I've been on several linssen's over the years and I am always amazed about how much they get into their steel hulled boats which I hasten to add are so easy to drive. Another great tour nick of a wonderful Dutch cruising yacht.
The GA is so clever and yet I always imagine these as river boats "only". Would love to see more of a trawler style design from Linssen. Wonderful tour, thanks a lot.
Ahh I forgot about the great river systems in Europe! That explains the convertible top. On a river even if a tree falls through the top you just have to make it to the next marina
I admired one of these from afar as it was moored close to me once, always fancied a look inside and never did until now, wow it didn’t disappoint. Absolutely lovely, again quality shines through. Thanks for that.
You could quite easily cruise across The Channel, then on down the french canals, come out into the Med, then work your way around the Spanish coast & back up past France & the Channel Islands in this! What a lovely live-aboard vessel!
I could live on that one for the rest of my life. As a matter of fact I´m coming up to retirement age in a couple of years and I have thought a lot about changing to a life afloat. That is over my budget, though but there are used boats on the market. Great choice for a video, not all of us want to go fast...
My God, that boat is unbelievable. Unique. I love that galley/lounge area; really cozy, for lack of a better word. I could see traveling south Florida and the Keys for a few months with that boat. Turn the twin cabin to a small office, make some room in it for dry goods storage and some cold storage and let it rip. Your videos keep getting better and better, Nick. Thank you.
You had me at the Vara-Top. Nothing could match that. Then we went below decks to a sizable salon, a comfy dining area and well laid out galley. With the guests comfortably cared for in the forward quarters, seeing the owner's cabin is a delight. Sadly, you've made a title error - stating the boat is a mere 48 feet. It is obviously a sixty eight footer. NO? It's forty eight? Yeow - that is SWELL. Many thanks to all at Linssen and to you Nick, for making this video happen.
Hi Nick, And thank you for this great show of this beautiful Linssen Grand Sturdy 480 Variotop my favourite yacht and to see Europe in a slow speed I like the 2 bedrooms with there own head the Variotop witch is insulated so cruising the year around I think there was a second fridge next to the wine cooler hope to see more of those dutch build yacht on your channel Thanks again Nick ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Well I'm with you Nick . . . love that true convertible style roof. I'm not a big fan of climbing up and down to a flybridge and this eliminates that need. Also impressed with the interior layout and that stand alone shower compartment with the hidden laundry. Somebody's wife had some input there (lol). But seriously, this would be an ideal summer live-aboard for the Great Lakes Region of Canada, which can be subject to some pretty rough weather. I'd feel very comfortable and safe in this vessel. It's won a spot on my "favourites" list.
They say the best time you have with boats is when you buy and sell them. My best time with boats, is when Nick is exploring and filming. I don't need to buy one. I just play one of Nick's videos and you are 99% there. Thanks Nick!
What a beautiful cruiser! Everything you need solidly built and very ergonomic! With a sunroof. Great tour as always. Thank you and have a great weekend one and all.
@@AQUAHOLIC nick, we could have really used some B-roll of that vario top opening up and closing, I thought your presentations were virtually flawless but just realized you might be able to step it up even more if you get yourself an insta360 on a extendible monopod with gorilla clamp
Love the convertible roof! It would be a real drag (literally, aerodynamic drag) on a fast cruiser, but on something like this it's perfect! For American viewers surprised by the separate shower and toilet: that's very much a Dutch thing (don't know about other European countries). Typical Dutch homes have two water closets (toilet rooms), one downstairs and one upstairs, and then a separate room for the shower or bath with a sink upstairs.
You forgot to mention that the whole installation where the roof folds into itself ALSO can be lowered. This allows for cruising through France as it lowers the draft to below 3,5m (if you lower the mast also).
Not the fun in the sun speed demon so many think they need. That's ok, wave at them as they blow by you, wave at them as they keep stopping for fuel, wave at them as you just leisurely motor around enjoying life on the water as they go blowing back to their hectic lives. Love this boat, thanks for bringing it to us.
Two words… RELAXED CRUISING! What a lovely, classy, well built boat… it just does what it says on the tin - smashing! I think you like that roof Nick! 😃👍🏻
Superb tour of a wonderful boat. It’s not my cup of tea, but if it’s the style you’re looking for I doubt you’d find better. The roof is such a simple idea (with clever engineering) that I’m surprised more manufacturers don’t offer it.
Hey Nick now that is a serious boat filled with very clever ideas while still looking luxurious, Dutch steel boats have been around for a long while and it looks like they will be around for a long time to come, great tour as usual and have a great day bud 👍
fantastic - me and my dad shared a linssen Grand sturdy 36 - was moored in Carrybridge Enniskillen. Great times. Great boat. Perfect for the lakes. Took it all the way to Shannon!
What a beautiful (brand new 2 year old 😳boat) so practical and luxurious. Hats off to the owners for keeping her that way. We hired a GS 38 a few years ago on Loch Lomond. Was a home from home easy to manage and so practical. The steel hill makes boating more stable. Thanks for sharing Nick. 😎✌🏻
Wow it's the kind of boat that keeps on giving. Every time you think OK, that's that, there is another cabin with another extra feature you don't even see on bigger boats ...
Just like a Rolls-Royce Dawn I like it that they put a convertible roof on a yacht have an excellent day and I hope you and Mary are having a wonderful weekend
Another great review! The Dutch build some amazing boats. I happened across a Jetten Beach 62 on line that would be great to see a review of from you. Also, the rear cabin layout is brilliant and unfortunately in the US they seems to have gone away but it offers so much more living space. This boat would be a perfect boat for the Great Loop. Keep up the great work!
Like this boat the roof is a great idea for this boat she very versatile. Nice cabin and salon layout and it feels light and airy. I can see why you like it.
Love the interior, nice finishes and quite spacious. Looks really solid and capable of going places the other types of yacht we normally see cannot go. Lovely tour Nick, thank you.
My cars have been doing that roof trick for decades. I too have wondered why nobody is using the same technology on certain yacht types. Brilliant indeed, I would've like to have seen the roof extend back to the closed position. Have a wonderful week Nick.
Beautiful, very homely and comfortable inside. As you say a live aboard. When I saw the inner lining on the wheel house roof I thought "Convertible roof, just like a car". And your right why hasn't It been done more often. But I will say they can be troublesome if not set up and adjusted correctly. Id hate to have it decide not to close as a rain squall arrives on the horizon. But I'm sure Linnsen's is one of the best. Love it.
Very interesting boat, that would be perfect for rivers and fjords. And it looks like there is a good ballance between quality and cost. Thanks for touring it for us 😃
Absolutely gorgeous little ship. It’s so refreshingly different to the typical yacht. Was wondering where the refrigeration was? Saw the wine chiller but for a yacht made for long voyages seemed as if there wasn’t much refrigeration/freezer facilities! But what a yacht. Thanks for bringing us this one.
Hi Stephen, I am pretty there's a fridge and freezer. However, both are probably not that big. A typical owner of such a boat is retired and spends half the year on his boat. But... most owners mainly sail the inland waters. European rivers and canals connect Amsterdam with Berlin, Brussels, Paris, the mediterranean, and so on. They spend months on their boat but there's usually a town or city within half a day asiling. Even if they go coastal a harbour is never far away.
Hi Nick, an absolute gem of a boat, and my favoured galley below set up. A great inland/estuary boat for Northern waters. A few tweaks in owners cabin for wardrobe space and its virtually ready for extended stays abourd. Cheers DougT
I really like the of the separation of the head and shower forward. It makes it easier for 2 cabins to share toilet and shower facilities. It seems that they used to do that more often on boats. But now seems there has to be a full bathroom for each compartment. It seems wasteful to me, especially when the whole boat doesn't seem over large.
I really like this boat! One request if I may…could you do a video on the historic boats at the show? I really would live the Aquaholic treatment of that MGB that was across the dock.
I must have odd taste in boats... I love the steel, and styling of purpose. I look around at prices and this seems a steal... impressive!!! Nick you buy it and do a podcast aboard 👍👍👍 meet me in Superior 😆
Linssen great yachts… glad to see it in review by you 😁 live very close to the builder here in Maasbracht Netherlands. Not cheap but great value for money. One of the best “tradtional” design yachts.
Whoa! Is that a patrol boat across the dock? Love the Linssen! I wish there were more builders working in steel and aluminum. Years ago I was looking at a rather worse for wear Inland Seas (steel hulled boats built in Sandusky, OH) and while running my hand over a dimple in the port quarter the owner said: "Oh yes. That's where the race boat hit us. He sank."
It's no Gulf Craft Majesty 175 so on this boat what can I say. For me typically this is not my type and style of boat to which that I'd aspire, but saying that this boat I like. I like the layout very much and the roof I've got to say I'm with you on that one Mr Burnham sir 🤗 plenty of room plenty of storage, I always like the splitting of the shower and toilet seems more practical to me. My only downside on this one for me would be the speed, but that's only because I'd feel more comfortable with the ability to out run the weather for example I have no problems with normal operation at lower speeds. Again Nick thank you for a great tour ❤️ Aquaholics as ever keep up with the good work sir 👌🖖
