Heparinized blood or defibrinated blood is preferred for osmotic fragility test because of tge absence of salts.EDTA, oxalates or sodium citrate will increase the salt concentration of blood and possibly skew the results.Heparin is the preferred anticoagulant for the osmotic fragility test.
