I can remember this episode especially the dialog at 19:33. Amazing 59 years ago and the quality of this, over what was then, and now, on TV stands.

All together now: "They just don't make them like this any more". And as I've commented elsewhere, they COULDN'T make them like this any more. Emotional sensibility is partly social and cultural . . . and it would be hard to find enough writers, directors, actors who share the OSB sensibility today. Maybe we do other things better today (of course . . .), but not this particular kind of thing . . .

I've experienced some of what she did, especially as portrayed in the recording. After my husband died, I found myself pleading with him, begging him to please let me see him one more time. This went on for a couple of years. I would pretend to see him, hear him, fantasy "memories " & real memories. I would laugh, holding conversations with him, reenacting a memory. I would dance with him, hold him, tilt my head to the side so that he could tickle-kiss my neck. He was the polar opposite of the husband shown here. So, no wonder I lived in a fantasy world after he died. The heartbreak was/is real & intense.

The year was 1966. I grew up extremely shy so I never talked to girls. I was 15 when my Mother brought a Ouija Board. My Mother, brother and sister tried to get it to work. Finally my Mother told my sister, "Go get Rick. Strange things happen around him". When I walked into the room, they placed their fingers on the planchette and my Mother said, "Touch this". There was no room so I used my "pinky" and touched it. The planchette went crazy going around and around. When it calmed down, they were able to take turns asking it question. Finally my Mother asked, "Who is Rick going to marry?". The planchette went to "J", then "B". I didn't know anyone with those initials and never gave it a second thought. Any way, 3 years later, in College, a girl asked me out. What was strange, being Japanese, I was only attracted to Japanese girls. The girl that asked me out was White. Her name? Janet Bailey. She became my girlfriend and we married after College.

Well that was a plot twist. Didn't see it coming. I was already prepared to comment "wow, great psychiatrist, arrives your home and says you're gonna be happy where you're going, best way to threat a crazy person" and then when she just went with him I knew there was something wrong. Awesome episode.

Is part of his mask and masquerade; my aunt married a man like that. She had a miserable life. Both died. She died first and he followed her not too late. It was hard for him, and old psycho, living without torturing her. If there's a Hell he must be there.

They fought together in the Resistance. He apparently became successful/wealthy over the years of their marriage and felt entitled to cheat on his wife. That's how it was and probably still is among the upper class.
