“Theatrics…” Piyush Goel and Amit Shah challenge Derek O’Brien on ‘Sheesh-Mahal’ comment

Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023 in Rajya Sabha on August 07 amid sloganeering by Opposition MPs over the Manipur issue. Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien interrupted Union Home Minister Amit Shah after the latter said there is a “Sheesh-Mahal” built in Delhi. The Trinamool MP addressed the Rajya Sabha chairman and said, “Sir, when we speak, you stop us. Sheesh-mahal is allowed?” His questioning was followed by an uproar as both sides tried to argue their observations. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar pulled up TMC MP Derek O'Brien, and said, “You only got up to create disruption and disturbance”.

He was rude,impolite, ill-mannered and unbecoming of the member of the parliament. The chair should take an appropriate action against him to keep the house in order.
