This week let's enjoy the unique sounds of rain on a metal roof with thunder. When I was building that roof I just knew I had to make it a tin roof. There is something about the specific sound that really takes me back to my youth. Because so many people asked for it, I have two versions of this recording.: One with thunder and one with the thunder edited out of it.

Hearing this recording brings back many good memories of staying with my mom's parents when I was a young kid. Loved hearing the rain coming down on their tin roof. I would set on the back covered porch with my grandpa listening to the rain coming down on the tin roof.

I've listened to this every night for a year or more. It helps me sleep because before it, I would have issues sleeping. When I listen to it I just sleep like a baby! I wrote this two years ago, I still use this. So I'm responsible for atleast 730 plays this video has received from then to now...... BUT the down side, even if I'm not tired..... if it starts to rain and I hear it.... I FIGHT my brain to stay awake! But it helped my insomnia so I'm not complaining lol

I usually go to Costa Rica every summer to visit my dad's side of the family. This year we couldn't go because of Carona, but this really helped me miss it just a little less, as the houses where my family lives usually have tin roofs and since they're in the mountains it rains a lot. Thanks :)

Great Sound. I play this on my TV while I sleep. I wish someone would come up with a Rain video that is totally blank looking so that I don't have the light shining in my face while I sleep

I used to have a blank version of all my sounds Nancy. I had to remove most of them. I still have a few here: ru-vid.com/group/PLWgOL5UzMqBe4Df8kN62yMAb5A3bVU05D They have an alarm at the end of the 10 hours, so if you don't want to hear it, just remember to start at the beginning each time. I honestly hoped for louder thunder or more ambience, but I understand that some people aren't looking for that. In San Marcos raining wasn't extremely common but when it did it was amazing, beautiful sounds of thunder, and heavy rain. Always was the best nights for me.

Getting hit by lightning is rare, you're a lot more likely to get hit by a vehicle (cars, bikes, trains, etc), get shot/stabbed/strangled (robbery gone wrong, mistaken identity, etc), a heart attack or even develop a blood clot and have a sudden stroke. You might be scared of thunder/lightning but it's not a big threat to your life.

If i had the time, energy, and proper equipment, I would LOVE to make one of these videos from sounds at my house, even if just for personal use. We have a huge tin roof and live out in the woods with all sorts of frog and bug sounds, and of course, the roosters crowing off in the background. There is nothing like the sound of rain on that roof accompanied by an orchestra of bugs, frogs and the wind whipping the trees! Rainy days are my favorite... as long as I don't have to do something outside that day!!

Some of the pieces of equipment can be surprisingly cheap to rent (though getting to the rental company could pose a problem in more remote area's I guess)... A sound-recorder (I have a Roland R-26) and maybe an extra omni-directional or directional microphone (depending on what it is you want to do) connected to the recorder at once (all recording their sound into seperate tracks and sometimes even seperate files so you can mix them according to the effect you want) can already be done for around 15-20 euro's rent for one day (you need to be lucky that it rains that day, of course). A reasonably good directional microphone (one that picks up sound mostly in front of it and not when it comes from either side of the microphone) is the Røde NTG-2.

I really liked this. After listening to this for just a few minutes, I was ready to sleep. When I woke up, this was still playing, and I was surprised to open the door and see the sun shining and not a cloud in the sky. I wish there were a version of this without as much thunder.
