The final depot out of the three that were slated to receive their own allotments of 2024 XD40's was JFK Depot, in order to assist with the replacement of all of their 2006-2007 Orion VII 2nd Generation+ HEV's, and 2008 Orion VII Next Generation HEV's. While these buses were those two fleets final nail in the coffin, as it stands, this order is not enough to replace all of the remaining 2009-2010 Orion VII Next Generation HEV's in JFK and Far Rockaway, as that responsibility goes to the much larger fleet of 2023-2024 Nova Bus LFS', which these XD40's share a space with. As all of LaGuardia's and Eastchester's allotments have been completed, all remaining 2024 XD40's that've entered service throughout the month of June is for JFK, giving passengers of heavy routes like the Q60 more brand new Xcelsiors to take on their daily commutes. JFK being one of Queens most busiest and widespread depots due to the diversity of some of their routes, the Q60 which is one of if not the most busy route of the depot, has as of recent shifted from operating majority older Orion VII buses of any kind, to mainly Nova Bus LFS', and the occasional 2024 XD40, as they continue to roll into the depot and replace even more buses, assisting the LFS fleet, especially with the frequency of New Flyer's deliveries to the MTA. Similarly to Eastchester and LaGuardia, these buses have grown a majority positive reputation amongst riders and operators alike, with the newest buses of the bunch having the strongest "new bus smell" of them all for every rider to experience once they walk in. #mtabus
