By some margin the largest and most spectacular superyacht I've ever been lucky enough to film. This is M/Y Samurai.

@aquaholiic I just want to let you know your focus on other key areas of the yacht is very much appreciated. Mainly I'm talking about the tender garage. I've always been fascinated with the concept of a storage area in a boat for other boats. Some yacht tour videos tend to gloss over that area, but not you. I really appreciate that and I hope you get to see some even crazier examples in the future. If you ever get a chance to film a yacht launching or recovering its tenders and toys, as well as setting up the beach club when they arrive somewhere, I personally would be super psyched to see those videos as well.

We saw this Yacht off Formentera this past summer. We were moored in Espalmador and watched with interest when the crew set up the beach for sundowners for the Samurai guests.....from start of setup to completion of packing away reckon they spent about 7-8 hours and the guests spent maybe 1 hour on the beach!! And one of the tenders used was an Axopar Brabus. A completely different world!!!!

Nicholas, people are going to think I don't have all my wagons in a circle, but I'd rather have the Gulf Craft Majesty 140. The Alia is magnificent but there is something about that Gulf Craft I really like. The Alia is about $51 million US vs the Gulf Craft at $17 million respectively. So, that puts the Gulf Craft closer to my current budget of zero US $ .

I completely agree! I am actually in the market for a Gulf Craft at the moment but I think I prefer the Majesty 125 to the 140 as it has a slightly more homely feel to it and don't see too much advantage in the extra footprint for the additional outlay. But unfortunately I am still waiting on a reply from Gulf Craft's sales team following my original enquiry as to whether they had any used boats in the sub 30ft range. Hoping they get back to me soon.

A rule-of-thumb is 10% of initial purchase price for yearly operational costs; however, if the owner uses it for private and does not take it out constantly the costs drop significantly. Chartering has more costs attached to it e.g., summer charters only, year round charters, etc. My dinghy overhead is 11.5% since it is year round charter with a few blacked out weeks for personal use.............

Just a little correction here, the boat is Chinese themed, not japanese. The painting in the master cabin is a picture of Tiananmen in Beijing, the clothes hanging on the wall is what government officials wear in Qing dynasty.

Sadly tours in port are only going to show the aft and interior unless you happen to not have ships next to them. Plenty of articles online that show exterior shots. I haven't even finished the vid and I already see a few things I like: 1, the Asian inspired design reminds a bit of Firefly, I just love it. 2, accessibility for disabled people in a wheelchair, all the guest cabins are on the main deck meaning a wheelchair doesn't need to be moved between decks that frequently. 3: size, I like a big boat, and I sort of am wishing that Nick could something like the Hodor. Edit: More stuff I like. 4. bathrooms are everywhere, 5: the bridge has a ton of room, lots of crew could be in there and there would still be room. 6: crew areas, like the engineering, their cabins, and their mess, it's just amazing to someone who loves the behind the scenes stuff. 7: I think the beach area is just incredible. I genuinely think this is the best boat that Nick has covered. Amazing job sir.

Its interesting that for a boat named after a type of Japanese warrior, a lot of the hanging artwork is Chinese. That's like a yacht named "Conquistador" decorated with mostly Greek artwork. But a great looking yacht nonetheless, and a great tour!

This is such a nice boat that I’ve watched this twice. Nick, you’re going to have to get working. I’m running out of videos. I think I am just about gone through every single one. They must have missed the memo that said Nick from Aquaholic is going to be filming, so everyone disembark. There were a lot of bits and pieces that could have been covered in all the areas if you would have not had so much company on board. But none the less, you did your best to film what some are not able to view. Thank you!

So it costs 10% of the total price of the ship to run annually... but why, though? Fuel and supplies, obviously, but you really need a crew? What if the owner knows how to drive it on their own? Is there a law that says you can't use the ship without a crew, no matter how rich you are? I was wondering because if I had the money for something like this, having a bunch of 'employees' on the ship feels like it would take away the feeling of it being privately yours. Also, you see that hardly anything is strapped down on yachts so dishes and decor don't go flying everywhere in a storm. Seems as if yachts are something that most people don't take very far from shore.
@AQUAHOLIC

It doesn't cost 10% of purchase price to run. It's a myth.

Running a ship like this is a full time job. Sure, you could study to become a ship Captain and "run it yourself" but if you can afford the $50,000,000 price tag who wants to be spending every waking moment worried about running the ship ashore or hitting an iceberg? I'll take the crew, though I'm not opposed to washing a few dished occasionally.
