Makes me eyes burn, we don't do that. That's a army thing saluting indoors like he does. Marines only salute on duty when reporting and wearing a cover. Never without it, ever. If he did want to look like a Marine, he would come to the position of attention, Caffey being a officer in the navy that are trained to work with and support Marines, he is a new officer after all. Would acknowledge this gesture of respect, he would then tell him to dismiss. A informal handshake might be offered by Caffey, as per protocol.

As iconic as all the lines in this scene are one of the things l love the most is the expression on Tom Cruise's face after the confession. It is such of great example of acting without words, nothing but body language and facial expressions.

Its king of ironic Jessop continually going on about honour and loyalty, yet he and Kendrick were very much OK with letting Dawson and Downey take the fall for them. So much for "loyalty", "honour" and "code". I will bet that Jessop never gave it a second thought

It goes even further back than that. When Kaffee asked "When Lieutenant Kendrick spoke to the platoon and ordered them not to touch Santiago, any chance they ignored him?", the answer which would have gotten Jessup off the hook would have been "Yeah, those two guys over there ignored Kendrick and disobeyed a direct order." But Jessup's ego wouldn't allow him to claim that something happened on his base which wasn't explicitly ordered by him.

@sodasaintcommentaries4054 But what made the scene such a great character study is that EVERYONE knows that admitting he ordered the code red would sink Jessup...... EXCEPT JESSUP. After the fact, he can't believe he's being charged with a crime. He gave an order, and that's the end of it. Everything else, the cover-up, the trial is all BS to him. Kaffee cottoned onto this and was able to put Jessup in a place where he just wants to say and do what he wants, by ordering him to sit down, by treating him with no redirect, by making him feel stupid by repeating previous testimony, like a child. By then, Jessup's had enough of the crap. He just wants to say what happened and go back to being the boss. Brilliant.

Sad thing about the ending is the Two Marines so proud to be marines to be a marine you have to dedicate your life to it with honer, “Dishonourable discharge that’s the World falling out of a marines arse” Many failing foul of this charge, join the Legionaries in France 🇫🇷 were they can achieve once again honer & actually on retirement possibly get the finest retirement in the World But let’s not loos sight this is a film (based on a real life event, I don’t know) But a very moving film provoking much thought 👍

What makes this scene unique is that apparently Jack was freestyling here and not improvising

I want to see someone edit this where at 4:50, Tom Cruise has the Gen Z boy mop curls hair cut, and he says "cool story bro".
