When you can't even make it in life than how are you suppose to get marry. Why would you want to have kids when life is full of misery under this government
Nah. Can't relate as a German. Private schools? Piano lessons? We don't have such a high pressure for our children to perform, and learn instruments. There is so much social welfare here, people don't have to work overtime. I am sure the average life in Germany is much easier, more fun, more fulfilling, and easier than the one in China, or the US, but I don't know much about other countries. I used to live in Japan. I feel like the Japanese are too serious about life. They usually have it really nice but think things are shit, and Japan is doomed, even when their life is going well. I think being stuck in Tokyo with so much concrete, and too many people affect mental health.
I sent my children to a private school sent them on trips overseas and around the country for sport competitions, I was there every day after school to pick them up. Worked on Saturdays to earn the extra money and I can not force them into achievements. Never pushed them just praised them. One, after multiple Universities and jobs, stops and starts is finally sticking to one, god only knows for how long. The other is upset about everyone and everything and blames me for his problems and wants to save the world but only if he can do it sitting in his room and he doesn’t have to lift a finger about it, Depression and anger. I have come to the conclusion that even if you give them the best start. You can not expect anything. It’s their life, you just have to be there to pick up the pieces. My parents gave me nothing and I expected nothing from them. I work, have fun and be there for those that deserve it. I don’t think I will ever retire as I want to do too much to waste my life with getting old. I will never want to be a burden on anyone so. Relax. Do what you want. Don’t rely on anyone but your skills. Be the best you can be. Then die. No problem.

This is not only a China problem, it is happening in every East Asian society. Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, and Hong Kong. It just seems to be a natural progression in East Asian society when it’s population becomes more educated and more urbanized. It’s just that places like China and Thailand will become old before they become rich which will cause a lot of social problems.
It's happening in all major developed countries to some extent. The story is largely the same everywhere. - The population has urbanized and left the farm, so childbirth is now an expense and not an asset - Both parents are now expected (and usually required) to work, so the mother is never home to be a parent as it was with past generations - The quality of public schooling is generally bad, which forces the parents to have to spend money on expensive private schools if they want their child to succeed. College is also a crippling expense. A child who does not go to college will generally fail in life, because most employers refuse to hire without a college degree. - the feminist movement has made it much harder for men to get married. There are a substantial number of unmarriageable men in all major developed countries now. - no-fault divorce means something like half of all marriages don't last - generous welfare schemes reduce the need for family formation since the government will take care of you when you are old (at least in theory) Some of these problems are unsolvable in our current economic configuration, but many of them could be mitigated. Governments show little interest in doing so however, and instead try things like mild financial incentives or tax breaks which have little impact.
@@CaptainOverkill "- the feminist movement has made it much harder for men to get married. There are a substantial number of unmarriageable men in all major developed countries now." Oh it's not just east asia; this is a global issue. Millennials and Gen Z around the world arent having kids for essentially those same reasons that man ranted about and more. The Birthrate in developed countries everywhere has been plummeting. And it goes beyond just having children; around the world in developed countries, people are not only having less children or getting married less, people are literally refusing to even get into relationships and even have sex. The number of people in their 30's who are virgins is actually staggering in some countries. Its surprising considering how people front for the cameras on social media, even though we already know people lie extensively about their lives on social media to make their lives appear happier than it is. Relationships cost a lot of time, commitment, money, mental and emotional fortitude, and maintenance. Things people dont have in abundance when they're struggling just to make sure they can pay rent and have food. And for many places, even a two-person income isnt enough because gainful employment is a dream. The degree of bitter and jaded emotions make it another challenge when people even have the opportunity to connect. It's tragic how the world got here. People are in survival mode.
@@bloodydove5718 You've said a misleading truth there. The large amount of people who are virgins in their 30's are virtually all men. The old woman asking Is there true love in this world? Knows exactly what she is asking. Not only in China but our entire society relationships is based on material possessions.
@newnewmee44 it is arguably much worse now than a few decades ago. A good chunk of the last generations is sexless and friendless and have all their psychological needs satisfied by a computer. Some may say these are involuntary celibates, but the problem is more complex than that, relationships nowadays are hard, and the requirements from women are so high that less than 10% of the male population would pass their test. The best approach is to live alone and try to get better.
not just now and not just humans, all animals, for hundreds of millions of years. If there aren't resources (food, water, protection) there can't be reproduction. The problem is that billionaires are hogging most of the wealth in the world leaving billions of people with barely enough resources to survive.
truth is always the best ear medicine but I wonder to chinese women are as hypergamy as wanting a top 10% asian males in CCP China plus why have a family in a authoritian style government .
The man's long rant can be summed up like this: You produce a baby was it worth it after all this time he used up all your resources to be just as competitive as other kids and families Was it worth it to spend all that hard earned money on your baby into adult hood just to suffer life and go back at the starting line?
I think the latter part of his rant showed even more of his pessimistic view. Living in China is working as a slave, he has no way out and is worried his son would face the same issues.
People won't have kids when they are unemployed, don't see a future for themselves, and have barely enough for their own survival. To expect people in dire straits to have children is wanton thinking. I believe that more people would have children if only they have the means because it is ingrained in Chinese mentality to have children to carry on family line.
Not any more. Decades of only one child has changed them. Not only raised as only children. They never saw a family with two children, let alone 5 or 8.
It's Rough for every developed or half-developed country to have a kid where both parents are working while economy adjust to 2 working parents wages But this problem in China got Multiplied due to how several generations of one child policy where parents normally spend EVERYTHING on just 1 child, now government are encouraging (and soon forcing) for everyone to have more children
Kids aren't gonna be born tho, people just don't wanna have kids rn. But I won't give it past the government to forcibly impregnate women, given their track record. When my mum was pregnant with my sister in 2003 they wanted to abort in the 3rd trimester! A decade on and they're begging people to have kids! Good on the citizens for living how they want, and not listening to the scheming of the government
That’s why the problem won’t be solved without an actual collapse. The elephant in the room is basically unspeakable. When both genders began to work, the wages adjusted to that level of supply.
It's like Chinese Government is learning now that they shouldn't interfere with demographics and economics of the country let them stabilize for what they are which many countries learnt 8-9 decades ago. But China with its tyrannical rule is getting a sense of what their previous bad decisions have led to such harmful outcomes like declining population, aging population, other countries eating away at its production market and foreign investors fleeing away from the country.

Continued bad governance over so many years has now utterly broken the society...even if you tell them to organize themselves you have to give space and freedom...there is not such thing in China. Goverment wants to literally get into your homes and force you to mate and produce babies and if possible, they would even grab people to do it. Nothing is too immoral for them...its just forced mating...they've killed tons of babies with their own hands. I guess now its their turn to atone for that mess. They have developed such a bad karma that is going to drag them all to hell. Not just the goverment but people also who stayed silent as they committed such horrid crimes.
I would say we should follow this. India absolutely doesn't need 1.4 billion people. We aren't just populated, we are grossly overpopulated. India will do wonders with 1/6 of the current population. India can solve 90% of all its problems if we start shedding our population growth.
@@plop_plop_plop "let people do their thing at their own pace , show path/target and interfere only when necessary , never force a rigid system , let lt happen naturally"
Hot damn, that dude's rant about family planning and raising a child really resonated with me. The level of accuracy and realism in those words reflect the sentiments of far too many millennials and gen z around the world. With what having children entails, it just isnt practical for a significant amount of people who are at the healthiest and traditional age bracket for it. Something many adults who criticize younger people for not having children dont understand... Is that choosing to have children really is a selfish thing. You have to consider the quality of life you can/will provide that new human. If you cannot provide even a decent life for that individual(s), you're making someone so they can suffer, for what ever personal reason(s) You have. And if someone's life is already stressful, time consuming, financially backbreaking, etc. Why would they want to compound their challenges by creating someone who consumes more of those resources? So they can have company with that suffering?
There is nothing inherently selfish about having children, just like there is nothing inherently selfish about not having children, it’s just a matter of circumstance. You are either in a circumstance to have kids or you are not, pretending like you’re not having kids for morally superior reasons is a massive cope because if you truly care about the world and you think your beliefs are just, then you would take on the responsibility of raising children with your values, otherwise you leave the future to those who are raised by the ones you claim to be “selfish.”
Yeah in Asian culture the main reason for having kids is basically: So someone will take care of you when you are old. Pretty selfish right, they basically want a dedicated personal servant.
I'm from the Philippines and I've seen this starting 20 years ago. Even our neighbors averaging 40 years of age, have no or only one child. The system is already broken.
I am Filipino as well so I think I can say this. What I have noticed is that in our country, the poor has so many children. Lower middle class to above has few or no children at all. This is still not right and it is not the same with what is happening to developed countries.
This happens in all countries to some degree. In Brazil, for example, as people climb up the social ladder they realise the burden children represent in their life. Most Brazilians SURVIVE on less than $200 a month, that's not enough to raise a child, let alone provide them with a good education.
6:13 Wow! That five minute, 20 second diatribe on the cons of having/raising children was INTENSE! Unfortunately, far too much of it was keenly accurate, especially so in China with its '996' work policy and minimal social 'safety net'
his tirade was true for anybody around the world. the rich get richer, the poor can't even afford to have children unless you're fine with birthing your children into a hard life
Well if everyone doesn't have that many children, the cost of housing will go down. The Chinese could set up 5G internet and work from Africa or Southeast Asia where the cost of living hasn't increased like in China. I have heard you can get ”Jewish doctor DNA“ or other genius DNA but its not talked about much.
What do you think they'll do if more people got married, had 3 kids and then due to circumstances beyond their own control, lost their home because of a mortgage default because of no work? The kids may not survive because it doesn't take a genius to workout what the kids could be used for.
chinese government made their problem by not adapting to challenges that are happening. should anyone feel sorry that they are having to deal with this? NO.
I just seems like pure greed to me, she is demanding a tall, rich man so she stay at home and not work. She is not bad looking but that will not last it is a terrible deal for the man. What does she contribute exactly? Escorts are cheap by comparison and they stay young forever.
@@ericconnor8419 yes, and for some men they may be a one time date, instead of a forever type party for them who would want their time and money for as long as they are together.
China is Socialist. Just like all socialist countries, once they no longer have money to steal ... they run out of money to do anything. China is at that point right now.
That man has really put thought into his arguments, he wants to raise children that thrive and knows he can't in that society. I feek bad because he'd clearly make a good parent because he's so thoughtful and committed to children's wellbeing and their futures. It's sad for people that actually want kids and know they simply can't because of circumstances.
Man life in China really seems rough. Imagine working for a mortgage and your family doesn't even own the land under it. The best you get is a 99 year lease. With a collapsing economy, over expecting society (although this exists everywhere), and less and less opportunities. I am grateful for my life in California, with parents who support me while I'm in school. They even have enough to live comfortably for the rest of their lives, with more left over to pass to me and my siblings. That being said, the system in America at least lets you and your family keep what you work yourself to death for.
Stop paying your property taxes and see if that land is still yours. You're still effectively leasing your property in the U.S. You may have better property rights than China, but you still don't own the land.
Chinese women will marry... but probably not marry a chinese man. They'll be marrying a foreigner and leaving china. This of course i think will make the Male-Female ratio problem even worse.
@@PinuyashaRPG Agreed. But it’s all relative. The question isn’t if one country sucks and the other doesn’t, it’s which one sucks less. But yeah nothings free. To me it’s better than leasing the land you build your house on, cause then you’re truly at the governments mercy. When the times up, they can choose not to renew your lease(which has already been done to many people) and then you’re screwed. You can’t take the house apart piece by piece and move it.
Good on these people for making a hard but responsible choice. In the US and a lot of other places those who can't afford kids are still all to glad to pump them out, force them into lives of poverty and misery and stick the bill for most of it to the government.
haha, why should I as a young man suffer if its the entire society's fault to begin with. lmao Enjoy paying for my future bastards as its my goal to see how many women i can knock up and leave.
I think it all boils down to the horrible work culture that has evolved. This is a huge issue all over the world but Japan, China, Korea have 996 which is miserable and leaves no time for living or family. Our grandparents didnt have to work as much as we are and had more time for family. Society also wasnt as competitive and even the ones who had more didnt feel the need to shove it in everyones face like they do today. In China the kids have to study and do all those activities that guy mentioned their entire childhoods just to pass that ridiculous exam after high school that determines if they have a future or not. I wouldnt either want to raise a kid in such a pressured environment where they cant just be a kid. The work culture has to change first and the rest can follow. For middle income families it’s doable. I had no idea how I would have time and money to raise my daughter but we found a way one day at a time 😉 Children need quality time with parents more than piano lessons 🥰

While it might not be as bad outside of China, almost every developed country is facing problems with marriage and fertility. Society will have to figure out some kinda long term solution, or we'll all be in dire straits.
Believe it or not, the solution I see is educating people about love. Then when they want to experience it, young, let them, marry them, and fully support it. That, in practice, might mean marrying 2 12 year olds, the age when almost everyone starts wanting to fuck and everyone forbids it. (Oh no they're to young. No. People got very stupid and against natural order of things). They used to get married at 13 in the olden days for a reason, and it worked. Now all you get are unhappy indoctrinated young wage slave adults, with repressed sexuality that will make bad decisions chasing for something they were not allowed to have.
Maybe tell women that they can have perfectly fine relationships with regular guys and we don't need to have a BMW and five million dollars in the bank account to be worth their attention.

I think the fact that chinese also have this tradition of taking care of their parents when they get old, is taking a toll on them. Everyone should take care of themselves in terms of economy, it is their responsbaility. I live in a country where children are expected to take care of their parents (in terms of living together) instead of just taking them to elder facilites, and I'm ok with that because my parents took care of me all of my life, but they made sure to not be a burden to anyone else; my dad had two jobs and is already retired from one and receives a pension, my mom administered the money very well and bought a place for them to rest when they die in a private cemetery (so that we don't have to pay for that), they used to have medical insurance with my dad's job -but now I registered them under my job insurance as it is better-, they own two houses and one property, and don't have any mortgage or debt to pay. They have told us we don't have to worry about spending much when they get older, and you don't know how much we thank that, since it is already difficult for us to even think having a property for ourselves. It is almost impossible, but we'll eventually make it thanks to them. I want to have at least one children, so I'll also make sure that I am not a financial burden to other people. It feels kind of peaceful to know that you took care of that already. I can't imagine how much young people in China struggle just because of that tradition.
It's not like most of the elderly want to depend on their children for support, but that's the reality of being in poverty. China's rise happened in 1 generation, so a great portion of the elderly there today did not have a chance to work during an extreme wealth boom and save for retirement. And with the One Child Policy, the CCP setup a disaster where 1 person has to support their parents and/or grandparents.
Your parents are like my parents. They worked hard and were lucky to work during a time of economic expansion. But opportunities are only good if you are responsible. Your parents and my parents were very responsible and they are now enjoying their fruits of their labors. Greetings from Mexico.

it's much worse in china, because if you get laid off or fired after 35, there's a good chance that nobody will hire you. You become destitute. That will likely be china's next social problem.
indeed, short term planning is the failing of every country in the world. we don't plan anything for our grandchildren and their kids, we plan the world for ourselves right now. and when the world does not need us (ie. retirement) we become a problem for the new gen who plans the world for themselves not us. it's eternal cycle and it just gets worse when old gen tries to hold on to their world while the rest is moving on.
Crazy how the cost of real estate is 90% of the problem. All other problems are symptoms of the real estate squeeze. When she said "if he had 20 sqm he'd be married" pretty much says it all.
It's a complex problem, but much of it is due to the shortage of women. Men are trying to outdo one another wooing potential partners with houses and cars, in a sort of "arms race" which is further driven mad by the traditional perception that the only worthwhile way of saving is through real estate (because of the history of wars, devaluation of currency etc in this past century) etc etc
@@cuauhtemoc8350 I don't think women are in short supply, the problem is what they want from men. Having the CCC (cash, car, condominium) is a lifetime's burden for anyone, and women think that men should have all of that so they are worth loving.
I have 200 sq meters and 7 acres of land, doesn't help me in the slightest, cause it's not a luxury where I am from. I think assuming that all women want is moneys, real estate, cars is superficial thinking. Not matter what place and time, it's always men struggling and fighting for vagina, and women are never make it easier for them. If you never had a girlfriend/wife, that means there's some dude that has 2, 3, 10, 100.
why would any sane or educated person want to have children in a place like this The people who understands and actively chooses and uphold not just randomly and pointlessly popping out children as if that are products possessions, or just free labour; whom makes sure there are stable good healthy environments and contingencies of safety nets The people whom actively works on trying to be a proper parent before even considering having children Are the only truly responsible and moral ones
As their population grows older, and the young have to pay to support their elders, the younger generation will have even less money to spend on children. Imaging having 4 retired grandparents, and you have to help support them. Imagine if one gets sick, and you have to help pay for their bills. As the older generation retires, there will be less things produced, so things will be more expensive.
Why would bring a child to life where kids have an extremely busy schedule, worse than adults in many countries, where competition is so fierce that you are doomed to fail before you even start? Once they grow up, they'd work an inhumane 966 schedule - even if everything works perfectly, still unable to save for a property or retirement. On top of that, partner & family demands are purely transactional. The average person is always an accident away from ruin. Let it rot and get out. Life is more than all this BS shove into your brain.
Great job as always on these videos. The quality of the vids is excellent and the content interesting. Thank you for making your content available on YT
In many parts of the Western world, if your wife is unhappy for whatever reason, then she can just file for divorce. You, as a man, will lose: - Half the time with your children, - Half of your property and assets, including bank deposits and retirement fund - About half your income, due to spousal and child support If you get divorced at about 35 years old, then you still have time to recover financially. However, she wants a divorce after you're more than 50 years old, then you will be permanently financially ruined for the final decades of your remaining life.
@@soundrogue4472 gisdaman beat me to it - just don't get married. Women almost always marry men they don't like just to get resources. And when she gets fed up she will leave him.
When you move away from agrarian society children go from being cheap farm labor to a massive cost - an economic positive to an economic negative. Governments can't seem to turn children into an economic positive again, so the best they can do is make it easy enough to have children that social and biological pressures do enough to keep demographics on a roughly even keel, but many governments can't even do that much, and if they wait too long then the social pressure gets turned down which compounds the problem.
I'm in a relationship almost 14 years. Married 8 years And I sterilized myself without kids My wife and myself refuse to bring kids into this devolution. We are just here to watch the show.
@@Dragonologist you call it a problem, and I call it a consequence. If people were more open to criticism and admitting mistakes we wouldn't be anywhere near this point. I didn't ask to be here so I'm not going to make someone go through this when 95% of people reject solutions because they take sacrifice and consideration. Individualism and cultish submission to authority is America's psychological profile and those two ways of thinking are opposed. It makes us a very mentally ill state as well as anyone else running top-down systems exclusively.
@@bmanagement4657 A-fucking-men. It is not our responsibility to bring endless cruelty and suffering. I had a child, and while I love her deeply I also regret it deeply. I am better off than most, but not nearly wealthy enough to protect her from the upcoming stability issues. The best I can do for her, is give her a home when I pass. And maybe I can help that along when I'm older by going out and getting into a hunting accident so she can inherit the home sooner. Forget it all. Let society crumble and burn. We did it to ourselevs.
it's not only about China, no one should have children and willingly put them to the horrors of current life like most of our selfish parents. The same goes for those idiots who become pregnant "accidentally" or for the "welfare cheque" and cause economic, ethical, and social unrest. Does it hurt our species in the long run? If you don't exist there are no more human problems technically.
Their society has been completely destroyed by 1 child policy. But even in other countries like South Korea ,Japan people don't want to marry cause the development model is completely wrong. Rich got richer. Middle class's life has gotten very difficult.
Chinese really must take this learned helplessness and turn it around into a force against the CCP. They must take their country back and improve their lives.
This is the Biggest benefit to the world right now. Not just there, but everywhere. 7 billion people in the world is too many. We need to focus on helping the people who are here now. Create societies that work as a fully integrated ecosystem. We are just another biological species on this planet.
@@mikusoxlongius doesn't have to be that drastic. The point is that in order to allow everyone to receive the type of lifestyle Americans have, it would take the amount of resources of 7 Earths, but we only have half the planet left. We have to consciously come to understand what works with our natural environment. Making babies that are just going to suffer for the sake of serving the economy of the 1%? Fuck that
@mikeoxlong1748 bro those were made by a racist dentist. Lol 7billion is not too many. We have too much greed. We throw out football fields worth of food in the USA every year. We have plenty it's greed that's killing this world.
RMB$30k is USD$4k per month. That's already half of the population gone. This is even rarer in China. Male with >USD$4k per month has many options. Good luck to her
A "high Value Male" would be able to attract a much younger woman. It is the same as in the West where woman wasted their youth and as they grow older they are looking for that good man they passed up earlier.
There are very few women in China. Thanks to the abortion of females. The gap is much bigger than the government is letting on. Yet they are still pushing the left over woman concept with any female over 25. Basically they were idiots back when they started the one child policy and they are still idiots. And Chinese men are not a great attraction for women outside their culture. North Korea being the one exception and you half to escape from there.
Much younger woman only looks good on paper. Sucks when you hate everything about them except their body and you can't have any intelligent conversations.
This is an international issue, China isn't the only country where raising children is nearly impossible due to finances and toxic corporate work environments.
Singles are not selfish, they are realistic on what it really takes to be fair to the child. Singles are available to serve the community in many creative and valuable ways! We welcome singles to America to bridge divides and help with better understanding between America and China!
It has taken thousands of generations of men and woman to get YOU here. They ALL did it tough. They ALL got through MUCH tougher times than we will ever see. Honor them.
