As someone growing up with autism, this show really hit home, and having a crush in the weird girl because she's relatable in being different and thats nice to see where everyone kind of seems the same 😂

I thought I was the only one who remembered this show! I always thought it was underrated. I love the dirty 1970s Schoolhouse Rock aesthetic, the clever writing and the MacInTalk voice of Jones' father is hilarious! I wish this show did better.

Honestly, I couldn't agree more with you when you say this is one of Cartoon Network's best shows because it definitely is in my opinion! I highly enjoyed watching this review, as well as the show itself! Lots of excellent points were laid out in this like it possibly not being as popular because of it's title and the kid being attacked by birds and having nothing to do with the actual plot, just little points like that for example. Definitely seems like a lot of planning and time were put into making this video! It's a nice change to see somebody actually giving this show a chance and doing a deep dive to look for the good in it! Very good review, my man! Keep up the great work! Would love to also maybe see a review from you on another obscure CN classic like Mike, Lu & Og or Time Squad!! Also P.S. : I never even thought about how Mr. McMcMc's name could be a reference to Mc to the power of 3. You've got a good eye for detail! I don't think I ever heard anyone say that before so you're definitely the first and that's a very clever point that I think will open up people's minds now and make them really think about that hidden, little gem!

An underrated gem from my childhood. I always loved this show, it felt super unique back then and looking back on it now, I think it still is, even with so many other robot-based shows existing. The art style, Shannon's design, the way the show combines human and robot problems for Robot to face... I found myself realizing it's also got a pretty realistic depiction of the public school experience for the Weird Kids. As a Weird Kid myself, I always related really hard to Robot Jones, and as an adult I now know it was my then-undiagnosed autism. Teachers consistently misunderstand Robot and his unique needs, except for Mr. Mitchel who manages to help in that one episode thanks to his relevant expertise. I know I'm reading way too hard into this funny little old cartoon, but I think it says a lot about it that it's still so relatable after all this time--and I know it's relatable to pretty much everyone regardless of any conditions because being a teenager, and being an American middle-schooler, are just bizarre experiences for us all.

Jokes on you! Robot Jones was my first crush and I remember him very very well 💝 I watched it a lot in first grade, I actually had PU to PE/Vaccum friend recorded on a VHS for a while. Ironic since the PE episode terrified me as a kid lol. It lingered in the back of my mind for years but in middle school my interest in it reactivated. I had a printed screenshot of him in a heart shaped frame next to my bed lol. Middle schoolers are a different species. For a long time the show was actually lost media, the entire thing not having been archived properly. It’s only pretty recent that the show has been properly backed up, uploaded and archived. Great video, it’s always nice to see one of my favorite cartoons getting some appreciation. Thankfully nowadays the show has a small but very dedicated fanbase, so it’s not as forgotten as it used to be.

I think Robot Jones would fare much better nowadays with 80's nostalgia being all the rage. Also, it was MUCH harder to break through on CN in the early 2000s. You were competing with Ed Edd n Eddy, Johnny Bravo, Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Lab, Courage and the list goes on and on.

This show still runs on the South American channel Tooncast to this very day. Hopefully the show earns some love in there.

I've only seen the pilot episode and I thought it was hilarious and quite unique. For all the reasons you mentioned. My son was little at that time and I remember that there were a LOT of great new cartoon series then. Competition was stiff, to say the least. I think Robot Jones may have been TOO good to succeed. That happens from time to time.

This was one of my favorite shows when it was on. I played the heck out of the Follow That Brain web game, and I just so happened to recognize the Junior voice because it was an option in a Talking Number Maze game on my school computers.

I Enjoyed Watching This Series In 2023 Even Though I Heard of This Series Since The Early 2010's. I Haven't Had An Interest In It Until May 2023. This Cartoon ALWAYS Reminded Me of Schoolhouse Rock Because of The Art Style Looking Very Similar To Schoolhouse Rock.

Robot Jones was a show I liked when it first came on. Unfortunately, the voice change for him kind of threw me off, like I know now it was because there was some kind of lawsuit with the voice to text function, but it just seemed more iconic without having addressed the issue, like "Oh, it makes him sound more human than it did before, so he'll blend into society more." Also, I remember the ending being so dirty to him, but other than that, it was a pretty good show, and I was glad to see him in that one episode of O.K. KO, since they still cared about him there.

I remember watching the Rubix Cube episode sometime in 2005, apparently the show was still being reran at that point. I'm also surprised there's nothing citing that maybe the show got cancelled because the Principal is basically Hitler. More shows should take the Shannon approach instead of having generic popular girl who's out of the main character's league.

Robot Jones was one of my all time favorites growing up. Main episode I could catch as a kid was the Rubix Cube one since that always got reruns when I could watch, but got lucky with the rest over time.

Robot Jones is certainly a little gem from CN that has a strong art style and characters. Another underrated show on the same network with teenage robots that definitely needs more attention is Robotomy. Robotomy has a very strong influence from the movie Superbad from it’s humor and structure. It also shares some traits with the Adult Swim show Superjail! like how both shows have similar art styles and how they tend to crank up the violence.

I do not think I have seen anything about Robot Jones before. Thanks for making this video to inform people about the show because I enjoy finding out about old media and similar stuff. This video does a good job of showing what the show is about.

Apparently this show was originally conceived under the premise of basically "The Terminator" meets "The Wonder Years". Oddly fitting, considering what Greg Miller had planned for the ending.

_Whatever Happened to Robot Jones_ is elaborate enough with its story, showing they are a series of misadventures the kids understand with adult humor in mind, and is very self-explanatory--whatever happens to Robot Jones usually happens; it's an irony joke. For the show heavily influencing its set. this wouldn't be unprecedent for David Stern and Greg Miller to collect inspiration from other mediums and parody those within this show to reflect this era. One such case might be in the title of which could be parodying the BBC's "Whatever Happened To the Likely Lads" a sequel show to the discontinued _Likely Lads_ series, which reunites its titular pair of rather friends that step into innocent mischief. In synopsis, the parallels between this show's characters and Robot Jones couldn't more clear with Jones working to coexist with humans and be like them. Additionally, to fully understand the cancellation of Whatever Happened to Robot Jones, it has more to do with its airing rather than animation style and popularity. Evidently Sheep in the Big City and Cow and Chicken has designs roughly similar to Robot's but were popular overall--had Robot Jones aired earlier along with them then probably his show might have fell on good terms, it's pilot shot off around the time Spongebob, Ed Edd n' Eddy, The Powerpuff Girls, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Jackie Chan, and Grim Adventures airing, coupled with the two-year hiatus given by network executives, gave the former leeway in placing their marks on television. Moreover was its sensation further sabotaged by competing against these soon to be titans. But then to--later in 2002--compete against the likes of Kim Possible, The Proud Family, Teen Titans, The Weekenders, Time Squad, and Codename: Kids Next Door, any attempt for this nuance of '70s and '80s memorabilia couldn't built under pretense. Perhaps, if Greg Miller pitched his show earlier in the '90s, this show might have stood a chance against its counterparts. Cause I know enjoyed it...would've been nice to hear more of Rip Taylor as McMcMc.

I loved the season one voice of robot and his parents, could not stand the second season voice and they went back a redubbed season one in it for reruns (likely there was litigation with MS) but that killed the show for me.

I remember liking and listening in while I played my Pokemon Silver run

This show, along with Time Squad, Cyber Chase, Megas XLR, Grim and Evil, and Pokemon are among some of my earliest memories as far as entertainment goes. I remember liking all 5 quite a bit and dropping everything I was doing to catch episodes whenever they'd flash. Tbfh, I don't think the show's failure had anything to do with itself and more the incompetency at those who marketed it. As a kid I *always* knew when Dexter and SpongeBob would be on, but Robot was always of a "maybe, maybe not" type deal. It was a show I *wanted* to watch but never could because of how they hardly advertised or even promoted it. Looking at the other shows my sister and I loved back then but inexplicably found off the air mere months later, all share the common thread of being unfavorites among the network brass. Time Squad hardly ever showed in promos, Robot would air late, while Megas would always air far too early for the majority of people to catch. It really just reads as the executives trying to tank these shows because they didn't dig them.

Oh man I remember watching this show a lot (especially the pilot) and I think the main thing that turned me off from the show near the end was the replacement of the text-to-speech voice with an actual voice actor. I think that that voice actor did fine, but there was still charm in that robotic voice for a character. Also I think if something’s gonna end, it should go out on a high note, which this short-lived show did. It shouldn’t overstay its welcome like SpongeBob after the first movie in my opinion. Overall, an entertaining and thoughtful analysis on a truly underrated show.

Actually the original voice of robot jones wasn't windows text to speech. It was actually Apple Macintosh's Macintalk text to speech program. Other than that flub, great review

It doesn't matter how good other shows can be. Regular Show may have the best potential, Ben 10 may have the best epicness and Marvel What if... may have the best animation. But for me, Ed, Edd n' Eddy will always be my all time favourite show. And i wish it could come back one dsy so season 6 can be completed or Peach Creek was an official sequel.
