Hello, everyone! This is Yuriko.
This channel focuses on interviewing Japanese people and foreigners living in Japan to share their authentic voices with people around the world.
The topic of this video is about hot springs.
This time, I interviewed people working at famous hot spring inns in Japan.
I covered various aspects, such as foreign visitors with tattoos, wearing traditional kimonos, as well as the etiquettes and rules of hot springs. We hope you watch until the end.
This channel provides dual subtitles in both Japanese and English, so it may be helpful for those studying Japanese.
If you have any topics you'd like me to interview Japanese people or foreigners living in Japan about, please let us know in the comments.
Now, please enjoy the video until the end.

There’s another side to this. I’ve been living in Japan 28 years, and love going to onsen. Even in my native Canada I went to hot springs occasionally. Yes there are some basic and fundamental rules for people new to hot springs should learn and follow. But there are also some thing that Japanese may want to think about, regarding “foreigners” in onsen. 1. No one likes to be stared at, whether they are Japanese or gaijin. It makes people uncomfortable if you stare at them. 2. People come to onsen to relax, so it’s best not to use gaijin as a a chance to practice your English. 3. Making personal comments about appearance or body parts also makes people uncomfortable. Try to avoid making comments about other customers. 4. Many gaijin may look different and you may assume they are tourists, however they may well speak Japanese. Please do not talk about them about them in Japanese assuming they don’t understand the language. So the rules are always aimed at the gaijin but sometimes it’s Japanese who may need some guidance about basic manners.
