bit.ly/Tjqxqt - Get it on Gamersgate store.steampowered.com/app/205... - Get it on Steam TotalBiscuit takes an in-depth look at Arkane and Bethesda's latest release, Dishonored, a steampunk stealth adventure.
Both the dlc made it way more fun to play non-leathal with more tools and playing brigmore witches after playing KoD allows you to use the same save you used in KoD. All of your items upgrades and abilities will be transferred.
Plus the Coldridge Prison mission (When you're playing as Daud) especially on a non-lethal playthrough is the most interesting mission in Dishonored, on par with Lady Boyle's Last Party.
Actually you can kill on Low Chaos. In fact the skill that makes corpses disappear upon stealth kills matches perfectly. It's far quicker than chocking and then having to hide the body. Sometimes you just need to kill a small number of carefully selected guards in each mission to get through undetected and it would still be low chaos.
I really like how TotalBiscuit reviews the options, menus and configurations of games at the start of his videos, and always criticize stupid and unelegant design. Games with great interface make for less hassle and easier access to the actual gaming; and more options allow players to customize games to their preference - and I think it's important that there's a critic out there who makes developers aware that gamers notice this. Keep up the good work, TotalBiscuit, you're my favorite critic.
I disagree with the array of weapons you can use. The weapons combined with abilities makes the gameplay very varied if you put your mind to it. The weapons are limited because it is a stealth game, not action. You are not meant to be discovered at any time, but if you are doing high chaos runs it doesn't matter. You are specialized in a few weapons, that is who Corvo is.
Honestly, this is one of my favorite games of all time. So expertly made, really hoping for a next-gen sequel. Its prolly the only game I've played, that is exactly like the trailers, even the cinematics. You can honestly play ANY way you want, choose any path and just play, not following a path, or any corridor. It is so fantastic.
Already 9 years ago i accepted that you could not look forward to games. But Dishonored 1 and Metro 1 and 2 are some of my all time favorite games so far. Playing dishonored 2 right now and i am really sad to see no wtf dishonored 2. For some reasone i though he did one on the game but i guess not.
1. 9 Chapters. 2. You have multiple paths in the maps to get to your objective. 3. Non-Lethal has a few more technigues than that. 4. You can upgrade your ammo, to carry more ammo. 5. The entire game changes with the violent, and non-violent approaches, even the ending. 6. TB. I completed that mission on hardest difficulty. Very obvious. You can do it without even using a weapon, just by talking. 7. You are able to sheathe weapons, he just doesn't seem to know how... 8. There is only one glitch that I have come across, being fixed now, but it happened when you used the Stop Time spell. It would not end. Cool, yes. Annoying, kind of.
@@sars910 Congratulations, Ser Davos of House Seaworth. An achievement well-earned, if you ask me. Who knew where honor can take a man with such humble beginnings like yourself.
@@Replatforming yes. Now I would like to offer you a lordship. Fight for the one true king Stannis Baratheon and you shall henceforth be called Lord My Days of House Sound.
@@sars910 What a great honor you have bestowed upon me, Ser Davos! Stannis Baratheon is the one rightful king, no man should ever question that, my lord. I shall fight until my last breath to restore order to the Realm with the true king sitting on the Iron Throne.
Someone in the comments section was talking about how he didn't "care for the girl or the queen where he was supposed to". Curiously, the game allows for that. You can have the girl be killed. You can not give a shit about the queen, and not avenge her death. You can do a lot of things, because that's the Outsider's attitude towards it. Choice... or is it? I think the Outsider is a character that breaks the fourth wall. Most of the time I thought he was talking to me, the player, not Corvo Attano, the character.
The dlc was really cool, it puts you in a totaly diffrent place (for those that dont know, in the 2 campaing dlc you play as daud, the master assassin.) it had a couple of new powers, new enemies and gadgets. It was a diffrent experience.
its a choice game studio's have to make. some people say that if the character has a voice you can get more "attached" to him, but others say that if he doesnt have a voice you can imagine what the voice sounds like, and that way be more attached. i personly like it when a character has a voice, because it changes the way you look at your charracter.
sep boeren I think it varies for each character, characters like commander shepard from mass effect need a voice so you can really get involved with the mass effect story while characters like corvo I feel are best without a voice so they feel more mysterious and un expectable
The dishonored world is definetly the most captivating and interesting world I've ever seen. It just seems so real and the history of it just really intrigues me.
In case anyone's interested in the answer to his questions regarding the DLC there were three; one set of effectively "just for fun" missions that have nothing to do with the plot and two following the story of a different character happening at roughly the same time as the main game.
I always quick saved before some area and then go berserk all over the place killing everyone and have fun and scout the area for secret areas and passages then i would load the game over and go the stealthy way with ease :D
I played it on the Xbox 360 which had ~40 second load times. I played the games three times, once lethal, second time non-lethal and third time get all upgrades. Great game, 9/10.
Sir, I watched few of your reviews and you earned my subscribe and respect. As far as I'm concerned, the best reviewer on YT. Really like those long reviews, kinda like a tv show (and way better than most that are being aired in my country). Keep up the great work.
I really love Stealth games like Dishonored and the best thing is is that there are different ways to play the game.. Also FC3 is a great stealth game!
I already liked your videos Biscuit, but when you mentioned that Dark Messiah was one of your favourite games my respect for you rose even more!^^ Such a good game but greatly under appreciated by the greater public...
Kind of disappointed he did not talk about the heart more. If you use the heart while walking around it will talk about the area you are in and give you more information you may not have known. Not only that but if you use it while looking at a character such as an npc it will give information on the character and their life. For example using it on a city watch guard the heart may say "When his cousin refused his advances, he sent a patrol to beat her to death." it really changes your feelings and opinions on certain people and it gives the nameless npcs more life.
Heres what I mean, for example, corvo takes a vase which is worth 50 coins, when he gets back to the hound pits pub he can exchange that vase for something that is worth 50 coins since Piero asked for any type of loot, since Piero can just sell the loot.
Dishonored is one of those games that made me really excited for the sequel. There hadn't been too many other games like it, and i think in some ways they were "treading lightly" in some ways. Since the game itself and the DLC have been very well received, I think they're going to go all in on the next one.
There is a third thing wrong with Human Revolution's non lethal approach; bosses that can't be taken down non-lethally and take way too much damage to begin with.
A shame that so many of them there are on the internet :S I on the other hand, honestly, enjoy your Videos and your WTF series. I can always count on you for new games for me to play. I thank you for showing me games like FTL and Planetside 2 (I really thought it sucked before I saw your video). Thank you TotalBiscuit.
Just downloaded this game, looking forward to a strong stealth game. Next to horror games, stealth is my favorite genre. TotalBiscuit, all your reviews rock. Great, in-depth reviews all around. /subscribed
hey a little heads up when you play through the game again, when you reached the mansion it said NEUTRAL ZONE wich means guards won't attack you an 16:20 you could walk in front of them and they would think you were a party guest.
You start off the game as Lord Protector and bodyguard of the Empress. Your friends are within the guard and the citizens. It doesn't really make sense that you should want to kill those people because your position was to protect them in the first place, unless you actually have become crazed and hellbent on revenge against everything. This is why agressive play gives you a bad ending, you're out of character.
And it was the only way to get a decent image on your head. I hate the idea that games portray with moral choice. It's either you're Mother Teresa or you're a baby eating spawn of Satan. Me : "So what if I killed 2 or 3 people? They attacked ME." Game devs : "Nope! You had to kill someone, bad ending for you!"
Damon Thurston You have to kill a lot of people to get the high chaos ending. Unless you're really bad at stealth, getting a low chaos ending isn't that hard. Also, I thought the high chaos endings fit in with the general tone of the game better than the low chaos ending did. It seemed like the devs included the low chaos ending to satisfy people who only like happy endings.
Piero didn't say who he sells it to but he says that he does. Also Piero isn't really that undercover since he is wildly known to everyone (He made the mana elixer)
where does he "get" all ammo, bolt, mines before he starts a mission? i know you can buy from piero. but when i feel like playing lady boyle party mission, i will start the mission, but with the items i had when i first played that mission. anybody knows ? would be happy if somebody responded and helped :)
If you have this game and haven't tried non-lethal, please do. I did, and it was so damn fun, even times when I screwed up and had to use 4 sleep bolts in a row in a panic. It requires lots of strategy and caution, and, when you get to the last level and realize your actions have kept the city a relatively more peaceful place, and that it no longer matters if you outright fight people, it feels great to kill people like there is no tomorrow.
Old news, but you can speedrun this in 40 mins with no kills and never being detected. And it takes me 40 minutes just to do the first mission with no kills and never being detected.
I heard a rumor about a DLC campaign where you play as Daude. That sounds pretty cool to me because he not only just sort of disappears from the game for a while but also, his back story is really not all that explored. So, I guess there might be some interesting DLC in the future even with the quite definitive ending(s)
Hehe you maked Dishonored look too easy ... XD P.S Its awesome game, worth the time non lethal was extra fun and same way hard to pull it off perfectly but defenrtly worth buying specially Dishonored game of the year pack with expansions ...
Wow awesome. I'll go down and buy it for 65$. *Goes down to video game store. Spends ten minutes looking for the game. Then when I look at the price, I realize that it costs 100$...* I hate being a Danish console gamer....
Raven1024 But I still prefer consoles for anything other than strategy games. It just feels more committing to hold the controller without a notice about "Prism1583 is now playing TF2"
Probably one of my favorite features of the game is that you can approach the game differently and it will have different outcomes. For example, on my violent play through i noticed the little girl was drawing a picture of a dark figure holding a bloody knife obviously representing me as Corvo. Also, the other NPC's react differently based on how you complete your missions.
The main problem I have with this game is that it is extremely hard to be perfect in it. People say its easy only because if you get discovered whilst stealthing you are practically invincible anyway. If you never want to be seen youre gonna never touch the shift button and crouching will be your permanent position. Its kinda like they were too careful with being "realistic" it got way too annoying. And zombies were ridiculously unneeded. Lastly, if youre gonna encourage non-lethal or at least discourage killing at least frickin add more than just 2 options. Blinking all the time and chocking got old fast. And the story? yeah not even worth mentioning
spartanB0292 omg they were plague victims its similar to the black plague except they cough up blood and they bleed from there eyes thats the end effects from it then eventually they will die i forgot the other side effects its explained more in the game but they are not zombies
yeah, but zombies don't necessarily always want to eat your brains or rise from the grave, look at the Last of Us zombies, what happened to them is exactly what you just said. Even if they weren't called zombies, you cant deny they act, look, and feel like zombies
spartanB0292 yes they acted like it but they wasnt zombies they got effected by the rats people got effected by the plague and died more rats started coming more people got effected and dying this is y corvo left to help find a cure for it the reason they attack u is cause they want to effect u with the plague and another thing to metion they still function like a human some was eating sleepying camping even set up lil bonfires but i think reason they attacked is cause they was pissed cause they caught the plague alot of people turned evil n bitter when everything changed and corrupted
The awful moral choice system ruined this game. Its hidden, it is anvilicious, it gives you a bad ending if you kill people, not killing people is horribly unfun in this game and makes you lose out of 90% of your cool abilities.
Doing the no kill kill challenge on the hardest difficulty is so much fun. To be honest, it doesn't matter what difficulty you set it on. You're not going to be killing anyone.
I know but a lot of the challenge was having less non lethal options. So by allowing more lethal options more non lethal options are also opened. Non lethal things could be things like smoke bombs (obscures guard vision and blocks breathing, but since the Protagonist is wearing a mask he is unaffected so he can sneak up behind them and choke them out). While having more lethal variety appeals to the players that just want to kill stuff.
if you look around Piero's workshop (where you get upgrades for your kit) there will be an oval skorchmark on the wall, akin to portal. also in the workshop, you will find a note (a diary excerpt) of Piero's saying that he has begun experimentation with the 'doors to nowhere'. this is indeed a nod from the developers to Valve's portal. pretty cool, huh?
The storyline is pretty straightforward. A nice feature is that the world changes according to your actions. Makes it fun to do both high and low chaos playthroughs.
Irrational Games recently announced preorder awards that will be unlocked as more people preorder(exclusive to steam). 1st award(already unlocked) is a free copy of the original Bioshock. 2nd award is some exclusive TF2 items, and the 3rd award is a free copy of XCom: Enemy Unknown.
Same for me, I played through it 3 times already and started a new run today (after going trough Knife of Dunwall twice) and theres still dialouge and things to discover i havent seen before. Man I love this game. Goty 2012.
I always wanted to play Thief but unfortunately never got around to do it. Especially because i am a huge fan of Splinter Cell (the first 3 at least) Now my question is which one would you recommend to begin with and is the story of the games even connected ? cheers
I played through pure non-lethal. Never detected for most missions, and I choked so many people out. Gotta say, sleep bolts are some of the most useful things you can buy, and possession is incredible for when you otherwise can't get to them unseen.
