For all those cheering, You are clearly not seeing the broader picture nor the longer-term consequences! It’s actually worse than simply making whistleblowing (essentially) illegal. The US has now prosecuted a FOREIGN national for a domestic crime, in absentia, for a (supposed) crime not committed in the US, with no defined victim, purely because they wanted to and not because he actually did something wrong. This is something they’d never have gained a conviction for against a US citizen because of the constitution - BEFORE NOW. But now they have a precedent with which to challenge its ‘interpreation’.

Im in Australia. There has been very little mention of Assange over all the years he's been confined obviously as part of an agreement with the US government . As we speak you can watch the live coverage on our national broadcaster the ABC of his release and arrival into Australia. Not saying it's not momentous, but the hypocrisy is cringeworthy. . Halfway through 2024 and it's already the wildest and most consequential year in recent history. Listing every noteworthy event that's gone down would take far too long because we've seen massive breaking news in technology, science, politics, medicine, military war, spirituality, truth and character being revealed on both the world stage and our individual personal lives, criminal consequences coming due etc etc...but has anyone else noticed that it all seems to be pushing one single extremely important question to the forefront? A question that seems to need to be answered with exponentially increasing urgency as each event unfolds while we hurtle closer and closer towards this feeling of a crossroads at the end of the year. The big question of whether we're going to choose imprisonment, oppression and lies for the rest of the foreseeable future in exchange for comfort and safety, or whether we're going to choose our freedom, transparency and reaching our maximum potential as individuals and as a collective civilisation for the rest of the foreseeable future by coming together to fight and sacrifice for what's rightfully ours. Or maybe I just gotta find my marbles, who knows? 🤷

Can you blame the man for accepting a plea deal...his colleagues around the world turned their back on free speech and due process and justice and honor. If you feel the need to be a whistleblower, you'd best not have a family or remove yourself from your family, because while you may be able to handle whatever punishment is dished out, your family may not be able to, nor should they have to. Julian Assange has been punished severely for years to the point his life and his health have been permanently affected, and he wasn't even responsible for getting the information but merely published it, nor does he owe any loyalty to the USA since he's an Australian citizen. If our government can't keep its own information secure, then they deserve all the grief any whistleblower gives thm.This whole case is mindblowingly dangerous, but I guess the state (and Mike (scum) Pompeo) finally won as Pompeo had an actual fatwa out to "get Assange". Our government has turned in criminal scum! Any REAL journalist should be very careful what they publish from now on and any journalist worth his/her salt should be fighting this precedent in any way they can. Glen Greenwald will give an honest break-down of what went on here, as well as with Edward Snowden, and the secretive corruption of our own government is mind bending.
