She took care of her mental health now She is stronger and took home the Gold🥇🥇🥇 🩷💐🩷💐🩷💐🩷💐🩷 Congratulations to her and all the Olympians❤️🌍 Best in the World
And she came from behind, she was in 3rd place after her mistake on uneven bars and she still won by over a point. That is what a great champion does. Can you imagine Simone without mistakes and deductions WOW!
changing the sport, changing the conversation about mental health and sports she is the best. And Suni Lee? First AA Gold medalist to medal in the next AA since Nadia. Go USA.
@@deloresmatt8643 sir, yes sir!!!! Hahaha. I look at all the dominant players in any sport the same greatness, but I prefer Nadia, she had perfect form rewatch her balance beam routine.
No "redemption" to be had here, she did the right thing back then, she got flack from people who have no god damn clue, then she came back, was healthy, had the right mindset, and went in and did her business. Very good chance that if she continues to compete in Tokyo and puts in a bad, mentally weak performance, or worse, gets herself hurt, that she never manages to do what she did in Paris. Gymnastics has just as much a risk for life-affecting injury as any harsh contact sport, what we saw from her over the course of the past 5 years is not just gen z mental health "softness" or whatever you wanna call it, it was an athlete doing what they had to do to compete at the highest level for as long as possible.
Biles needs no "redemption." Redemption is for someone who has done something wrong. She was also catching a lot of mental hacking from even the Olympic Committee. Imagine being officially penalized for _being too good._ That's crap right there.
Yea, she stepped away for her mental health … equally important, it could have caused her a deadly fall if she didn’t care for herself. The fact people were such keyboard bullies is insane.
The Inflatables, Hobby Horse, Pogo Stick, and that bouncy ball with the loop handle. I was a menace on the Hobby Horse but I lost half the skin on my knees from that damn bouncy ball.
At about 2:25, Rich starts saying Biles 6 gold Olympic medals is the most all-time. But, that's not true. It's on the 3rd most. Larisa Latynina has 9 Golds. She also has 5 Silvers and 4 Bronzes for a record 18 Olympic medals. Vera Caslavska has 7 Golds and 11 overall. Biles is the all-time U.S. medal leader. But, she already was going into these Olympics.
We were all in a bad place back in 2021. Covid variant after Covid variant. Deaths are down. 80 percent of the US vaccinated. And people are out and about. Any wonder that she didn't want to step out and compete in those conditions. We're all in a better place now.
I know they are both married to different people but if we can just get simone and michael phelps to have a kid together we could have a legit super human
If social media existed when MJ stepped away, I’m not sure he comes back. Or he doesn’t come back and three peat. People would’ve been brutal. And Simone stepping away was about mental health and physical health. A wrong move and gymnastics and the outcome can be devastating. Not the same in other sports.
Those who were calling her quitter during Tokyo piled on acting like the calf was going to give her an excuse on either not performing again or not doing well. They're not cheering her, they're so quiet, you can hear the crickets.
Anyone else would have flipped a huge bird (to all those who whined and complained because their small and tiny lives were ruined and who had never competed on a local let alone a world stage) and said "How ya like me now?!?!". Or at least on the inside.
What nobody is saying is if she had performed and did badly she could have lost them a podium spot she trusted her team enough to get the job done and they did for the most part got a silver
I was going to compare Simone Biles' dominance to Tiger Woods, but Tiger had Jack. Biles has nobody but herself. She is the unquestioned GOAT of all GOATs!
To me...4 years ago...I believe she had mental issues BECAUSE she was performing poorly(which the scores showed in the trials AND the Olympics)...not the reverse. She quit in my opinion. (and many others...) So what tho...she is still the best ever at that sport.
You clearly didn’t see the videos showing how her landings was as a result of her having the twisties. Had nothing to do with scores. The sport is very dangerous on the best of days, let alone when your mind and body are not sync.
I think a lot of her hate was due to the timing of it all. Going through the US trials and all that before making her decision. And she was due to be one of the highlights of the entire Olympics. So of course people were upset. Felt like they had been teased. But it did allow Suni Lee to shine. And boy was she pretty big in these Olympics. Her beam & uneven bars routines were up there for showstoppers like Simone's floor routine.
No the hate was because people are selfish unwilling to walk in another’s shoes. What would make someone experiencing the twisties wait until championship time to admit it?…yeah, right they wouldn’t,clearly it happened right before she acknowledged it. Stop and think before you judge.
@deloresmatt8643 whatever, bot. Those are personal emotions so it's for NOTHING to do with being empathetic. It's that people were expecting a thing, got upset they weren't gonna get that thing, and acted all butthurt about it. That's like 99.99999999% what hating is about. Someone or something didn't do or kept you from something you wanted. Metallica didn't play Battery so now you hate on them for it. The Cowboys beat the Eagles for another NFCEast title so the Eagles hate on the Cowboys. So Simone was being hated on for the TIMING of dropping out OR they're just racist and hate seeing minorities be successful when their lives must suck.
@@jimmygreer2140 about the selfishness and hate re:timing. Rather than illiterate maybe it’s a matter of comprehension. Do you really think she had the twisties before the Olympics? Don’t answer, I’m out.
I admire her moxie and the fact that she was able to come back to Paris after what happened to her in Tokyo. My question is why did it take her so long to figure out she needed to walk away? Why did she arrive in Tokyo if her head wasn't right? How could she not know that she wasn't 100% when competing for a spot on the team in May, then arriving in Tokyo in June and July?
Because of the expectations placed on her by the entire world. She’s the GOAT so she was expected to put the team on her back and carry them. Not her ADHD-but the pressure and expectations of a national were on her tiny shoulders. She’s a giant in gymnastics but she is only 4’8. There are contracts and deals already made. She had people counting on her. All of that is a lot in and of itself but she also knew she would get so much hate. And she was right. It wouldn’t have mattered if it was before that she pulled out and she may not have had them when she left for Tokyo.
