Love this gem of a talk. "If ye love me keep my commandments", I sure hope I can love my life with a strong moral compass that helps me to love, serve, and be righteous. 😁
BYU Speeches- Thank you very much for posting this talk. I hadn’t heard it before. Elder Holland was utterly right on every level, and the intervening time has truly borne his ideas and inspirations out, and profoundly. Let’s hope, pray, and work together to do what we can to bring education and society back to its’ divinely-centred moral values system.
36:20 Karl G Maeser: 1. To love God is the beginning of all wisdom. 2. This life is one great homework assignment in the principles of immortality and eternal life. 3. Man grows only with his higher goals. 4. Never, ever let anything impure enter here.
And now as I listen in 2022, how this hits another lower note. We have, politically incorrectly, descended into baseness, foul language abounds EVERYWHERE, IN EVERY CONVERSATION and sleeze in most songs! BUT, BYU is one beacon of truth and brightness. Still! I have sadly not made the best of my BYU education, but my times at BYU were miraculous and I am constantly aware of that. BYU saved and continues to save my life! Thank you, BYU! I so love your peace and truth.
