The Norddalsbrua was built with demolition chambers in the base onninstructions from the Norwegian army. They did blow it during the battle of Narvik but it was only out of action temporarily. As it was the port was heavily damaged also.

I have taken the Stockholm-Narvik train on two different trips. Once round trip, and the other one way to Narvik and then by bus elsewhere in the north. One of the most spectacular experiences of my life.

A much different version than in the show: world class trains. That one was more of a heritage train with wagon-lits sleepers, and a dome car. Heard nothing of this train after 2004 though. Glad to see it survives, albeit modernized. I’d enjoy it more if the train ran in winter.

One of the best videos about this line. The weather was perfect thus making a better video. Just to add some info. The trains are not always on time unfortunately. Especially in the winter thee can be long delays.

@@DJHammersTrains This might vary a bit over the year. When there's a lot of snow, the service might not be as punctual as in the summer.

Thank you so much for the details ! I now want to take that awesome train :) But as I look for tickets, they don't tell far in advance the train timelines. From what you know, was the train working everyday of the year ? Don't want to book my trains/flights for nothing.... Thank you so much if you can help me with that.

Tickets are usually placed on sale a few months in advance. The train generally runs daily, although I recommend checking frequently, especially given that the operating franchise may be relinquished by Vy in the future. Rest assured, the train will certainly continue operating, just under a different operator!

This is the line Hitler used to get much of his iron ore. It played a major role in WW2.
@hakanlennholm3331
@hakanlennholm3331 12 дней назад
I think the Iron ore was shiped out throu the Ice free port of Narvik. Germany was allowed to transport troops to Norway by Swedish railway. Malmbanan(the oretrack) between Luleå-Kiruna-Narvik is the only track i Sweden that is built to manage the heavy loads of Iron ore. Lately there has been some derailments on Malmbanan thanks to pool maintenese.
@KR72534
@KR72534 12 дней назад
@@hakanlennholm3331 the mine that produces much of the ore used by Hitler was originally a strip mine. Today, the ore body is dug from underground shafts at a depth of 2,000 feet. Strangely enough, it is transported out of the mine in trucks that drive deep underground. Tourists can also go down. This arrangement is surely unique.

@@slasherfun 1467 : 18,5 =79,3 km per hours. Not bad average speed!👍 It is not france TGV😙! But it's better than US Amtrak!👍👍😎

@@nicolayu.kotomanoff4358The RC6 has a top speed of 160 km/h, which can be used where the track permits. It's possible that it's going that fast on the more southern sections of this trip.
