I'd love a redemption arc for him. Since him and Alina will probably be the only ones to outlive everyone else, it would make sense to become allies eventually. They both just have to grow to want the same thing

@@Root7m thank you, I try honestly. And I feel like this is one of the best if not the best character I have ever read, and an arc would be, or will be, fantastic. You never really see it happening in any books and people just assume a villain is just bad without any depth and contrast. This is really interesting with the books and the show in comparison.

Maybe not impossible since it sounds like they've already improved on Mal and Alexander so much, in terms of their attitudes toward Alina. Obvs Alexander still does a lot of messed up things to Alina but their relationship before all that was way more equal in the show than what I've heard of the books, her kissing him etc

I really want the show to somehow get the "if they had only met sooner" bit right... Had Alina shown up sooner there would have been a chance to save him, he would have still been more Aleksander than The Darkling. They are literally soulmates who met too late and the utter tragedy of that... 💔 At the same time I just want it to not be too late, God damn it Ben Barnes and your perfect face and brilliant acting. The first English movie I watched was narnia - prince caspian at the age of ten and he was my first celebrity crush. Now I'm 16 and saw him as the darkling in shadow and bone and thats when I understood that life is a continuous cycle of crushing over Ben Barnes🖤🖤🖤 When he said "make me your villain" ........ Ben has said that he thought when he started acting that he'd be given only parts like Hugh Grant in romantic comedies and historical period films, like "Pride & Prejudice." But then he started being asked to do "bad guy" roles the last 5 or 6 years. (I can see why!) But now he's anxious to do a "leading man who gets the girl" role. So there's that!

Strong song for Aleksander. Cheer. Through your video, we see all the talent of Ben Barnes and all the involvement in his interpretation. He gives so many nuances to Aleksander that I no longer see him as the villain of the novel. He has become more than that. I hope that the following seasons will still give this opportunity to Ben Barnes. Chanson forte pour Aleksander. Bravo. A travers ta vidéo, on voit tout le talent de Ben Barnes et toute l'implication dans son interprêtation. Il donne tant de nuances à Aleksander que je ne le vois plus comme le vilain du roman. He rules the world, it will be such shame if he subject to a certain standard that would call him "good", to a certain hero stereotype 'cause he's just something else entirely! If you're not good, you're bad, but is that really that? No black and whites, no good or bad for him. He's just what he is. The Darkling.

Judging from Zoya's flirtation with Mal in the first episode, I don't think there was something serious from her side. He was definitely attracting women's attention. But only Alina could be equal to him, their relationship line could be so interesting. OK. I see many people asking for a redemption ark for him? But how? Even if the creators stray away from book to give him a second shot that too with Alina they will have to change a lot. Maybe introduce a new villain. Maybe the Shu or Fjerdans. But I don't see how they can just forgive him after all the things. Any scenarios in mind?
