Description/Narration: "This was one of the scariest walks I've ever done. I won't even walk the parallel street from Bourbon after the horrors I saw." Comments: "Thank god you made it out alive!" Video: *a totally benign, relaxing walk down Canal, down Bourbon, and down Frenchmen*

I live in the French Quarter and everyone here including the narrator seems like they would feel unsafe anywhere outside of a Ritz-Carlton hotel room. The quarter is extremely safe and this looked like a lovely, peaceful walk. The grime is part of the charm.

Alex Moyers I agree. I’ve never been to New Orleans but I spend a lot of time in Paris. You get much more homeless people yelling shit at you there when you go out at night, as compared to this video. This seemed pretty chill to me, this guy makes it sounds like he’s walking through a warzone.

Omg. If you’re still down there, please be careful. You have to stay in crowded areas because the criminals are always lurking. On the walk down Bourbon to get to Frenchmen, there are multiple signs that say, “stay in large groups”. Even if you see 4 or 5 people on a stretch, don’t trust because a lot of times, they’re together. Also, if you’re with one or two people, don’t think you’re safe, because sometimes they have larger groups and they always have guns. When a guy ran up on my dad, I believe it was in the morning.

@Mahirimah

See John Vlog I’m from Baton Rouge, but my dad lived in the Marigny growing up so I spent summers, holidays, and half my weekends there. I’m down there all the time and am actually about to move back. I’m an adult now, but still stay out very late sometimes, so being wreckless, I’ve experienced these same scary walks and harassment and people scoping you out. If you walk straight down Bourbon on the way to Frenchmen, there are plenty of signs posted up on houses and buildings that say “stay in large groups” and something else about safety. They are about the size of those signs that you see in parking areas that say take/lock/hide your valuables. They were still up less than a year ago. When you’re out there with a crowd, having a good time, you don’t notice. But at midnight/early am when you just had an incident, it feels as if it has flashing neon lights and you’re like, “OMG, they tried to warn us”. Look for them next time. When you’re walking down Bourbon or the residential part of the quarter at odd hours, it’s usually pretty desolate and you will experience exactly what he did, but worse. I think him filming helped him out. I absolutely love New Orleans, but I wouldn’t let my loved ones go on some of these oddly timed walks. My dad used to do these type of things, but that’s why he’s gotten robbed a couple times. One time was early in the morning on Gravier while on the way to work. This early am walk reminded me of that.

Idk I lived there 2 yrs alone and I walked the quarter alone everyday all hours of day and night,never once had any issue. Yes it is a dangerous place but always be aware and don't make yourself look scared or timid,carry yourself with confidence,most people don't want to mess with anyone who could be a match for them. Of course there are some places I just would not go like the riverwalk for one. Idk I'm not scared of much so him continually mentioning the "scary"encounter made me chuckle😂😂 **Edit** Frenchman st smells just as bad as bourbon with the cleaning solutions and grunge😂 Also nola is very pet friendly. The more I watch this dude the more I laugh...man just go back to NY cause you ain't ready for new orleans...you weak bru😂 I bout lost it when he got to the mint and saw old man Joe and Tully asleep😂😂😂 dude take yo scary ads back to the east coast!!!

Hah! Me too, I agree! He was so scared walking, and nobody even tried to mess with him. I lived in the N.0 for two years myself after Katrina, and never once had a problem. You know the motto down there in the boot........."don't start no shit, won't be no shit. Hah, he even said that the brother on the bike who tried asking for a dollar, threatened to beat him up! Hah! How sad! That's terrible how they try to stereotype so-called black people ya know?

Big time! It's funny how he got to some of the more "straight up dangerous areas", and said "boy do I feel safe now!" Hah! Ol boy ain even gotta clue how it really goes down in New Orleans. And I'm not trying to glorify anything criminal..........but that dude needs to be in the backseat of a taxi taking that film, because he's not built for the streets of New Orleans! What a shame. Makin all that mess, and nobody even tried to do him something dirty. He's the type they definitely would Rob. Boy did he get a pass

Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop is even older, it dates to the 1770s as a Creole cottage but may have started building in the 1720s. It's been a bar for some time.....Sales tax is high, but as a tourism-driven economy it offsets some of the burden from locals. Up in Lake Providence, the tax is 11.45% which is one of the top rates in the US.

Always love your vids but you put yourself at risk wandering alone with a camera in that area. I’m planning to go there solo in November, also a photographer and a New Orleans afficianado regarding the history, food and music. But one needs to be very aware in this notoriously dangerous albeit fascinating city and be extremely careful if going off the beaten path in quiet areas. And Bourbon Street and drunk frat kids certainly does not define New Oreans. So many layers of history in this place. Peace!

Speaking of getting robbed in New Orleans. In 1999 I went to New Orleans to meet up with a friend. We spent a week there. She had to leave to go back home a few days before I did, so I spent two extra days there by myself. On the last day I was walking back to my hotel and two guys robbed me. One definitely had a knife and the other acted like he had a gun (he may have had one, but I didn't actually see it) They got my wallet that had about $200 in it.

He was very impressed with the prosperity & in a letter home said 'even servants here wear white muslin.' (Wow!). Later in a Very non-PC remark, 'the blacks are the laziest people I ever saw'. 4:32 Ecosia and Wikipedia inform me that Ignatius Jacques Reilly is the central character of John Kennedy Toole's pulitzer prize winning novel A Confederacy of Dunces which is a picaresque novel published in 1980, eleven years after Toole's suicide. Ignatius Jacques Reilly is something of a modern Don Quixote-eccentric, idealistic, and creative, sometimes to the point of delusion. In his foreword to the book, Walker Percy describes Ignatius as a "slob extraordinary, a mad Oliver Hardy, a fat Don Quixote, a perverse Thomas Aquinas rolled into one". He disdains modernity, particularly pop culture. The disdain becomes his obsession.

I was walking with a friend on Bourbon Street at night. I've never seen so many drunk folks in all my life. We were on our way back to the hotel and caught sight of two kids about 11 or 12 years old who thought they'd try and mug two New York women. We scared the crap out of them and they hauled out of there. I was nervous with you walking around at night there. Please be safe, ActionKid. Your RU-vid family cares about you!

@critter_creek_nature_videos
@critter_creek_nature_videos 5 лет назад
@@ActionKid Have you found anything lessens the incidence of overheating? What do you do when it overheats? Do you have to wait a certain amount of time before you start filming again? Do you switch batteries? Are you considering getting the gopro8 in the hopes they have fixed the overheating problem? I'm asking because I'm considering getting either the gopro5 (because I can use reelSteady with it) or gopro7 or the gopro8. Also, why do you use a gimbal when gopro7 has built in stabilization? Couldn't you just use a selfie stick instead, as that would be lighter.
@ActionKid
@ActionKid 5 лет назад
kevin2318 The overheating issue is a big problem, especially when the outside temperature is warm. I carry two cameras with me. If a camera overheats I pull out the battery, place it to the side and then start recording with the other camera. You can also record for shorter durations to prevent it from overheating. You have to be careful though, one of my battery pull tabs broke when my camera overheated and I believe the extreme heat melted the glove that held the tab to the battery. I had to use a knife to get the battery out of the camera. I’m definitely getting a GoPro HERO8, let’s hope the new camera has better thermals. I could use a selfie stick for my GoPro HERO7 Black but using a gimbal makes the footage just that much better.
