“We’re Falling Behind In Education” | Only 61 Percent Of Kids Pass Key Stage Two Syllabus

Standards in reading, writing, and maths among Year 6 pupils in England have improved, yet they remain below pre-pandemic levels.
Recent Sats results reveal that 61 percent of students reached the expected standards in these subjects, a slight increase from 60 percent last year. However, this is still short of the 65 percent achieved in 2019, the last year Sats were conducted before the Covid-19 lockdowns.
The government expressed concern about the "far too many pupils" not meeting the expected levels. The previous administration aimed for 90 percent of pupils to reach these standards by 2030.

In Primary school they do literacy hour and numeracy hour every day. You're talking nonsense. But then supporting Chelsea is bound to rot the mind.

It could be worse. I have to try and write things at a 7th grade level because most of our high school and university graduates in the USA read at that level per test results. These adults cannot read any cursive writing and just scribble when asked to sign their names. The books they read as adults are at that grade level (though they are sold as adult books) and are full of grammatical and spelling mistakes. These adults cannot spell anything more than basic site words. Furthermore, they cannot perform simple mathematical calculations without using their phone or a computer.

Too much choice. Has been the worst thing as everyone now believes they can do as they like. It's led to a lack of discipline and responsibility.

Rich parents putting their children into state schools will increase the standards and see more children getting higher grades in their SATS.

The concept of a vocation is gone from this country, many of our younger generations are only interetested in work life balance. Plus since teachers were asked to prove what they were doing through testing they got triggered and threw there toys out of the pram. Also they now have 30 in a class, and nearly every class has one assistant and many have more, if they have statemented kids. 50 years ago, in an inner city school, with outside toilets that had no roof, and children from 20 countries ( a catholic school) my class had 42 children, everyone passed their eleven plus and went to grammar school, many of us, the children of very workng class parents went to university, the reason our teachers were dedicated.
