@IrishRaiderLarryMullinsJr.BonoEdge - The Bears had a lot of interest from teams but decided not to trade Justin Fields until they have a final decision made regarding Caleb Williams. There is still a very good chance the Bears keep Fields and also a good chance the Bears trade Fields to New England, Seattle, or Denver. New England can trade a 2nd round pick for him and then draft Harrison Jr. at #3. Denver can offer a 3rd and 5th round pick. Not sure if Seattle would be interested or what they would give. Possibly a 2nd round pick. Seattle would probably see Justin Fields as the future and exercise Fields' 5th year option for $25.5 million.
What this tells me is all the Fields lovers were using their hearts, not their heads. You are really saying there is little demand for his services at the price he comes with.
You’re wrong, the Field's lover have no control were he’s going. Poles and coaches are not shopping him right now. The mainstream media could only speculate.
Who are you to know the price? Nobody knows the demanded trade package. All we do know is Franchise Tag + new contract, If you want him. Thats a lot allready without the picks
Maybe because the realized that he is potentially the best running QB in History. After all he probably would have broken Lamar Jackson record, if he played the the last game.
Oh,please!! Use your brain for once. The media and powers that be couldn't allow Justin to be drafted before Sunshine. If you recall, Justin and Trevor were neck and neck until Justin demolished him in the playoff game. They couldn't allow this black QB to possibly overtake a white QB they'd labeled the second coming of God! They started spreading lies, rumors and even his health issues with seizures. Mac Jones had 2 dui's in college. Did you hear anyone bring that up? Not even once.
@@wexwuthor1776 More the reason for teams to pick up old veterans over Fields "athleticism". Bo Jackson was one of the the best "athlete" ever but would he had made a good quarterback? Fields natural talent is running back, his mistake is choosing to be a quarterback. His mental processing is not there to read defenses and adjust.
The fact just about every team has now filled their backup QB positions with journeymen tells you pretty clearly that other teams view Fields as no better than a backup. Even friggin Gardner Minschew how 12 million a year.
No one wants to give up draft capital for him. If he was a FA he might get picked over some of these guys (like Darnold), but I think Minchew is legit a better QB.
I don't think he's going anywhere. And if he becomes on the market, it wont be until they fall in love with a QB and have medicals. Until then it's all click bait. THE END!!
I haven’t heard this anywhere… I would run after him if I were the Jets. Let him learn from Aaron for a year or 2 and be there in case he is injured again. Another great fit I see is If I’m Washington I give up a 3rd and 5th for fields and draft Harrison Jr.
@@jasonbailey5454 As a middle class working man, I often feel empathy for those that should have achieved so much more who had so much potential but was stunted by bad chance.
Forgetting the fact that a team in the top 3 would get a boatload of draft capital to trade out of that spot, if they wanted to trade a 3rd? for Fields. If you have one inkling of a doubt that the rookie you draft there is a no-doubt franchise QB, it's not a bad idea to bring in Fields and trade that pick for a very large pick haul.
There's doubt with any of the rooks taken in the top 3. However, there's no doubt fields is a bad nfl qb. So in this case, the unknown is far better than the known. There's 3 years of tape on fields, he sucks. I been saying this for a year now, turns out the entire league agrees with me. As a bears fan, I hope we just cut him and be done with it
@@jasonbailey5454 He has a 60% comp rate and a 4/3 TD/INT ratio and 33/20 the last 2 years. That's not great but 'sucks' is only a Bears fans personal perspective that feels burned. And he just turned 25 a week ago. As a Jets fan I saw what happened when we didn't trade out and took Zach Wilson, instead of turning that #2 pick into three #1's and more (SF sent three 1's and a 3rd to move up to #3 to take Lance). Miami stuck with an oft injured and inconsistent Tua and built the team around him, and it turned out alright so far. Not saying I'd trade out, but without knowing the inside scoop on these kids coming in, from our chair I wouldn't knock a team for doing it.
@@MoMoMyPup10which is exactly what the bears did last year, or are u forgetting that?? At some point it's time to pick a qb and start trying to win. Are u also forgetting that 3 time league mvp aaron rodgers is the jets qb?? You're proving my point for me without even realizing it
@@jasonbailey5454 you just proved mine actually. Even if Fields fails there's always the opportunity to trade for a Rodgers, or sign a Cousins, or Brady, or Manning, or Stafford. But they won't come there if the team sucks. And there's _still_ a chance that Fields works out. How much better would the Jets have been if they had not taken Zach and took the haul that SF gave Miami instead? Instead they let that haul go to a hated division rival. If you take the QB, you better be right.
The fact that the league has not shown much interest in Fields and teams that really needed a QB and aren't in a position to draft one haven't traded for him shows his value. He is not considered worth trading a high pick for and dealing with his pending fifth year option. The Bears will have to keep him, or take a late round pick for him. It's doubtful they will get lucky and have a team give them a decent pick. It would have been great to get a 2nd or even a third round pick, but it's looking more an more like a 5th or 6th.
Sorry, no chance the Bears trade him for that, lol! Hey I have an idea, maybe they will trade him for 4 7th round picks and future practice squad players to be named. I'd put the chances of each at about the same, 0 %.
@@russjen5012 that's about all they'll get at this point. A 4th that would become a 3rd, and a Day 3 pick the following year. Someone _might've_ given up a 3rd or 2nd if he was traded weeks ago, but not now.
@@MoMoMyPup10 Poles isn't giving him away, sorry. He would keep him before he gives him away for that. You are acting like Poles is stupid which he isn't nor is he desperate. So, no he will never trade him for that kind of evaluation.
Albert Breer has me convinced - The Eagles should get him, and let him compete with Jalen Hurts for the starting role. Hurts had a mediocre year at best after signing a record breaking money deal, and Fields would perform way better with the Eagles offense than he did last year with the Bears.
@@Tpplatt3 people pretend like the bears didn't go from literally the worst team in 2022 to almost making the playoffs in 2023, and they probably would have if the defense didn't blow 2 huge leads in the 4th quarter.
@@athras8822 That was because of vast improvements in defense. Fields stats was still pathetic with little improvement from already bad stats. 4th quarter stats were worst.
@@joeiborowski9763until the final 8 games of this past season, the bears defense in Fields tenure gave up an average of 33 points per game. He would be above .500 if he had a defense that have up
The thing that I have not liked about all of this is reporters acting like it’s impossible Fields comes back. And they literally have no more information than the public. But it’s just their egos and them wanting to look like the person that is right. And it’s disappointing to see Rich being one of them with the “that’s not happening”
Have you ever thought that maybe it’s your own ego that can’t accept that the Bears do indeed want to move on from Fields. And that no one I the league really wants him
@@mick2spic I mean in all honesty the Bears aren’t spending big in free agency. Why? Because they want to save that for next season when Justin Fields contract is up. Why did they get Shane Waldron? He reformed Geno Smith and can potentially reform Justin Fields. If we were to trade wouldn’t we have already traded him by now? Deandre Swift was a teammate of Justin Fields at Georgia and would make sense for Justin Fields to have Swift as an option. Tbh I don’t think it’s entirely impossible for the bears to keep fields man just by the looks of it. And the bears aren’t really good at developing Qbs so why would they draft another one?
@@5strings763 Why would they draft another one? Because this time it’s for possibly a generational talent. They lost out on that last year with Stroud, they won’t risk missing again. Poles will never live it down if he let another great QB slip through their fingers. And why haven’t they traded Fields yet? Simple, teams desire others to be their starter. Maybe goes to the Raiders to compete with Minshew, maybe someone else’s backup. Hard to see where he goes. Bears probably only get a 5th or 6th rounder for him
I have followed this situation every day since last October. Watched 1,000 videos and sports shows. I'm a lifelong Bears fan and watched the 1963 title game on a B&W TV with my dad. Yeah, I'm that old. 🙂 The answer to the question, "Where's He Going???" is simple. Nowhere. The Bears value for Justin is as the starter in 2024, with the 1st round pick as a backup ala the Green Bay/Kansas City model. Even if I'm wrong, no trade of Fields is going to take place until after the Bears meet in house with the top QB's. The Bears are simply not 100% convinced at this point on the makeup of these guys. I'm not at all suprised that Fields hasn't been moved yet. He is their starting QB until Ryan Poles is convinced otherwise. It's possible their rookie QB of choice displaces Fields during 2024 but I think the decision on Fields will be a next offseason decision.
@@maxk4322 True enough. Seems a bit surreal for me, but the Bears #1 draft priority switched from building out the team through the draft to going all-in on a first year rookie QB. Not my preference. Gonna be a wild ride in Chicago if the rook doesn't win. Go Bears!
Fields would be an absolutely brutal fit in a nuanced passing offense like what McVay runs Fields has a very specific (limited) skill set, you have to run a very certain watered down version of an offense for him to operate it and as the Bears have been finding out, that's not gonna lead to much success
I agree but Seattle won't be giving up all kinds of picks for Fields at all. They're in a better draft position to add pieces now without losing much. Bears are going to have to discount Fields in order to offload him.
This is a prime example of how bad the Bears organization is. They’re waiting until after Williams pro day and visit to Chicago on March 20, if all goes well then they will send fields off and by that time it won’t be for much.
Wait a minute - why not Baltimore? OK, he won't start, but is there anyone else who would be a better "Lamar Jackson Lite" than Fields? Wouldn't have to change schemes or game plan if he is needed in a pinch.
As a Bears fan I knew this was going to happen🙄 Just have to wait till a starting QB goes down with a season ending injury or add Fields to the WR depth chart.
I don't think keeping him on the roster is an option. It would be one disaster of a circus if they did. You're right tho, justin better be practicing his route running while on vacation, he's not gonna be playing qb in this league much longer lol
The other question that seems no one is asking is where is Sam Howell going to end up.. he’s young on a rookie deal with a couple years left. He wasn’t completely incompetent as a starter. Had a lot of picks but that’s part of the learning curve for a young QB.. put him with a good QB coach and I think he’s a solid player with great upside… What are your thoughts?
What if the bears are playing poker and trying to get the trade for #1 and build the team with Fields for the next year or 2. Is that really off the table??
The hysterical media have decided long ago that Poles was drafting CW. Why CW and not Maye, or Daniels, or whomever? No idea, of course. But keeping Fields has never been off the table for Poles. Actually, it is his most obvious option.
@@tombyrne9003 Delusional Justin fans think he’s somehow elite and the coaching staff/ his teammates let him down. Now they’ve convinced themselves that the Bears really don’t want to trade him and are planning to trade the #1 and build around them. Lol In the real world no one , including the Bears, sees him as a starting NFL quarterback
Remember when Derek Carr cried on TV over what was being done to him in LV? & that it ended up being nothing but their HC hating him? Well Fields had a moment like that. About week 8 in '22 he looked at the camera & said he did Not Know what his coaches expected of him. This was a few weeks after he first suddenly stared at an open receiver & didn't pass to them. For a moment everyone feared he'd been concussed. Then the team didn't take him to the blue tent, even after the drive. Then when he did it again we all knew what was going on, only I refuse to lie to myself about it. There was no need to take him to the blue tent for protocol because it didn't apply. He wasn't staring because he was concussed, he was staring because he had to read the player's #: he'd been ordered to not throw to certain receivers on certain plays. You all remember this. You all even invented a meme to account for it, that the Bears were simplifying the offense so Fields could handle it. Poles hired Eberflus because they agreed on Poles' Highest Priority: to build "their" team. This meant replacing all the locker-room leaders & players in key positions. Then they realized that Fields might not go along with this so they had to prevent him playing well since if he did, they wouldn't be able to justify moving on from him. They may not be able to trade him, but that doesn't mean they're not going to get Williams. Besides, that on camera moment was Fields' plea for help after he realized he'd made a mistake. He was going along with not throwing to those receivers because he thought it would put him in the good books of his coaches. Only later did he realize they were sabotaging him.
I'm surprised there isn't at least one team looking to stockpile QBs. The #1 overall pick usually pans out, and all other QB picks are 10% chance of being good. I'd sign two QBs and draft 2 more. There is an old saying, "If you have two quarterbacks then you don't have any QBs." But most teams aren't going to have an elite QB anyway. Might as well maximize your chances of getting the next Baker Mayfield or Brock Purdy.
He should stay in Chicago. To me, the bears were starting to click at the end of the season. I predict they'll be competing for the division and a good dark horse bet to win it.
Minnesota just lost Cousins. They might draft somebody, but if they get to draft night and miss the boat, could Fields be a reasonable consolation prize?
I've seen fields and williams play in college fields was the better player and probably will be better than williams in the nfl so why trade fields if ur gonna draft williams he can sit a few years and watch maybe he'll get better
OR Bears never planned to trade him and are sitting grinding their hands watching the value of Williams go up so they can trade the #1 pick for a haul.
It’s unfortunate as he’s a better QB than some of these other names mentioned for starters. He’s almost not good enough to get a big starter signing but too good to get a 1 year starter deal either.. or the Bears seem the think so.
If JF1 was worth it for teams, they would have snatched him up, he’s a young exciting player and still cheap for one more year. The DOWNSIDE is his passing game and how he plays in the fourth quarter. If he had a great passing game, defenses would be so scared of him. He’s currently a one trick pony, and defenses will force him to pass when Bears are behind. That’s why his fourth quarter QB rating is bad.
Poles literally has not made a decision the media is putting speculation out there. They are waiting for the final pieces of information from CW he did not meet with the team because he did not want to travel more than necessary and would not release his medical records.
Justin will be either be starting for the bears or redshirting at the rams or seahawks next season. I was hoping for the Falcons but hearing they haven’t even made Fields available or actively been shopping him is eye popping. It seems Fields might just not be leaving
This is the media coping with the idea that they've been wrong the entire time. 😂 "The Bears have to draft Caleb. Everyone says he's the best prospect since....Trevor Lawrence". 😂
What I want to know is why nobody talks about the fact that the Bears have had 2 GMs, 2 HCs, and now 3 OCs since JF was drafted? People expect him to magically develop as a QB with zero stability in the staff or personnel. Only thing the Bears have done significantly on offense is add DJ Moore. One guy isn't enough help. Let's be real, Fields isn't Poles guy. They had no intentions of building around him.
As a bronco fan I wouldn't mind Fields under Payton. I still think we draft somebody... and have a QB comp. I know Payton has a thing for McCarthy but idk if we'll be able to get him, though. I do like fields going to Pittsburgh and sitting behind Russ for a year or so. Could do him some good. Build his confidence up. I trust Pitt to handle Russ better than we did and who knows whats going to happen there.
The Bears asking price is too high. They want a 1st round pick. Fields is NOT a starting qb any longer. It's ok to say that. There's nothing racist about speaking the truth.
What I've seen of bears games. I can't tell if Fields is bad or the whole team is bad or both from an outside point of view. Not sure a new QB is gonna fair much better.
I could see the Patriots trading for him. If they don't like the QB available at their spot, he could start and draft Harrison Jr. If they do draft a QB, let Fields start until their guy is ready. That said, I don't see many teams offering any better than a 3rd round pick at this point.
Justin Fields is massively overrated by some fans. But, he's just not that good. In 2023, he had a career-high in passing yards- with just 2,562. His rushing yards barely push him over 3,000 total yards. And the more he runs, the more he gets injured.
Justin Fields has been massively mistreated by the Bears organization the same way Mr. Mara said about the Giants doing everything possible to screw up Daniel Jones.
Jameis Winston went 5-2 before an injury and still chased Sean Payton into retirement. After dealing with Mr. Unlimited, Payton is not wasting his time with a proven failure.
@@terrydizzydude4087 the more I'm looking and hearing absolutely NOTHING about Fields the more I'm inclined to agree that he has a better shot of being offloaded as a backup QB and the Bears will have to eat a loss at not getting anything for him.
This is crazy because the market and media legitimately determined Justin Fields future with the Bears the no interest pretty much forced the Bears to have to take the quarterback Caleb Williams with the first pick i’m kind of shocked now because a few weeks ago the story was what are the Bears gonna do now it’s kind of a no brainer i don’t think your going to see too many bears fans saying not to draft Caleb Williams anymore also the Bears was looking for second or third round pick or some sort of little package now i don’t know what is value is with the quarterback market being pretty much full, everyone got there quarterback 🤷🏻♂️
Serious question: is Caleb ready to start day one year one? And if not, what do the Bears do if they draft him? Are the Bears actually ready to develop a new quarterback ??
people blame the Bears for Fields lack of development, but i don't understand what people expect when the quarterback literally complains to the media that his struggles are his coaches fault because they give him "too much information" (aka - being coached to play in the NFL) and it's "too confusing" for him on the field...... like that isn't a "Chicago can't develop QB's" problem, that's literally just a "Justin Fields just isn't a good NFL QB" problem lol
@@mattcarberry368 hey I understand what you’re saying and respect your opinion but I disagree with your take on what Justin said. We don’t know what Luke Getsy was like in his ear with Gametime playcalling and Getsy was fired. Don’t get me wrong, Justin has a lot to prove. But if you look at the real analytics, the Bears offensive line was pretty bad at protection and the receiving core had one star WR and one good tight end. Look at the real deep numbers. Anyway, the Bears are not that good and they’re still in the middle of a rebuild.
I seriously would love to hear what people think the Bears look like day one with Caleb starting. Caleb Williams ready to start from day one? Serious question looking for opinions.
I’m convinced he goes to seattle for a 4th. New coaching staff, restructured Genos contract to get out early so let’s just throw a dart on a younger guy and see what we get we don’t plan on tanking and if we miss this year he could be the best option.
Every bears fan I know wants Fields gone he’s an average thrower is injury prone bears fans don’t want him why are yall surprised by nobody wanting him
How about the European Football League. Justin can play for one of the German teams as qb. He can make like $80,000 a year which is about $69,000 more than he’s worth.
Fields will go somewhere to be a backup. So that trade might not happen until after the draft. At this point the Bears have to take pretty much any offer.
Why? Wouldn't you just have him become the backup? Better than Peteman for 2 million. If it is because it is unfair, then Caleb would never survive Chicago media or pressure and should not be drafted by Chicago.
Why is everybody talking about Justin Fields being traded??? Justin will stay in Chicago, that was the plan from the very beginning. Justin is waaaaay better that any of these quarterbacks that signed yesterday. All he needs is support around him.
I dont understand why the Raiders signing Gardner Minshew or the Vikings signing Sam Darnold doesnt mean they couldnt still trade for Fields if they can get him for a 4th or 5th rd pick.
Because the Bears are not going to trade Fields to a division opponent and the Raiders do not want to pick up Fields' fifth-year option. The Raiders prefer to sign a cheap bridge-year quarterback like Minshew and possibly draft a developmental quarterback like Bo Nix to be the long-term solution at quarterback.
RE is looking at places he could be a competent back up, and very good insurance against injury. Why can't the Bears use him that way? He is not expensive, despite what you have heard.
Dudes won 9 games in 3 years 3 games less than Zack Wilson remember that.🤣🤣🤣 nobody is risking any capital for him. There’s a reason why their gettting rid of him lol
He’s had no help. And any team that can hone in this talent will get a jalen hurts type of player. Also hurts has had smith goefert aj brown and the best O line since he’s been in the league
Stop listening to Colin cowherd and watch tape look at the situation and make a decision on what you think. This is word for word Colin cowherd right here 😂😂😂
You mean the first year where Andy Dalton started 8 games, or year 2 that was a complete rebuild/tank with the bears trading all their top players and hadlving the worst defense in the league while throwing to Darnell Mooney as WR1 💀? Or last year where after getting injured he took the worst team in the league to barely missing the playoffs ? He’s barely been given a shot so far. He’s played under 3 offensive coordinators and 2 head coaches.
