; and once we have learned it, it is not open to speculation. If something is proven to be wrong, it cannot be made true by all the fervor in the world, and truth is not relative. That, in short, is where I stand in epistemology. You asked about my being ex-Christian. I did call myself that, but I guess I never was a very active or convinced Christian to begin with. I'm German; I was baptized a Catholic at my Granma's request, we moved to northern Germany, which is mostly Lutheran, my mother asked my if I wanted to attend sunday school for Communion at age seven (or was it eight?), and I said, truthfully, that I wasn't interested, and she let it be. Later on, when all my buddies attended afternoon school before Lutheran Confirmation at 14, I attended too, but mostly I think not to be left out. I went through the usual moral crises in puberty, and that is when I had what you might call a weak Christian phase--I desperately wanted to ensure a place in Heaven (but I think for entirely selfish reasons). At 19, I moved out, went to Berlin, where I still live, and one year later went to court and declared that I was leaving the Catholic church, which still had me on their tax roll (that's the procedure in Germany). What was left of belief in God waned in the years after that; I'm 57 now and have been a happy atheist for the last 30 years, but as you can see, I never was a strong believer to begin with. The environment in which I grew up was prosperous, nominally Christian, but in practice secular; much as you would find, e.g., in England. I don't begrudge anyone their religion as long as they keep it out of my life and don't try to make it into policy. I do think religious people have fallen prey to superstition and myth, but it is not my job to convert them either. My position can be encapsulated in an anecdote. The anecdote is of Napoleon talking to an astronomer, I forget who. The astronomer had built a moving model of the solar system as it was then known; I think Uranus had just been discovered. Napoleon was fascinated with the astronomer's learned explanations, but was not really possessed of a scientific mindset, so he interrupted and asked, "But where is God in all of this?" To which the astronomer replied, "Sir, I have no need for that hypothesis." Let's talk about music, would be my suggestion. I don't see us coming to an agreement over religion.

Thank you for your response and sharing your story. I simply ask because I know there's experiences that happen throughout our life that help us form the concrete truth of our perception. I really do stand by my statement of having friends in different walks of life. I would say out of my friends group, maybe 10% are Christian. I have friends who ask if we can talk about something other than God... I will be honest, it's difficult for me to do. To them, the mere mention of church can make them scoff and not want to be around me. Most of my "church" talk revolves around the question I'm being asked... "what are you up to today?"... they've gotten the hint that if they ask me that question, I'm gonna say, "working on the church website" or "studying for a sermon", etc... rarely do I go into detail after that. It's usually a passing convo and then moves on. I don't feel a necessity to expound on that because I know there's no interest. I live in the real world and if they asked me to not talk about God... but then asked me what I'm doing... I can at least answer the question. I really do believe in loving people where they are at. You're happy being an Atheist, cool. Much like you said, not my job to try and convert you. Here's a bit about me, as a human being... I'm a HUGE nerd. I'm in my 30's (I look 12), I love Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, cheesy love stories, comedy movies, action movies, rock bands like Blink 182 and Simple Plan. I also like bands like Slipknot, All That Remains, and System of A Down. I write music. I like everything from Classical to Rap and from Movie Scores to Metal. As my profession - I am a data analyst (a number's nerd), a drum & piano instructor (4 yrs - adults), and a website designer. Get me talking about data pipelines or SEOs and I'll talk your ear off. Outside of that, I enjoy funny cat videos, I love to go to new food places, and I love to travel with my wife. My grandma was born in Germany. She was adopted as a baby during WWII and came to America. I have German roots - always wanted to go there. Maybe one day. :D I started this channel ultimately to love people, not hate them. You are genuinely loved and appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to reply :D

@@pastorbrentreacts Being 20 years older, my pop culture was the Lord of the Rings (the book), the classic 80s' sci-fi and action movies (Star Wars, Alien, Terminator....), and my jam was classic metal most of all, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest etc., which is one reason why I like Lovebites so much. (What makes them really stand out to me, though, is not the genre and not the undeniable talent and virtuosity, but their songwriting. They have really, really tasteful and consistently good songwriting.) I like movie scores too. (Conan the Barbarian by Basil Poledouris!). This song does have multiple layers of meaning. On one level, it is about fighting against the darker part of yourself. But Asami has also said that part of it is about the band's struggle to be a force for light and positivity in the typically dark and violent world of heavy metal, a dichotomy they have portrayed in several ways, including in their costuming as well as in the lyrics of multiple songs. Another video you will probably be interested in is "Glory to the World." While LOVEBITES are not a Christian band, per se, some of their songs mirror Christian messages, and Glory to the World is their most overtly Christian song (at least the video is overtly Christian, as Asami stated that it imagines what it would be like for Christ to be reborn into the chaotic modern day). Lyricaly, it was written as a song of hope for everyone suffering from the COVID pandemic, while the video element was tailored to Christianity because it was released during the Christmas season.

Lovebites are the metal queens. My interpretation of Lovebites Judgement Day is not of the Judgement day the bible describes in Revelation 20:12. From a commenter @boyzyu here below in the comments section, Asami describes what Judgment Day means to them. For me personally, it's God who decides what is right and wrong and what is sin and why the world as it is today is explained in 2 Corinthians 4:4 " Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe."

That is cool the way you have the MV followed by the live version. Now you have a better idea how good this band is and there is so much more like this from them. 🤘 As for the religious interpretations, I get that you have those, being a pastor and all, and I appreciate very much that you are not the Bible thumper type, although I don't think we see eye to eye on very much in matters of religion. To me "faith" is believing in something without evidence, and I will never, could never, adopt that position. If you want to know where I am coming from there is a guy on you tube named Seth Andrews that has a similar background as mine and has a ton of excellent videos about religion and atheism. I can tell you are someone he would love to have on his program. What we can see eye to eye on is that Lovebites is a great band, my favorite in fact, and you love music, and I can tell you are a great guy despite our differences. That's a good observation. I think their outfits definitely add to the experience of their performances. :D Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

My brother in Christ.... Did you notice in the live the backdrop that said Lovebites also had the images of 5 empty caskets? I know that the vocalist Asami is Christian as is Midori the blonde haired guitarist 🎸. In Japan that is not a good thing to be. Christians are only about 1% of the population. I LOVE these ladies!!!!

the day of judgment is the coming of a manifestation of God. What is a manifestation of God? It's a human being like you and me, but spiritually in the perfect image of God. In other words, it reflects the divine spiritual qualities to perfection. Because God has granted his soul the ability to connect with and reflect the holy spirit that emanates from him. This means that the actions and words of this human being correspond spiritually to God's will. God's will is expressed through him, and is visible in the destiny God has chosen for his messenger. This is why Jesus said, "He who has seen me has seen the Father". The very nature of God is never incarnated in the real world. If there are verses suggesting this in the Bible, they are merely metaphors to be understood in a spiritual or secondary sense. God as Creator cannot be a creature at the same time. The painter does not incarnate himself in his own painting. That's why he gives his spiritual power to a human being, so that he can judge the actions of men by his word. "The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son. To take an image to illustrate this explanation, God is like the sun - his messenger is like a pure, spotless mirror turned towards the sun. In the mirror we see only the sun and its light, but the sun is independent of the mirror; what we see in the mirror is its reflection. When such a person asserts that he comes from God, and that he really has this divine power within him, the time that his earthly life lasts corresponds to the "day of judgment". For his mission is to divulge the message of God who judges mankind.

I'm just curious - so don't answer if you'd rather not. I see you describe yourself as a "Pastor", but you are employed in the secular workforce (you said this in a comment below). In my experience, Pastors are employed by a church. Do you have a congregation and if so, why are you not paid by them? Again, if you'd rather not answer, then that's fine. I realise these questions are a bit personal. Full disclose: I'm an atheist who spent 30+ years in Fundamentalist Evangelical Christianity, before "escaping" about a decade or so ago.

Hey there! Thanks for commenting. You're right, most Pastors are paid. I am an Ordained Pastor at an actual church. There are two Pastors at the church. Neither of us take salaries. We do a lot of ministry with communities who have been oppressed by the church and part of the issue is that there is too much power given to those who have the loudest voice. The way we operate is everyone is 100% volunteer.. people who want to serve God, can. Obviously, there are policies in place for those who become Pastors and Deacons. We believe you must be called, you must do the job of a Pastor before you become one. Trust me when I say that if you had told me 10 years ago I would be a Pastor at a church, I would have said you are out of your mind. We have Classic Evangelical Theology, except for one or two "minor" areas that we disagree on. We believe that God loves all people and can/does use all people - even those we don't understand...or don't like. (I have a whole lot of stories on enemies). We don't reject people because of who they are, what they have done, what they have been through, what socioeconomic status they have, or their level of tithes (because we don't have eggs in the basket AND that's between them and God..). In fact, we have a Militant Atheist who comes to service every other week because they feel loved and accepted as they are. They show up because we see them and acknowledge they exist. They've been to other churches where they were ignored, pushed out of social circles, and forgotten about. They show up because they are part of our family and though they don't believe, they are just as important as every other person who shows up. Love is not pushing people away, love is including people. When I was 10, I told God I wanted to see how other people lived. Little did I know to be careful what I asked for. After that, I went through a lot of really bad things. Things no kid should ever have to go through. As an adult, I went through some really traumatic things - if I share, my comment will probably get flagged. I'm writing a book though so maybe one day you'll read it. Where my heart is... if I have to be paid to go and love the person who walks in the church or who needs a hospital visit, I'm in it for the wrong reason. Now, I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with taking a salary... but I have found that for the community that we minister to, they are disarmed when they know we're not paid to be there but we are there because we genuinely love them. A lot of communities have been hurt by the church and the reality is... the church isn't a brick building. The church is people. When you remove the barrier of "having to be there", it changes the game on how you can really be there for someone - even with the limited availability because you work. Hopefully that answers your question? If you want to talk more, we can email. My email is on my RU-vid Profile page.

@@pastorbrentreacts Thanks for your response. I think the Christian church would have a lot more credibility if more pastors were like you. Some of the most arrogant and unempathetic people I have ever met in my life are pastors. To be fair, I also met some pastors who were wonderful people. It still baffles me that the majority of the white evangelical Christians in the US have embraced Donald Trump like he's the messiah. The fusion of right wing politics and segments of the US Christian church over the last decade or so, has convinced me that very few Christians take their religion seriously. Power and politics appear to be far more important to many modern Christians. Many seem to prioritise 'owning the Libs' over loving them or trying to win them as converts. So many right wing political ideologies are an anathema to the teachings of Jesus. Who would have thought that we would ever witness the day when a congregation of a US megachurch chanting in unison, "Let's go Brandon", which everyone knows is a euphamism for "Fuck Joe Biden". If God existed, which I personally do not believe is the case, he would be deeply upset and ashamed at what his church has become. Anyway, you sound like a good guy doing your best to help people, so even though we obviously have very different religious views, I wish you well in your endevours.

I agree, politics and Jesus should have never mixed... you'd think people would have learned with the way Jesus had words for the Pharisees and Sadducees...the same ones who mocked Jesus on the cross. In fact, I got sick to my stomach when there was a Bible created with Trump's name on it. Because that same Bible will be used to bash anyone who doesn't fall into the people that you described. Also, it's not our job to convert... it's our job to share our faith... there's no amount of pushing that can cause you to win someone.. especially with religious trauma. Whatever happened to just getting a cup of coffee? Or inviting someone over for dinner... Can I ask you a question? Why follow something you don't believe is real for 30 years? Feel free to email me if you don't wanna blast it out here. I don't wanna do that to you... but I would love to hear your story - if you're inclined to share it. I can assume that there was religious trauma but you know what they say about "assuming". haha. Definitely don't wanna be a donkey.

@@pastorbrentreacts I'm happy to answer, and I don't have any problem putting it here on a public forum. It anonymous anyway. I was raised as a Evangelical Christian and grew up in the church. People who haven't experienced it usually don't understand just how powerful childhood indoctrination is. Also, for most of my working life, I was employed by a Christian organisation, so my income literally depended on my continued "belief". Let's just say I had little motivation to do anything other than continue to "believe" what I'd always "believed". However, about 20 years ago, I started to care if my religious views were objectively true. I stopped ignoring or suppressing my doubts, and started educating myself. I could go on and on about my journey of discovery, but for brevity, I'll just say that over a period of years, I became more and more convinced that there was no good reason to think any of the truth claims of Christianity are objectively true, and plenty of good reasons to think they were not. Further, I formed the view that there is insufficient evidence to rationally conclude that ANY gods exist. So, I did the only intellectually honest thing I could do, and acknoweldged the reality that I now longer "believed". By definition, I was an atheist. The end result now is my life is infinitely better that it ever was as a practicing Christian. I love life and am happy every day. It's hard for me to overstate just how freeing it was to leave behind the burden of my religion and embrace objective reality. My only disappointment is that I didn't do it years earlier. That in a nutshell is a very brief summary of my story.
