Nice to hear they're planning on making outdoor dining a permanent thing. We have it over here as well and have a similar climate to NYC. A lot of bars and restaurants have strong weather proof awnings with infrared or electric heaters keeping people warm.

As for _al fresco_ eating, here in Riga, Latvia, most restaurants have only recently shut up their outdoor seating. Mind you, New York is at 40.7degN of latitude whereas we are at 57degN. Some outdoor seating can be had most of the year, the restaurants and bars providing outdoor heating and blankets. I suppose if you don't mind your food going cold in 10 secs while an icy wind blows around, it works - or if you have to smoke continually. In the old city section of Riga (Vecriga), outdoor seating is very pleasant as there is hardly any traffic and you're not breathing in exhaust fumes with your food. Months ago, Lithuania came up with the idea of permanent outdoor seating for Covid reasons, the city of Vilnius allowing space on roads and local parks and squares to be used so that table distances were good.

The thing I loved most about New York generally, is how the police just don't get involved with things like street traders selling fake goods. In the UK they would be arrested if they saw a cop though there aren't many around these days. The cops are cool in New York. They don't get involved if it's not their area of work. :) Loved your video, so I'm subscribed, thank you :)

I think while Covid is still going on the outdoor dining areas are cool...but...with most of these outdoor areas just taking portions of the street, wouldn’t this be a safety/security risk? It would be so easy for someone to either accidentally or, God forbid purposely try to take a vehicle and hurt people.
