I'm a clinical technician in an ophthalmology clinic. We also do optometry and I do this procedure (refraction) all the time. This is gonna make work tomorrow...very weird.

I wonder where in the US (assuming it is the US) Habitsville is supposed to be? Because the ratio of nightmarish otherworldly weirdos to reasonably normal people seems awfully skewed. My guess would be somewhere in Maine (at least that's what Stephen King has led me to believe)

@@nyx4506 I'm pretty sure "health insurance" is referenced at some point, the characters use North American expressions, and iirc there was some kind of geographical reference to an "east coast" or "west coast" at some point, but I might be wrong (also all of this could imply Canada, except the health insurance thing of course, although now that I think of it I might be mixing up this series with another one with that, possibly Lily Madwhip). In any event, it could indeed be some kind of alternate reality, but still take place in some version of the US or Canada (there are certainly implications throughout the series something is really wrong with reality at the very least)

I don't really understand what happened... Sooo many questions, that I don't suppose will ever be answered such as what were the girls? How did the doctor come to possess the eye? Why in the world did the doctor want the eye? Why was the protagonist's eye a suitable replacement? Did this have anything to do with the string of headaches that brought him there, or was it just the most unlucky day of his life? But I guess a lot of that is part of the mystery factor, and so..
