A judge has ruled that provisions of the UK’s Illegal Migration Act should be disapplied in Northern Ireland, as they undermine human rights protections guaranteed in the region under post-Brexit arrangements.
Mr Justice Humphreys also said aspects of the Act were incompatible with the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).
Deputy leader of Reform UK Ben Habib joins Kevin O’Sullivan to discuss this further.

This is nothing to do with the ECHR. The UK judge in a UK court has ruled that it goes against the Good Friday agreement which the UK negotiated and signed up to as well as going against the Windsor Framework which Sunak himself wrote

People come illegally stay illegally work illegally and then after few years they are eligible for stay here in uk if they have a baby..otherwise you have to stay and work illegally continously 20 years then you will be eligible for stay in uk..one of the worst rule and no one talk on this issue thats very strange..

If the Royal Navy received instructions to monitor the English Channel UK territorial waters they should successfully resist and turn around all illegal inflatables. Any icraft in serious trouble would be assisted when being turned and the French authorities notified to collect. Dealing with the problem at source cuts out the costs and delays, interviewing, providing preferential housing, legals etc.

People smugglers should get 100 years in prison. Those boats could be full of terrorists. Anyone throwing there passport and mobiles in the sea in the way should get 10 years in prision for deception. There should be a law where any one coming into the UK for any reason needs to always have fully paid for valid ticket home before they get here.

The Irish People only have to enact the Good Friday Agreement and have a Referendum, which will happen anyway in the near future . I don't think Ben is being honest here, as he is quite clear of this Agreement.

@@Judgementday-qp1ol not really. Play with words all you want, but there are two separate jurisdictions on the island of Ireland, one being Ireland and the other being Northern Ireland. This ruling helps Ireland as most migrants want to stay in the UK. They can now do this in Northern Ireland without fear of being deported to Rwanda.

@GerryAds I can only give you the official Government figures, 80% of illegal migrants are coming from Britain through the Six Counties to Ireland. The Six Counties jurisdiction is tiny, so I can't see all the illegal migrants that is expected staying there. Ireland is full at present, so the Belfast Port will have to be enforced, if the People of Ireland are not going to be over run. We all have a Vote under the Good Friday Agreement to end this unjust Colonial jurisdiction.
