Fun fact: Kazakhstan was the last SSR to leave the Soviet union because Russia DECLARED Independence from Kazakhstan, making Almaty (the then capital of Kazakhstan) the defacto capital of the Soviet union for 4 days until Kazakhstan would declare independence from the already dead USSR

Well, if you want a simple answer, the eastern bloc (which included many states like poland Bulgaria romania hungary czheckoslovakia and east germany) were basically soviet puppet states, the leaders in those countries were basically the leader of the ussr’s puppets, but in the 1990s, a man called gorbachev became the leader, and unlike most soviet leaders, he allowed people to not like the goverment, he allowed people to enjoy western culture, but something Else he allowed which would eventually lead to the soviet union’s collapse, was he allowed the eastern bloc to vote on if They wanted to be part of the eastern bloc, and people began voting to leave it, some nations joined nato, germany reunited, and if the eastern bloc wasnt enough, estonia began declaring independence (along with all the other baltic states soon after), and while you might think that russia was the last ussr member, it was actually Kazhakstan, so basically, what made all of this happen was, people were sick of being under the rule of the ussr, so when They actually got the right to vote, They began voting to stop being under soviet control.
Gorbachev was a weak leader. And an attempted coup mostly crippled his power, which allowed Belarus, Russia and Ukraine to declare independence. Although he had firstly mostly crippled his own power by allowing western culture, for people to like democracy, and for the Soviet people to be free. He made them too free though. However, declaring independence became a hype train for every other SSR and thus it collapsed
