We are removing invasive Lionfish in Boynton Beach, Florida!

Our nonprofit removes around 100 Lionfish every time we go out on the boat on average! This 100 fish would end up eating 5 million reef fish in their lifetime. So every trip we end up saving 5 million reef fish from being victims of this invasive species. Not to mention they would lay millions and millions of eggs which would then produce more and more lionfish! So we try to remove as many as we can in the areas that we can get to. Every time they come back in from the deep we are there to apprehend them Before they cause more damage. Watch our channel and learn more about this devastating species here in the US, and throughout the Caribbean. Thank you for your support! Watch for more!! #lionfish #spearfishing #invasive #diving #aqualung #gopro #halcyondivesystems #lec #ocean #showusyourzk

If you can find lionfishes that are actively avoiding you , greater importance must be given to catch that fish, because their decedents will become harder to catch.

@Lionfish_Extermination_Corp
@Lionfish_Extermination_Corp 8 месяцев назад
A lot of people are hunting the Lionfish, and if they weren’t there would be Lionfish literally everywhere, so we are making a big difference. Keeping them under control. They definitely harm the local ecosystem where they are invasive. Along with overfishing Lionfish have replaced predators here and have become the main predator in our waters but as long as we slow them down, that is not the case.

How mobile are the lion fish? Are the lion fish back if you swim the same route after a month or two?
@Lionfish_Extermination_Corp
@Lionfish_Extermination_Corp 8 месяцев назад
They do mosey in overtime. It depends on the weather underwater if there is a upwelling and cold water pushes in from the deep, it can bring with it more Lionfish a lot quicker. But if the water stays the same temperature, it takes a long time for them to come in even months.

@Lionfish_Extermination_Corp
@Lionfish_Extermination_Corp 7 месяцев назад
First of all, we’ve killed most of our small reef sharks. In Cuba they have a protected area that has a lot of sharks that hunt in packs because they are very plentiful. We have solitary sharks here and they will not touch them while alive and feeding these sharks is very dangerous. It can make them aggressive and it’s not worth it, I admire my hands. 😂❤

@Lionfish_Extermination_Corp
@Lionfish_Extermination_Corp 8 месяцев назад
They are not invasive in Australia. They are perfectly in check with the environment where they are originating from which is all of Oceana, which includes Australia. Our nonprofit only gets to go out probably once a week it’s a lot of work and sometimes we go out multiple times, but usually the weather holds us back along with lack of Lionfish if you hit them too often, but we have a good system going. They are now invasive in the Mediterranean along with some other places they’re not supposed to be as well.😢

Also I know from experience owning and servicing many aquariums that triggerfish do have a method of hunting Live Lionfish. Usually the trigger will suck their eyes out first so they can’t see, then they will eat around the venomous spines. They do this with fox face rabbit fish too.
