This video blew up! Here are some improvements based on some comments, and some new ideas I thought of: - The lift hill barn (Tiana's unfinished restaurant) will be extended up until the current Louis garden area, with flyers and radios playing broadcasting that Prince Naveen has arrived. It will also show how Naveen turned into a frog. - Dr Facillier's shadow lurks throughout the whole ride, up until the lift hill showing that he is following you. - More critters from Splash Mountain will be added to fill in empty space, and to sing along! - The finale will be like the ending of the movie, with Tiana in her dress from the movie, but on the showboat! - Also to everyone saying that the structure cannot hold the willow tree... its a concept video! Also if Disney really wanted to, they could. They have WAY more than enough money to figure something out. - Brer Rabbit on the front of the logs will be kept on some, but replaced with other critters on the other logs. Not only did they do Splash a disservice. They did Princess and the Frog a tremendous disservice! The movie provided so many great things that could have been used in the ride. It was practically HANDED to the imaginears. Instead, the believed they knew better and came up with this employee owned food co-op, safari find the band Tiana.

Very cool! I would've added Dr. Facilier's shadow lurking around and haunting us in a few of the projection screens where the fireflies are if I were an Imagineer, something to kind of plant a seed in people's minds that he's up to something before we get to the final drop. I would perhaps also place an animatronic or projection of him casting a spell on us above the second drop where Mama Odie is.
After the Dr Facilier scene before the drop, Tiana could appear as an audio-animatronic in the next scene and say something like 'That was quite unexpected, but there ain't nothing he hasn't tried. I guess his friends on the other side gave him a bit of payback, hmm?', then there could be a projection screen or visual effect showing Tiana transforming back into her human form after Dr Facilier's curse wore off.
I call for a re-retheme!!! This is what everyone wanted when disney said they were rethemeing thus ride. Disney ruined a classic disney ride. They messed up, BIG TIME!!!
For once I agreed because I didn’t expect Tiana to be doing another gloating solo act without naveen because I always think of them as a pair rather than single. Otherwise one of these days I’m gonna give her a taste of her own medicine or she’s been ignored and he’s more attended.
This is the thing. My problem isn’t that splash mountain got replaced, no no no. I was excited for Tiana. The thing is, is that USA Disney thinks everything needs to be new and immersive! Look at Japan, the rapunzel and frozen ride. They took the stories STRAIGHT from the movies. And here we are in USA Disney, having “blockbuster” lands like Star Wars and Avengers land (I even forgot their names) that I forget to even walk in! Nobody wants a new story, we want the original ones!
Galaxy’s edge is incredible, with one of the best dark rides in the world with rise of the resistance. Avengers campus kind of sucks. I don’t think the problem is new stories, it’s that Disney is afraid of putting tension on their rides right now. Tiana’s lacks the tension that splash had originally. It also sacrifices the magic that the original had for more advanced animatronics. For example, the original didn’t have modern animatronics, but it did have life, everywhere. There’s to much empty space in the new ride. But don’t go hating on some of these modern Disney lands. Galaxy’s edge and Pandora are absolutely breathtaking. Toy Story land is decent too.
@michaelm763 galaxy's edge has one good ride and all i think about now when riding it is how much better it would be with actual Star Wars characters in it.
I mean rise of the resistance and guardians of the galaxy: mission breakout are both amazing rides tho. I don’t think new stories is the problem, it’s conflict needs to be there.
@talkingweevil3172 when you make a star wars themed land, Darth vader has to be in it. Excluding him and the story that was beloved for 40 years and worth 4 billion dollars, according to Disney, was a truly baffling decision.
Personally, I would prefer that they bring back Splash Mountain. But if that isn't an option. Here's how I would do the story: Tiana and Naveen are getting ready for the Mardi Gras celebration. When Louis tells them that the best celebration is in the bayou. When they get there, it seems like every critter is playing a musical instrument. But then they get word that Mama Odie is in trouble. It turns out Dr. Falicier is trying to possess her from the other side. Therby returning to our world and stealing Mama Odie's powers in the process. During the lift to the final drop, we see Faliciar and Odie duking it out. But just as she's about to throw him off a cliff and back to the other side. He drags our log with him saying: "If I'm going down, I'm taking you with me." Thankfully, Mama Odie saves us just in the nick of time. The ride's finale involves the bayou musicians and the musicians of New Orleans partying together through the streets of the city. The ride then ends with Tiana, Naveen and Louis waving goodbye, before the log ends up back at the station.
Somebody at Disney 100% suggested and laid out something just like this. Look at the outside concept art that Disney created themselves and is shown in this video. The OP does a good job summarizing how it should be done, but it’s is the obvious way it should have been done(in a good way) It’s mind blowing Disney was able to screw it up so much. The issue probably wasn’t Disney not thinking of these ideas, but rather that to do it “right” as this video suggests would have cost 3-4 times as much. And Disney cares more about money than a good ride at this point.

I would absolutely ride your version a thousand times over what we actually got! It's a ride that celebrates the movie and doesn't make any shortcuts with its environments and characters! Bravo! Also, let's get rid of those creepy armadillos with their watching eyes. I honestly don't know why they're there to begin with. They're very unsettling lol
This video is more exciting than the actual ride. I thought it would be cool to make the section right before the lift hill look like a cemetery cript with an AA Fecilier. And then after the plunge, we see his tombstone like in the movie. And I will never understand why they didn’t keep the steamboat and had Mama Odie laying it down on the pipe organs, which the pink flamingos replacing the chickens, Tiana and Naveen dancing, and of course Ray and Evangeline shining from above.
Very nice! I feel this would be a better ride than what we got. One thing I would add since this is basically perfect, I would keep the sign at the end of the ride that said “it’s the truth, it’s actual, everything is satisfactual”
It's not that they missed the opportunity, they banned the usage of voodoo in the ride because of their religion iconology mandate which also bans tiki. Yes, Disney finds Princess and the Frog largely problematic too.
Effortless . The ride flew by because the scenes flowed so well. And it followed the lighting and musical and subsequent emotional tones of splash mountain much better bravo
I really love Mardi Gras decor and New Orleans esthetic and I thought Tiana's was going to lean heavy into that style and have everything dripping in beads. It's really unfortunate they didn't take that approach.
Oh my heck that was PERFECT!! I loved how you still used certain things from the ride, like how the same animals are in it, while also adding A TON!! I bet if the ride changed to this is would’ve been so much more successful than it was! I also loved how you still incorporated the show boat and the Swamp Boys! Both would’ve 100% fit in the ride!

This is amazing! The only thing I would change is that I would put a large beautiful dr facilier animatronic right before you start to climb the hill where the brer fox with Brer Rabbit bee hive thing was and then on the part right before you go over the drop put a little figure of Naveen and Tiana as frogs tied up by rope and have the shadow next to them as a little callback to splash mountain and throw dig a little deeper after the second dark drop and have going down the bayou just be the first dark drop so that the finale song can be a group rendition with a bunch of voices singing almost there similar to zip a dee doo dah since I think that’s the most recognizable song from the film. Maybe change a couple lyrics about finally having each other or something corny like that. Also maybe at the first bayou scene when Naveen says a blonde or two and there’s just empty space they could find a way to make an animatronic of him with the butterflies…
Great video, this is what I expected the ride to be. The actual ride has so much empty. Honestly looks like it's still a work in progress. Not sure what they were thinking.
Yes, this is the problem, complaining about this ride people act like you must be racist for liking Splash Mountain. While I think that is ridiculous (Brer Rabbit was a story told by African Americans so I don't see how it's racist to honor their stories and share it with millions), but that aside, they played it so safe with Tiana's Bayou Adventure that it's boring!!! Searching for musicians? Who cares??? This concept is SO much better, why did they think that no one wanted to feel any kind of suspense before going down a 50 ft drop??? They focused on making good animatronics (not enough obviously) and nothing else.
Great concept. Great video. Excellent use of the music. Shows Disney could certainly have created a fun, joyous ride with a little scary element too. Loved this.
I loved what you proposed. I also think the wall and the signs/banners are really ugly. :/ Now Im just wondering who is the 3vil force in Disney that doesnt allow the first drafts moving forward and see the light just like the first sketches shown for Wish. We all can notice there are great ideas, huge talent but somehow they manage to take them away and take bad decisions.
Better Music choices for sure!!! Love the ideas! Keeping the River Boat & a few Splash Mountain critters would have been a perfect way to keep old & new fans pleased. Also a tribute to the original designers & builders of the ride. Can't believe they took out so much that could have just been updated & reimagined .. & save time & money.. crazy
I got goose bumps on the "Are you ready?" part of the ride. HUGE improvement. 😊 I've no doubt that your much better ideas ran across someone's desk, but the hyper focus on "messaging" is clouding their every sense of fun, excitement and adventure.
I'm not gonna lie, this is exactly what a Princess and the Frog attraction should've been, you gave the perfect examples and what does and doesn't need to be changed and honestly I know this won't happen but at D23 in August Disney should announce a full remodel to the attraction giving it more like your idea in this video, this ride is just disrespect to Splash Mountain in all ways, we need a real Princess and the Frog attraction, tho I think Adventure should not be in the title
Now THIS is what i would've LOVED. THIS is what they needed to do to blow people's minds and forget about the wonder that was Splash Mountain. Instead they made a ride about....food...and musicians...
As a Universal and Disney person, the Imagineers should’ve taken inspiration the drop on Jurassic Park River Adventure or its Jurassic World counter part, with something more exciting at the end. Having Dr.Facilier would’ve definitely been a great fit. The retheme was a good idea, but there was so much wasted potential.

I like this a lot! I'd add Tiana in her princess ballgown and Naveen animatronics at the end where mamma Odie is. I think there is a lot of good in the current ride, BUT I just don't know why they didn't base the ride roughly on the movie. It still looks like a blast and I can't wait to ride it, but I like your layout better.
I don’t believe the ferry boat would be able to support all the figures they would need for the end, especially Louis, they’d have to completely start from scratch, so the zip a dee ferry would still need to have been destroyed and rebuilt to support them all, but it would still be a major contributor to splash
They have the beast transformation on the beauty and the beast ride in tokyo - we could have possibly done the same with frog - Tiana naveen transformation! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 i agree with theming this ride have it follow the movie we all love.
Wow... This concept is 100x better than what they made! Hopefully they watch this and fix this ride! Mama Odie battling Shadow Man before the big drop sounds super epic!
You know what doesn’t make the ride look SUPER swampy in my eyes since..I’m literally from a swamp area (Florida)? Having next to ZERO Spanish moss anywhere!! The Bayou isn’t very colorful, it’s more bushy and green and covered. Like in the concept art for this ride
I honestly don't think a retelling of the movie would work on this ride system. The concept definitely seems a bit janky here. Instead, I would make some original story about Naveen's younger brother going missing and Tiana and friends going down the bayou searching for him. They would come across a critter community that came about from mama odie's bayou magic whatever (it should sort of be like those critters you encounter on Splash). The critters are shown doing their critter stuff and some of them decide to help Tiana. There should be some small subtle shadow projections/effects here and there to hint at Dr Facilier. In the area before laughing place drop, Ralphie is seen being taken by Facilier. They eventually find out Dr Facilier has returned in shadow form and needs a human sacrifice to escape the shadow realm completely. I'm thinking of a bunch of really cool shadow-reality phasing effects in the former laughing place. The lifthill will have various shadow entities as seen in the movie before mama odie interrupts and saves the day. Ending should be the mardi gras party. This concept should work better, since the sensor trigger system used for the ride obviously doesn't work well. Instead, the ride will have looping animations and dialogue; all the scenes I came up with should work just fine.
In the log ahead of whomever was filming this, it kind of looked like *Drew the Disney Dude.* If it was not, he has a twin out there somewhere. BTW your ideas were brilliant, where's the thrills Disney, where the intrigue; watch this and you might learn something.
This is what I’d hoped for. I doubt they redo the ride. They’ll blame us for not liking it 😂. Disney really really really shit the bed hard on this one.

They didn't probably add more animatronics than spalsh mountain is maybe because they used america sings animatronics and tianas bayou could've added some animatronic qnimals from spalsh mountains Iike frogs maybe a gooses but idk if they would work but yeah and these are new animatronics maybe even more realistic but its yourr opinon it also takes time to make animatronics so yeah idk why people fight about but they just clossed because what it was based on was racist so yeah heres your explanation.
That’s it, that’s the problem. It’s not Splash being replaced by Tiana, it’s the fact that they should have stick to the movie plot and add MORE ANIMATRONICS, and of course Faciller drop would have been amazing and a good reason to drop. The plot of the ride have no sense, the animatronics despite well animated look dead as hell when they are waiting a boat to throw their lines, that’s not very bayouish outside… the only good stuff is the end of the ride. Honestly they can remove all the animatronics and call that « Mountain and swamp garden visit » at this point 😭
its an opinion he has maybe he doesn't hate it and just wants to put in his insight and what he would change about it. personally i think Disney kinda fumbled not basing it around the first movie for the Dr Facilier for the big drop of the ride but theres always a chance they might add him during Halloween.
I like the red rock work. There just needs to be more trees and long grasses. Cat tails and willows. The big problem is just the story. I would have loved if they kept it the original story but it is a little complex and may be very hard to transfer it to this ride without it seeming confusing. In my opinion I am not a big fan of the name Mardi Gras Mountain A princess and the frog adventure. Many people don’t know what Mardi Gras is (especially little kids who are the target audience for the movie). And they may not read that last part. The story could be that you are traveling through the bayou to get to her restaurant. In the way you meet familiar characters including Tiana and Naveen who are helping you on your journey and then Dr Facilier and his friends on the other side appear and they turn you into a frog. Then Mama Odie saves you and you make it to the restaurant.
They need to think bigger because I didn’t expect Tana to hog all the glory without Naveen. They’re supposed to be a marriage pair not feeling like they’re divorced. I wish Tiana was never the protagonist from the start or the ones who defeated shadow man I always bet on boys.
I wish if shadow man was in this ride I would enjoy this seeing him turning naveen and Tiana back into frogs again because I like them better this way.

They didn’t add the tree and boat on top because the structure of the “mountain” wouldn’t be able to hold it. It’s just not strong enough for something so massive. Bayous typically have large open space so that’s perhaps why there is so much open space AND you can’t call it a mountain anymore because THERE ARE NO MOUNTAINS IN LOUISIANA!!! Heck, Bayous are below sea level so they shouldn’t even have waterfalls. While this has some good ideas, I just don’t see it working but yeah, let’s be real, Facilier should have been in the attraction regardless if he’s dead or not to hype up the drop.
Is the dirty water a special effect? Honestly asking since it looks filthy but I could be water coloring or maybe the waterway was painted brown underneath the water
@@legoman7695 gotcha. Maybe it stands out more for that reason. I’ve only been on the Disneyland version and I don’t remember the water ever looking like that.
