The British Army attracted different people when it was meritocratic and prestigious, not because of DEI. For example, heroes such as Fijian Talaiasi Labalaba at the Battle of Mirbat, Nepalese Lachhiman Gurung in Burma during WW2 and mixed-race Sidney Cornell in WW2 Germany.

I've very fond memories of having MoD money spent on me when I was a lad. I was in the CCF and got lots of free sailing, including a fantastic week spent at HMS Raleigh. That money could be far better spent on existing CCF and similar organisations, and expanding them. Not only would it probably encourage diversity, but it would also, albeit in a small way, improve the preparedness of our armed forces.
Clearly Rear Admiral Chris Parry is highly educated and very knowledgeable, you cannot fault his common sense. Let’s wait until there is a conflict, lets then recruit an army and then train them so we can do something about it. Yep that's a brilliant idea. Though I do agree with him that we should not recruit based on diversity, it should be on ability and capability. If you are not capable then you will not be able, so you will be no good to us.

He missed the RAF dicriminating against white pilots . The court cases that were brought were won .The HR Officer lost her career because she had to resign as she said it was illegal and could not be implemanted.
Im not a military man but some of the things he said rught there was ... strange? Lol... You want to be prepared in the event of a war, surely? Not say, we wont spend the money on army recruitment as all is quiet on the western front...
