It’s so generous of you to mention everything you use for your beautiful pieces and with such clear instructions. Thank you for another excellent tutorial!
I decoupaged some plates about 2 years ago using fabric. I made them for my beautiful grand daughter to put Santa's cookies on that me and her had made. I love decoupaging.
Thank you for the tip for separation of layers. I have arthritis in some of my fingers making this task very irritating The worst is pulling bags apart. I love the Christmas plates. The store brought sets are very costly. Thanks for letting us know what can be done 😊
WOW! I have been putting the napkin and mulberry paper on the front. Guess what I am going to do today!! Thank you - thank you - thank you!!! Your #1 Texas fan!!
Very beautiful! My supplies from Vippies' arrived so fast. This coming weekend, I'm off for three day weekend and going to work on my Christmas project. Thank you for this tutorial!
Thank you for sharing your expertise with us. One of our windows has birds flying into it regularly. I've been looking for a solution that's both affordable and fits in with our tastes. Your video has given me a great idea: what if I used your method to create a mobile with (for example) PET plastic sheets. Sure, the initial expense is going to be considerable (I'll have to buy everything because I've never worked with those materials before). But on the other hand, it will last for years to come (looking at the small amounts you used in your video).
thanks so much for posting this tutorial, I wanted to try this for christmas but wasn't sure how, now I feel confident to go ahead, thank you and keep your DIY's coming, love them
Oh my goodness I just found your channel and I love your projects. I also really like your clear instructions, the good views you provide, and I love your upbeat personality and presentation. I do not watch tv - who needs it? I’m watching you make pretty things while I peel thanksgiving potatoes. Thank you so much!
If you mean the underside where the mulberry paper is? You can but you wouldn’t see the mulberry paper. You can try a very light metallic on to; but you still may loose some of the mulberry paper. Try, you never know what you will come up with
Love your plates Joan-Marie! Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial. The mulberry paper really makes the plate stand out. I love it! Where do you get your little containers with lids at?
Hey 👋🏻 Miss Joan! Hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! TYFS- I love to see different decoupage techniques! 🙄 Now 🤓, I do know & you did mention that we could use the dishwasher safe Mod Podge & it would be top rack safe after the 29 day cure time 👍🏻. You didn’t use the dishwasher safe mod podge you used a different varnish. On the bottom of the screen, as you were telling us the name of the varnish, 🤦🏻♀️which escapes me now, it said that you “hand wash” your plates. If you could please explain what that means? I’m not quite sure if we’re able to submerge the plate in soapy water or, just a soapy wrap over the top with maybe a quick rinse & immediate dry? I’m just not sure 🤔 what the correct cleaning process is that won’t destroy the beautiful creation on the plate? The other question I have is that you said we could put as many coats/layers to make it smooth, do you sand in between each layer? Thank you 🙏🏻 for any clarification that you can give me, I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge! Have a great day 😃!
Hi! Many people ask about dishwasher safe so I just provided the information that was given to me by the manufacturer. I hand wash my plates because it’s my preference. No soak just a wipe clean and dry. I don’t sand between coats.I just tell my viewers what I do to make these plates. Hope that helps. Happy Thanksgiving! - Joan
Love those plates! Awesome job and thanks for sharing how to make these! Also the round flower napkin and the sloth napkin where did you purchase those two, I know you said your order on vippie but I did not find those to there?
Hi Ana! Thank you for watching! I got both napkins from Vippies Designs. It is possible that both are sold out because unfortunately that’s what happens when I do videos. The sloth (panda?) that may be coming back. Vippies has tons of beautiful florals and more are on the way. Take another peek and you may find something you like that is similar 🙂💕 Joan
Hi Linda! Yes let the Mod Podge dry before applying the mulberry paper. Did I leave that out? I say it over and over in every video I thought I drive everybody crazy! Lol Happy Holidays! 🙂
Ok, I have a dumb question but this is my first time learning about making these amazing plates. What does the back feel like after it’s done? Is it smooth? Can you actually eat food off of them or are they only decorative? Sorry to ask so many questions. I’m excited to try!
Hi! This is reverse decoupage so you can use it for food. Quick hand wash and dry! Several coats of sealant and it is smooth! Take another quick look at the video if you are unsure of the steps. Also there are no dumb questions! Good luck! 🙂 Joan
Loved your videos. But could you help me. I’ve been trying to find a video showing how I can transfer a photo on a small white corelle plate for a wedding anniversary. Could you please help me with this? I have one son soon to be 25 years married, and the other son soon to be 10 years married. Trying to surprise them with the plate to either hang on the wall or using a plate holder. Truly would appreciate your help. Need one in June and the other in July. Hope you can help me with instructions for these. Lucy
These are BEAUTIFUL!!! I just subbed, and I'm starting to do my own projects. Quick question..do you sell what you make? Do you have an Etsy store? I'd buy stuff! ❤
Hi! I rarely sell what I make and I spend so much time on my videos I don’t have the time to explore an Etsy shop. Thank you for the very kind words! ☺️ Joan
In my video I brought up “Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge”. Read the ENTIRE manufactures instructions on the label CAREFULLY. I would not, but you decide. - Joan
Hi Sharon! I put the link for the mulberry paper in the description under the video. It’s exactly the one I use, it’s a nice bright white. Thank you for watching and happy holidays! ⭐️🙂Joan
Hi Karen! I wash my brushes when I’m waiting for something to dry. If I can not get to a sink I put brushes in a cup of water. Clean brushes with Mod Podge as soon as possible. 🙂 Joan
Hi Rosemarie! I got the paper off of Amazon. I put the link in the description under the video for exactly what I used. Thank you for watching! - Joan 🙂
