To me, the minor modality makes this interpretation somber; as if someone passed away or some impending doom. “What A Wonderful World” should, by it’s very title, be optimistic and radiant. IJS
It took a few seconds to realize what was going on, but then I was mesmerized. Your singing is always amazing, and your wardrobe and stage presence complete the performance! ❤😊
Very beautiful. Could see this at a jazz club for a viewing of a crooner boss’s funeral or a viewing for anyone’s funeral being held at a jazz club. For that nice bittersweet feeling.
This cover is treated so perfectly and thoughtfully. Enough change to the key to make it an exciting experience, but still keep the things that make the original such a legend. Perfect choice for Robyn's amazing voice. Also, the outfit reminds me of funeral/mourning attire. What does Robyn do with all these outfits? Does she get to keep them part of her wardrobe for ever? :)
I absolutely love this. It has a lovely dark and melancholy feel in juxtaposition to the uplifting lyrics. It reminds me of Argentine Tango where the music and lyrics are often in contrast, but usually the other direction - upbeat music and darker lyrics. A great example is Toda Mi Vida. I am so pleased to be supporting you on Patreon exactly for content like this.
Your somber elegy is quite a twist on this well known song Robyn!! You went there!! I’m glad you had a wonderful group of performers to back you up as well!! The clarinet meshing with the brushes on the drum kit: elegant. Loved it.
Muchas muchas muchas gracias por esta maravillosa interpretación de esta icónica pieza del repertorio jazzístico...Robyn...eres maravillosa...mis más sinceras felicitaciones y respetos para Ti.
It doesn't work for me. Your singing is beautiful, the band is great, but there is too great a dichotomy between the meaning of the words and the emotions of the music. It might work in an ironic way, but I don't get the sense that you intended it ironically. You are amazingly talented, Ms. Anderson.
@@wendyheatherwoodHello Wendy I must agree with you. I love the way Mr Louis Armstrong sang What a Wonderful Word, .. Bless him. Xoxo ❤❤. His Deep amazingly sexy voice. Saying the 😢😢word (sexy) anywhere about this song sure doesn't sound right if you know what I mean!!?. But that woman can sing and wonderfully. Just not this song it's made and ment for Louis Armstrong himself. He is the only person with the Voice deep and meaningfully enuff to sing What a Wonderfull World . Louis Armstrong sings this song with Angelic emotions for such a big man. You can just feel it comes from deep inside his hart to reach out to us all. It's the kind of song that can and should be able to stop every WAR that's ever happened and is happening bless him. I'm not a Bible basher and I don't go to Church. I belive a person's beliefs are there own private business. And should stay inside one's own mind and hart. As religion is a personal belief. Due to how many people take others beliefs the wrong way🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤ Is the very reason why it needs to be kept private. ..going a bit further on due to the nature of the song. It's mostly due to religious beliefs thats why people seam to be able to say and sing words of such beauty as 😅
I'm not sure what happened to the review I did but here goes, I think the words were definitely stretched out to much but hey it's her and the bands dream and flash Leon star and Antony wish you the band and singer and fans of course all the best, ever since top of the pop's ended I've really not been able to work out the leader board or whatever please please someone who cares bring it back or something better I really want to watch the best band's once a week and then see who climbs up the charts and gets to number one, and again make people happy fingers crossed everyone and toes surly the BBC can because they are still charging a hefty fee for a licence.make televisions with out the number one or two channels and it is then free
I don't know 🤔... the orchesta sounds a little disorganized and the depressing style doesn't fit so well with this song, unless it'd be satirical. Anyway, thank you for the video.
That's just one song you can never ever copy the version that Louis Armstrong said this is disgusting and ruined a good song Sorry a beautiful song not even close people sucks
I am loving the vocals for vocal sake. That band is AMAZING! Your licorice stick got some amazing licks in…. But, I’m not digging this cover. No disparagement, no criticism, just something doesn’t sit right in my ears. Thanks for sharing!
Robyn, You have a lovely voice, the band is very talented as well, a mature horn player myself, I appreciate the band, but the instruments were so loud and piercing I couldn't enjoy your voice🤔 If you cut the volume of the band significantly, give them more of a background feel rather than pure singing in one's face and bring you and your vocals out front I think you will be much happier with the final result, please understand I appreciate everyone's talent, I just think the volume Dynamics need to be adjusted so the listener is able to really enjoy this rendition. Best regards, Richard M
