First of all, thank you for Fasika Sidelili for you written the amazing Ethiopian History book during the Darge. I do not have any information about the interference of Soviet union in 1981 E.C. Cop data on Mangistu! But according to this book explanation it is true , and I agree with this idea! Because the Soviet union gave a lot of weapons to Ethiopia OR for Colonel Mangistu to used fighting with shabia and Wayne. But those weapons were taken by the enemies from Ethiopian army because of failed leadership in the Ethiopian army. The army was very strongest but many Ethiopian generals frustrated by Colonel Mangistu and they refused to leade the army very successfully to defeated the enemies! Moreover, the war took 17 years bloody war . This and others things angry Soviet union and they need to removed Colonel Mangistu. Also many Ethiopian generals need this solution!! But Colonel Mangistu refused this and all others choices, except what he believed by himself. As Consequences, shabia and Wayne came to power! My conclusion is, yes Soviet union was participating in Cops data. Because they lost so many weapons just for nothing .but Wayne and Shabia advanced in the field!
