He gained respect the moment canelo was about to end the match. Cuz he knew it was different getting in the ring with him. There’s even audio of plant praising him during the fight.
i think its just basic nature between men. Things change when we fight. yes money played a factor but it was icing on the cake. Even if you beat a dude up and he got some licks in, you still respect him for fighting you.

@@Jg3.3 I’ve seen the fight many times , instant classic . Canelo must have thrown that left hook a dozen times by the time the big one connected. Caleb made him work for it and was boxing beautifully too.
The way Canelo ignored Hopkins at first. Hopkins knew the energy so he had to come up and tell Canelo that whatever it is against de la hoya, it has nothing to do with him. Good stuff Hopkins.

Hopkins is one of the greatest of all time! He beat on my favorite fighter of his generation, Oscar de la Hoya. But in 🇲🇽 Mexico we recognize greatness. The executioner B-Hop!

If Canelo fought the real boxers in this world he wouldn’t be holding any belts, Canelo is a very good boxer but there’s a few guy’s that he walks around because he wouldn’t beat them though out his career
@@tranquilator1109 This is the way….Canelo fought the belt holders but they weren’t the very best, fighters know and here about great fighters like Bivol, Mayweather and many other tough fighter that the belt holders don’t want to fight. Just like Roy Jones he beat the heavyweight but he wasn’t the best heavyweight. Manny and many many fighters throughout history did this if you have enough knowledge about boxing. Most people don’t really know boxing. Canelo’s weakness is with real boxers that can punch hard and keep the distance. I’m 72 boxed from and have a fourth degree black belt so I think I know more then the average Joe
