I remember watching Let it Be in a small theater in May of 1970. I also remember crying because they had broken up the month before. I thought this was the last time I would ever see the four together. It was a very emotional time for Beatles fans.
i just turned 21 and got introduced to the beatles and i can’t stop jamming to them, i can’t even imagine how it would’ve been like listening to them ALL ALIVE in their prime man o man
That was a sad time when they did. All things have this time and have it's time and it's run. They did a beautiful thing bringing people together and beautiful music and there time.
@@revenqe6843I was born in 64 myself. And I remember when they first started getting more popular on the TV. I remember loving it and I was so tiny then.❤😂
I'm japanese and I can't understand English well. So I rarely listen English song, but I think Beatle's song is excellent song. It gave me courage. I love Beatles!!!!
Keep listening to their songs. This will help your English: Yesterday It won't be long All my loving Please please me I saw her standing there And more!
When Paul started singing Let It Be at 1:36, tears immediately began to flow. As someone struggling with severe depression, very often my mind is a million miles away from Earth. Let It Be is one of The Beatles' many songs that help bring me back down, and what Michael Lindsay-Hogg says immediately after could not be more true to me and many others I'm sure; "they did bring joy to the world." These four men have touched the lives of billions around the world and will continue to do so for lifetimes to come. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Paul, Ringo, George, and John.
I hadn't thought of Let It Be in that way - helping those who suffer depression, but I can understand that. Right now, I really like The Long and Winding Road. I didn't appreciate it as much when it first came out and I was young. But now, when I listen to the song, I think he was saying to his friends that the long and winding road is a journey, and sometimes a struggle, but not the end. Pretty mature theme. I think McCartney was the only one who understood that.
I never understood the negative comments behind this amazing initiative. History is finally restored and the entire Let It Be project has come full circle, first with Giles amazing remix of the album in 2021 and now with the movie. Let It Be can finally be enjoyed as it was meant to! Love it or hate it this is History!
I will say the restored version comes across much happier and fast paced than I remember it. I enjoyed watching it more than Get Back. Then again I love hearing full songs instead of just snippets of songs.
Well... they will be... I've got the DVD of the Get Back sessions😊... Wow... Get Back sessions... Now and Then.... Let It Be 😊👍 Thank you Peter Jackson 😊👍
I've got a dvd copy of Let It Be from eBay for 5 pound. It's not a great picture, but it's good enough to watch. It plays on both my dvd and Blu-ray player. I will get the blu-ray version in time, but coz i have all their films, Get Back documentary, Anthology box set, Eight Days a Week, and coz i've waited for over 40 years to watch Let It Be, i can't believe i could get a copy for a fiver. I don't have Disney+ so i am just suggesting to anyone who hasn't seen it get it from eBay for now. ✌️
@kevanbrown7620 l have had a copy for years, same thing not great quality but very watchable . Had one many years ago converted from laser disc. The one I have now is probably same thing. Back in the 70s Let it be was shown on TV many times over the years.
@@michaelrose3101 I think i have vague memories of it, but i was born in 69 and i must of got into the Beatles when i was 12 when someone brought the Red album into the house and i couldn't believe how every track on 4 sides was just brilliant. I got the Blue album for that X-mas and then that was it. I've collected everything they've released, including the Get Back documentary, but i always wanted to see Let It Be. I now am so happy. Thanks for the post micaelrose 👍 I wish you all the best, take care.
I grew up listening to the Beatles. He's right when he says they brought joy to people. Such joy for me as a youngster. I feel emotional now when I hear them.
I find it remarkable that the creative process and interpersonal relationships of these four young men still holds fascination fifty years later. Their extraordinary success and influence over generations of fans is astonishing. Harrison rightly said, " The Beatles will exist without us. " That's the truth.
I'm always happy when the public is reminded or even discovering The Beatles. I saw them on Sullivan and 19 months later .. saw the boys Live on my 9th B-day. Aug1965PortlandOR I kinda never got over it.
May 1970, what a time! Invasion of Cambodia, Kent State. I was a freshman at UT in Knoxville. Walked to the Tennessee Theater up the railroad tracks with 3 or 4 friends, smoked a couple joints. The Beatles were such a big part of our lives, since 1964. Loved Let It Be!
I waited for the whole of the Get Back doco for the moment when Paul let fly on I’ve Got A Feeling in the rehearsal but as wonderful as that series was, this iconic moment wasn’t in it! I remember seeing it as a child and it blew me away - it was my favourite part. Saw it again tonight in the original Let It Be and am so excited and filled with that original joy - decades later and the whole film is so clear in my memory. Thanks so much for restoring this piece of music & cultural history!
Love the Beatles so much ❤️ my brother was in hospice & we sang Beatle songs together. They were his favorite band too. Thank you Paul, John, George & Ringo for the joy you all brought to Joe, my dear brother ❤❤❤
I first saw this film around 1975 in a theater. I became a Beatles fan in 1973 at the age of 11, so I was thrilled to see Let It Be in a theater because it was never shown on TV and there was no cable TV, no DVRs, no RU-vid and no Internet. I stayed in the theater to watch it again!
There you have it. It's the addendum to the Get Back docuseries. Same film I seen in 1970 at the theatre, was out on VHS for a time, and of course circulated as a dvd bootleg in the 1990s.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Never thought I’d see this released again in my lifetime. What a precious gift. And, honestly, it feels like a completely different film than when I saw it before. Maybe it’s having the perspective of “Get Back,” but watching this with fresh eyes, it’s a wonderful snapshot of an unrepeatable moment in time. Thank you, Beatles, Michael Lindsay-Hogg, Peter Jackson, Apple, and Disney+!
everyone's pretty old in this comment section (not in a bad way) but for some reason I apriciate the fact we are all here together, young and old to share this historical moment , i hope you all are doing well
I'm not old, YOU'RE OLD!!! 😤 (Okay, I might be a little bit old. Just a little bit, though. I'm definitely not a lot old...at least I'm pretty sure I'm not.)
Let it be movie shows how much went into perfection tension between each other among wife's into the mix didn't help being distracted but over all look what came out. PERFECTION at its best as always. Four lads who grew up with each other and topped the world with nothing but excellence. Always was number one and to this day nobody comes close to what they did from 1963 up to 1970. Eight years with a lifetime of music from the GREATEST band that ever crossed the world. Gotta love them
Just watched it - the restoration looks beautiful. But I don’t understand the reputation it has. There are moments of tension between members of the group but for goodness sake they were writing and recording an album of new songs. That would be stressful. But that they did it reveals The Beatles’ superpower.
I think because the restoration is so well done, with small snippets of extra footage and dialogue which seem to lighten it from my bootleg DVD. This really is great!
Just watched it!!❤ I loved it!!!! My only complaint is I wish it was longer. Peter Jackson said there was something like 50 or 60 hours of footage he went through for Get Back. I would watch every minute of that if I could. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I was initially disappointed because it just reminded me of Get Back. But now I realize that anything regarding the Beatles so many years after they broke up made me realize that they’re just as popular now as they ever were-that people still love them, including my daughters!
I love this movie because it’s much faster paced with song after song after song. Peter Jackson’s version was more about the construction of the songs so you only heard snippets of songs. In Let it be you get whole songs live whether it be in the studio or on the roof so I would watch this one more.
This movie has always been fascinating as it shows The Beatles working their craft at a time when the band was coming apart. Yes, the band was coming apart. A lot of RU-vid Beatles fan sites wanted to believe Get Back The Movie showed that the band was not falling apart, everything was A-OK. But in January 1969, George had quit the band, John was a heroin addict not showing up for rehearsals, Paul was at his artistic peak yet being painted by the other Beatles as. a control freak trying to take the band over, and Ringo was Ringo. I won't watch this as Get Back was enough for me, but even here in this clip you can see how The Beatles could pull themselves together as John and Paul do wonderful harmonies on the Two of Us promo done the day after the Rooftop Session.
I don't have Disney+. I have loved the Beatles for almost 45 years and have everything they've released except the Let It Be film which i've waited until now when i got a copy of Let It Be from eBay for 5 pound. It's a burnt onto a blank dvd copy, and the picture isn't great, but it's good enough and it plays on both my dvd and Blu-ray player. The best deal i've had since i got the huge Anthology book from a charity shop for 7 pound, which completed my Anthology cds and DVD box set. I will eventually get the Let It Be blu-ray version, but just for anyone who doesn't have Disney+ or the Let It Be film it's definitely worth having.
For years I always wondered if this film would see the light of day again. I last watched it on BBC2 in 1982. I later owned a bad-copy of the film which was so dark it was like watching it with sun-glasses on. When they released Get Back last year, I didn't think we would see the original Let It Be film again. I wonder what changed Paul's mind.
Caught the first half yesterday. The show was such an easy game to play. Now I need to watch the rest today. Oh, I believe it ends today. But seriously, John and Paul rocked out on Two of Us.
Fantastic bio film of Beatles. ❤ I hope the music-videos from that film era come out to. From "Let It Be", The Long Windy Road" and "Two Of Us", stil wait for Beatles's RU-vid channels give those iconic music-video out. 🙏❤
I wish they matched George’s guitar solo with the video. In the video George was playing an earlier version of the solo and the audio used the overdub he recorded later
I'm curious to see what differences there are to Peter Jackson's version. The original film is supposed to show the less light-hearted and humorous scenes. But it's great that the songs are shown here in full length, as I've heard.
Peter Jackson intentionally did not use any footage from Let It Be in his Get Back film. I heard that there might be some duplicate scenes but from different angles. Been over a decade since I last watched Let It Be so I don't recall if that's the case.
Wow that's awesome!! I love the song let it be. I was always one of those people that are humanitarian type . For the words just get to you when you're listening to it. Music is such a soothing thing to listen to specially music with Meaning. I always loved collecting music . Some CDs I can just sit there and listen and sing along with it. 🥰❤️. I used to like to sing in school. I think about four semesters in high school singing in chorus. Of chorus in churches to..
