I am speechless by the quality of this video . The content, the beautiful videos the maps etc.. It is clear that you are a great professional tourist guide . THANK YOU SO MUCH
We are planning a one month visit to Spain in September and I feel like I know you because of how many of your videos I have watched! Dear Tony, thank you for the clarity, breadth and depth of your offerings. Your comprehensive and detailed information has helped me plan so many aspects of our "bucket list" trip. Also purchased some of your guides which I trust and look forward to using.
I went to Toledo in Sept 2023 and had a wonderful experience. Be prepared though the streets can be very intense. Make sure to wear great walking or running shoes. There’s lots of up hill streets but worth the hike up. Definitely recommend going into the Cathedral St.Mary. The interior and frescos are spectacular! This is a great informative video. 👏
I got back from my trip to Spain last week and had a wonderful time in Valencia, Madrid, and Toledo. I followed your guide in order and it was perfect. I ended the first day at the cathedral (spectacular!) and then checked into the lovely hostel I stayed at next to the cathedral, Casa de Cisneros. Highly recommend Casa de Cisneros, especially for solo traveler. It’s in a renovated medieval building and their rooftop terrace view over the city looking toward the Alcazar is awesome!
I'm from Canada and will be visiting Spain for the first time with friends in June. I wanted to express my sincere thanks to you for your outstanding videos (I have watched many hours already). This Toledo video is exactly what I have been searching for - details about what to see, stay one night or not? how to get there? Places to eat etc. Thank you!!
Tony had prepared an amazing guide again, It's nice to have mentioned all the stages of the trip. Tips about Elevator and view points are was very useful.
When I went to Toledo last April, I took Bus #71 to the highest stop, at Hospital Virgen del Valle, then walked across the street and down the paved trail to the Mirador del Hospital Virgen del Valle, which I had seen on Google Earth. I had studied the area carefully to see if there was an adequate trail down from there. Unfortunately, I forget that the trail starts a little way before you get to the mirador, and so I was scrambling a bit and worried I might get injured -- and I was already limping from twisting an ankle two days earlier and then banging up my other knee that morning. Plus, I am not a young person! As soon as I saw the Parador to my left and a rough trail leading there, I went that way, which was a longer route down than I had planned. But I got to the famous mirador safely, and then caught the return bus from Los Cigarreles. The timing of the buses was about right for that adventure. I still had one more day to limp through, which detracted somewhat from my enjoyment of Toledo (my last stop in Spain), but the city is certainly worth visiting.
Hello Tony & Cecilia! Excellent video &, stunning scenery so much so as to warrant more than 7 days. You are correct to say that a day trip is so rushed. We agree because we have done it with a tour. Now, however, after watching your video, we definitely would consider 10 or more days to travel slowly & really enjoy the history of Toledo while walking as much as our feet will allow. Thank you for such beautiful cinematography. 😊😊😊
Many thanks for this video. We just came back from Spain and Toledo stole our hearts. We only spend one day Toledo and thought we saw a lot, but after seen this video l find out we have a lot more to see. Next time we will stay at least 2 nights. A restaurant we love was The Clandestina. A 5 meal course that also included a glass of wine, water, bread coffee and cookies for the coffee for 30€ was one of the most delicious meal we had in Spain. Thanks once again!!!
Hi Walter, yes, many people who've been to Toledo are quite surprised by the amount of incredible places they didn't see. Thanks for the recommendation of La Clandestina! All the best!
Tony, Thank you SO MUCH for posting this guide to Toledo today! I am going to a conference in Valencia later this week and then plan to spend 4 days in Madrid before returning to the US. I was planning to do a day trip to Toledo but now I will definitely spend a night there instead. I’m looking for a hotel right now in the historic center. If you have any recommendations, I’d appreciate it. Oh, and I purchased your guide to Toledo too-so excited to see the city!
Thank you, Gerald, glad to hear the Toledo guide arrived at a very convenient time to you. I assume you have seen our video on Valencia too. Blank hotel recommendations are always hard, at our most recent stay in Toledo we stayed at this apartments, simple but conveniently located: www.booking.com/hotel/es/grecorooms.es.html?aid=359492 Have a great trip!
Thanks for the tip, Tony. There seems to be many good choices. Indeed, I have watched your Valencia video. In fact, your channel has been my primary source of preparing for my trip (learning vocabulary for tapas is essential 😊)Also, great info on public transportation. Interestingly, I discovered your channel last year when preparing trips to Portugal and at the time I didn't know I'd be going to Spain too. One-stop shopping....)
On a day, if you organize yourself well, you can see all the monuments included in the tourist wristband, the cathedral and the library. That's the proposal of our Toledo in one day travelguidesspainandportugal.com/product/toledo-in-one-day/
Yes, most people don't get to scratch the surface of what Toledo has on offer, which is quite a lot. Always good to have a reason to return to a place you liked!
Hola Tony. This is the best video on Toledo I have seen. Your photography is excellent. Will you do a video on Mallorca? It is a wonderful place as well, especially the west coast of the island. Thanks for your many wonderful videos. In my opinion, your station is essential viewing for anyone travelling to Spain.
Thank you, Patrick. We've been to Mallorca several times, but that was before we had the channel. We are returning to the capital on the second half of this year, but we will just be covering Palma, the beaches will have to wait.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Please could you do a detailed video of Ronda, how to spend a day & how to reach the best viewpoints of the gorge. I checked the above link but it is only a quick summary. Thanks 😀
iHola Tio Tony! I'm very excited for the coming few years as Spain will be the site of back-to-back solar eclipse viewing opportunities in the summers of both 2026 and 2027! The 2026 total eclipse will pass over northern Spain from the Atlantic coast to the Mediterranean coast as well as the Balearic Islands. The total eclipse will be visible from the cities of Valencia, Zaragoza, Palma and Bilbao but both Madrid and Barcelona will be just outside the path of totality. The 2027 total eclipse will commence over the eastern Atlantic Ocean and travel past the Strait of Gibraltar between Spain and Morocco. Totality will be visible in southern Spain. I can't wait to see your upcoming content on practical information and insider tips for these two incredible events! I'm excited because during the upcoming US eclipse in April 2024, I'll actually be in Europe (Paris) and so I'll miss that, but good to know that there's at least 2 more I can look forward to in the not too distant future.
Hi Tony! Thank you for another comprehensive and informative video guide! I have a question - how can we find the escalator you mention at the beginning of the video? The one you recommend to take instead of walking up the stairs? I was trying to find it on google maps, but failed. Could you give us the coordinates to put in google map, please? Thank you so much!
Hello Tony, Amazing video and very helpful. But I would like to ask an additional question about if I were to buy a knife in toledo ( as a souvenir to bring home to my friend who’s a big fan of knives/swords) and I plan to take the knife (still wrapped) back home through the airport to, will I even be able to do that? Or will I not be able to bring it back home? And if it’s possible, what should i need to do to let me pass through security without any problem with security and all. Thanks for any help 🙏
hi Tony, I will be visiting Toledo next week. I bought my train tickets b4 watching your video. I am convinced that I really should get the 1 day self-guided tour so save time. My train will arrive at 8.23am and leave at 5.47pm. Will I have sufficient time to explore everything in the guided tour? gracias
Hi Irene, you are arriving in Toledo too early (attractions open at 10 am) and returning far too early. You will struggle to complete the day tour, you might not make it to some of the attractions.
Thank you for this, Tony. At the moment I have a Segovia/Toledo tour booked. Transportation, 2hr tour Segovia with entrance to the Alcazar included, tour in Toledo with entrance to the Cathedral included all for about $72. Naturally I'm on someone else's schedule, but is it possible to do this on my own with your tour? I'm open to getting there early and staying late, but purchasing all these add ons seems to make the combo tour seem the better deal.
Hi Tammy, we find a Segovia/Toledo tour in the same day a truly unfortunate offering. Plenty of hours on the road to see a minute part of the interest sights in both cities. Why? Our one-day self-guided tour of Toledo will take you to all the interesting places, at your own pace, with no need to embark on a mad-rush trip travelguidesspainandportugal.com/product/toledo-in-one-day/ Whatever you do, make sure you dedicate at least a full day to Toledo. All the best.
I purchased the walking tour and it looks great. I’m going to be visiting in August and I’ve tried to buy train tickets from Madrid but can’t find any on the Renfe website. Is it too far away(3 months)? How far away can I buy tickets? I will be with 3 other people.
Hi Tito, yes, it's too far ahead. With Renfe, you never know when tickets go online, but you can simulate a purchase for an earlier date to get an idea. The prices for the Madrid-Toledo train are always the same. All the best!
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal thank you for the reply. Your videos and guides are the best! We will be in Zaragoza for a night. If you want to meet for dinner with me and my family you are most welcome to come along 😊
Hi Tony thanks for this detailed information. Would I be able to visit the Toledo viewpoints with the walking Tour ? If not, do I take a taxi to the viewpoints and then begin the walking tour. I'm visiting on Monday and would.like to purchase the walking tour ?
Hi Deborah. The walking tour doesn't include the viewpoints. So take a taxi when you arrive in Toledo, visit the viewpoints and then head to Puerta de Bisagra, the beginning of the walking tour. Try to begin your walk no later than 9:30 am.
@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal HI Tony thanks for the response. Our train arrives in Madrid at 9:11 so it might be wise to skip the viewpoints and start with the walking tour. Your thoughts?
Hi Tony we are 4 adults staying in Madrid in September. Is it possible to Uber or Bolt to Toledo and return for convenience? Is it comparable price to the train? How late do drivers work in Toledo for return? Thanks your videos are the best!! Tom
Hi, technically, you could use it, but check the price, it might cost you a fortune. Also, you might have problems on the trip back, the situation of Uber in Toledo, unlike in Madrid, is quite controversial, facing protests and legal restrictions. All the best!
