In celebration of “National Heroes Day” in our country Philippines, I am happy to share with you the famous poem “Mi Ultimo Adios” - My Last Farewell by our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal.
He originally wrote this farewell poem in Spanish and was translated in English by Charles Derbyshire. This was one of his last literary work which he wrote before his execution on December 30, 1896.
In this poem he exalted the beauty of his country and professed his love for his fatherland. He is willing to die for the sake of his nation’s freedom and independence. He bids farewell to all his beloved family, friends and fatherland whom he dearly loved.
